Children, Go Where I Send Thee

What is your favorite recording of this festive spiritual?

Hmmm. Let me ponder that for a moment, David.

We used to sing this song at 4-H Camp. Always fun.

YOU DON'T KNOW THAT SONG!

here are the lyrics...

Quote:

All you have to do
Is look at me that way
You don't have to say
What's going on in your heart
And deep in the night
When I think you won't drive me crazy
I'm just hoping that maybe
You're feeling the same way to
I want you and I need you
I don't know what else to say
(Don't you) Don't you think it's time
(Don't you) Don't you think it's time (Don't you)
Don't you think it's time That you remember me
So I'm begging you
Not to leave me up in the air
It just wouldn't be fair
Cause you know the way
I feel about you
It may not be love
Or an everlasting feeling
But you sending me reeling
With the very mention of your name
I want you and I need you
I don't know what else to say
(Don't you) Don't you think it's time
(Don't you) Don't you think it's time (Don't you)
Don't you think it's time That you remember me
Remember me...

oh no....nevermind.

Ermm...I used to have a Nina Simone compilation that had this song on it...if it's the same song. But that's the only time I've ever heard this. I tend to avoid Christian religious music, as I've explained elsewhere. :D

I'm with you. I have never heard of that song. Maybe, it isn't a southern thing.

You goofy kids. Could someone find a really cool recording of it & post it?

Maybe Peter Paul & Mary?

The only one I could find. Let's hope it's not a bastardisation of any sort:

I've never heard it sung by anyone other than kiddie choirs in church.

This is an amazing version

The Blind Boys of Alabama feature Mavis Staples on this version. They call it Born in Bethlehem, but I'm pretty sure it's the same song.

Here's a sample:

This is one of my favorite Christmas albums.

There ya go. :)
