Eric Clapton.

Bonnie Raitt. I love her and I never liked Eric Clapton.

Or rather, "the unique combination of people not liking Kanye and Eminem and voting for Outkast by default."

As for this round... shoot. I'm gonna have to think about this for a while and get back to you.

Oh yeah, I realize that. And I do like Outkast, and I'm disappointed that they're new album has been pushed back to next year. And even if my choice (Kanye) had won, I don't have any illusions that he wouldn't have been stomped in round two by absolutely anybody he was put up against. But it was a lovely throwaway round for the few of us who were interested by it, so thank you for indluging us. (Same commentary applies to the future Nick Cave/Tom Waits round. Don't matter who wins that one - they won't be making it to round three. But I'm still looking forward to it!)

I'm still thinking about this round, though...

And also thinking about who's going to win the whole thing... I think I've got a pretty good idea.

Yes! And I am ashamed of myself for never thinking of Cohen. He's a great match for both of them.

Oh cruel! I love all three of them, and for totally different reasons. AAAAAh! How will I choose?

Where's your modern black girls? Hehehehe. You know, MJB v. Badu, TLC v. Salt n Peppah....En Vogue v. Destiny's Child, etc.
:D

They both bore me to tears, but I went with Raitt....I do like some of her stuff.

Oh man, TLC v. Salt 'n Pepa would kick ass.

Poor Spinderella never gets her due.

After Left Eye died, a friend of mine wiped away a tear and proclaimed: "No scrubs where you are, old friend..."

Moony 11-15-2005 03:30 PM

Bonnie Raitt. I love her.

I agree! I'd love to see that round.

Richard B 11-15-2005 03:39 PM

TrackAGhost...you're killing me. Tough rounds recently. I like both Eric Clapton and Bonnie Raitt...but I sure have more of Bonnie Raitt in my collection...so I should simply lean with her for that.

But then...Layla...Cocaine...Let It Grow...Wonderful Tonight...After Midnight. I treasure these Clapton songs.

Now I'm just confused and must end this post and vote later.

What he said, but I'll go a step further and say that I LOATHE Clapton with every fiber of my being. Is that dramatic enough?

Bonnie Raitt is one cool chica .

Serrart 11-15-2005 04:09 PM

Eric Clapton, great guitar player, I have a couple of his albums while I don't know much of Bonnie Raitt. So he's my choice.

I went with the Angel from Montgomery. She's a survivor and, like Stevie, is as relevant today as she was 30 years ago.

Where's all the Clapton hatred coming from? I can see being indifferent towards him, or maybe having a mild distaste for him, but I had no idea so many people loathed the guy.

Precisely. I've just always found him to be incredibly boring. Not to mentiont hat my mother drove me ****ing batty with the soundtract to "Rush" just like she did with the bloody Eagles while i was growing up. I won't comment on his guitar playing because I'm not an expert and I'd look like a fool, but his actual music just leaves me cold.

I'm no expert either, I know he's a good guitar player, I just think his playing sounds boring and predictable, I don't like the sound of his guitar, and like you said, it leaves me cold. Cream was a great band, I'll give him that much.

DavidMn 11-15-2005 05:36 PM

Bonnie Raitt BTW:thumbsup:

wow...a tough one. But I dont really consider them combatants...they are quite different to me. I have 4 Bonnie albums and 3 Clapton ones, as well as his Derek/Dominoes stuff and Cream. I have to pick Clapton....although Bonnie's voice is to die for.

What unnecessary rudeness? I asked an honest question (and got a couple of good honest answers), and since you can't post anything that's fewer than ten characters long, I filled the remaining space with a joke for Amber from another thread.

I can definitely see that. Actually, now that I think about it, most of his music has been pretty horribly boring and MOR since the early 70s. (Remember that damn song with Babyface from that John Travolta telekinesis movie?)

Most of his stuff up through Derek and the Dominoes is pretty great, though. (And he can still kick some ass in concert when he wants to, too.)
