NOTHING makes me laugh harder than:

"Hi, my name is Gwen, and I'm hear to WAAAAAAAAAAASH your vagina!!"

Every time I see that bit, I lose it. So fecking hysterical.

Do you remember her sitcom "All American Girl"? It's coming to DVD in January!

AND - she's developing a new show for Fox where she plays...her mother.

I remember, but I never saw it. Apparently the writing was pretty bad. Wait, I think I know that because MC made fun of it in one of her shows...
So, I won't get that. I prefer stand up.
I hope her new show is good. :)

Eh, it started off really great, but by the end, it had become dull because the network was forcing her to change things so much. But there were some truly hilarious episodes, especially the Quentin Tarantino one.

Oh, wow. I dunno If I didn't have TV then, or what - I thought it was cancelled lickety split.
Good to know some was funny. I doubt I'll buy the DVD, because I don't buy things, but in theory I would add it to my list, thanks for the tip. For instance, I'll probably rent her new one.

From Google News:

Margaret Cho takes another stab at series TV
http://www.advocate.com/news_detail_ektid22242.asp

Fox Broadcasting Co. is developing a comedy script with comedienne Margaret Cho, who unhappily starred in the short-lived sitcom All-American Girl on ABC in 1994–1995. The ethnic, multigenerational family comedy is said to involve a character based on Cho's mother that she has made a fixture of her stand-up routine.

"I'm very excited about this project because, finally, I get to become my mother," said Cho, who would also executive-produce with Just Shoot Me writer Susan Dickes. Cho describes her harrowing experience with All-American Girl in her concert film I'm the One That I Want, alleging that ABC pressured her to lose so much weight that it triggered kidney failure. (Andrew Wallenstein, Reuters)

FOX Signs Margaret Cho
http://www.tvfodder.com/archives/200...ns_marga.shtml

Margaret Cho has probably been called a lot of things in her life, but will "a good mom" be one of them? FOX seems to think so. UPI is reporting that the network has signed up the notorious C.H.O. for a sitcom deal.

The show is based on the material she does on her mom in her standup act. "Finally, I get to become my mother," Cho told "Variety."

ABC's "American Girl" didn't fare so well, but it also sounded like they were kind of a pain in the ass, telling Cho to lose weight and some of her ethnicity. Nice. She uses some of that pain in her standup act, and since the premise of this show roots from the same act, I would think it would last a bit longer.

Cho is currently wrapping two films, "Social Grace" and "I'mPerfect." No word on when the sitcom might air. -- Rachel Cericola

Omigod, I did hear the bad things from her standup! hahahaha.
She is really good at being her mother. And it's a different time now - for Christ's sake, have you seen Family Guy and American Dad?!?!?! If all things remain consistent, Fox will not try to censor and change her show to make it more "Whatever".:)
It's weird they air such crass shows, but have such conservative news. Yet more evidence of Fox's lame-osity.

I love Margaret Cho and yes, she's working on a new show. She was on Sirius OutQ last week and was talking about her new dvd and new show.

Richard B 11-08-2005 11:41 AM

Cho rocks. Always has. She was a San Francisco staple for years.

Anyway...the link is cool and I hope you all watch her "special message" video. It's great.

My friend wrapped up a film working with her. I think it comes out next year. It's not stand-up, but a Cho movie.

Her mother screaming into her answering machine - "are you a LESBIAN?!?!"

DavidMn 11-08-2005 12:05 PM

Yeah the Bam Bam Celeste movie (if I spelled that right)

I read in her blog the other day that she just saw the gypsy movie with sara rue...and she wished that she would have released her movie the same time, because I guess the movies are somewhat similar...

Dissention, I got the dvd, and I love it. To me it gets almost a little too political...but I guess the message she is portraying makes sense as a whole. I saw her at the state of emergency tour at michigan state university. she was SO hilarious...I like it when she does that cyclone noise, "pppfffffftttwooooooosh allalalalala pffffftwoooooooosh" cracks me up everytime.

andymaycen 11-13-2005 06:55 PM

I saw Cho on a cruise last year. She was hilarious. I was laughing so hard I nearly asphyxiated (did I spell that right??).
I can't believe Fox would work with her considering her hatred of our current administration and Fox's obvious love of Dubya.
The best line from her routine was something about Laura Bush's pussy tasting like Lysol. God I love her

Yes and then she's like well you know barbara bush is moth balls...please...

andymaycen 11-13-2005 11:10 PM

I don't recall her saying Barbara was like mothballs, but that is funny. What is funny is that Barbara Bush looks just like the Quaker Oats man. Check it out next time you're at the market. You'll have a laugh.
