Jarhead
Have and of you seen this movie yet? I have noticed the reviews have been kind of bad, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I saw it Friday night, and I thought the acting was superb. It seemed to be a real and honest depiction of the first Gulf War, and thankfully never came across as an attempt to be pro-current Iraq war or anti-current Iraq war.

I have not seen it yet...but give me time..cause I absolutely love Mr. Jake Gyllenhaal. Ciao! Ash x |
Ok, it's worth it just to look at Jake Gyllenhall without a shirt on.....
|
I have yet to see it, but my friend saw it and said that while it was an utterly useless and crappy movie, Jake Gyllenhaal was really fantastic in it. I'm going to have to prepare myself for two hours of Jamie Foxx before I see it, though, because I cannot stand that man.

Definetely not useless and crappy in my opinion. Everyone says "there's no action" well it is meant to be a real dipiction of Marines, who often found themselves feeling perhaps USELESS during that war, as it was fought for the most part by air...and they were promised that they wouldn't just be sitting in the desert for hundreds of days waiting for no reason. I thought the acting was superb, but I guess you have to like military movies to enjoy it, and I do. |

I like Halle, but she didn't deserve the Oscar for Monster's Ball, for sure. |

After that scene, I thought to myself...if she doesn't get the gold...I am going to scream! AND I DID! But it's not as big a rip off as the 1954 oscar was! |
Quote:
Didn't Halle pick up her Razzie in person for Catwoman? That was great. |

At least she doesn't take herself too seriously. She gets major props for that. |

But it was in '55. |

Cause Judy was in the hospital having just given birth to Joe. And THAT was a rip off! Judy SHOULD have won that Oscar... |

I loved her style. |
Jarhead was good. It was an interesting take on a soldier's perspective on waiting to go to war. It is worth the price of admission for the party scenes alone - and you will have to see it to know what I mean, but I will say Santa Clause never looked like that
