You look tired
Someone just randomly told me that. Gee thanks! I am though. I was up late last nite. Not that late though. But I had an emotionally draining night. Anyway, don't tell someone they look tired!
|
Well, at least they didn't say, "so when is the baby due?"
That is a horrible thing to say to a woman. |
PS-- don't let someone's mindless comment ruin your day!

I tend to always be tired, and always have dark circles/bags under my eyes. (I have sleep apnea, but don't use my machine like I should, because I have more trouble sleeping with the mask on than without.) You'd be amazed how many people make similar comments to me. Sometimes, they even precede it with "You look awful." Some people just have no common sense.

And for the love of God, no one should ever ask a woman when her baby is due, etc. That could be such a disaster, especially if they just had the baby, or whatever. I'm still of the belief that unless you have something nice to say to someone, you should keep your mouth shut. You know what else kills me? When someone looks at you and says, "SMILE!" Like you're supposed to walk around with a grin on your face for no reason. Gah, people should really just shush. |

That pregnant question is a quagmire. I used to work with a woman who was very thin but she had a little bump in her lower abdomen. Well, it wasn't so little and she would get asked that all the time! I had a friend ask someone once who wasn't pregnant. My friend was mortified. She told me never to ask anyone that. Not that I ever would! |

SuzeQuze -- is your day going any better? :xoxo:

What a polite way of saying you look like ****.

Suze - you should have used some snappy retort.
But don't feel bad. About 6 days ago I noticed that my dark circles have increased somewhat dramatically. And not in a sexy way. More like in a malnourished looking way. I have no doubt you look fine. Also, I hate when people say that. |

Coworkers have said this to me, when I am not wearing eye makeup. It so rarely sounds like the person has concern - more like Diss said, a way of saying you look like ****.
The only time that comment would be alright with me is if it is followed by an offer of: a day off some tea a pillow:nod: Hey - there's a retort: "You look tired today." "I am tired. Could you get me a pillow?" The other unwelcome comment I have always hated is: "Smile" it is almost always uttered as a command, and from a stranger. I don't know any unmedicated people who walk around with smiles on their faces all day:mad: p.s. I thought your thread was going to be about all of us late-night ledgies. |
