Don't Let Oil Companies Plunder the Arctic Refuge!

The senate voted to drill and I'm just sick over it. Maybe we can get the house to say nay.

Arctic Refuge One Step Away from Ruin

The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is a step away from becoming yet another oilfield. An amendment to protect the wildlife refuge from planned oil drilling failed by just two votes in the Senate Thursday, but the House of Representatives still has time to stop the drilling.

Next week an amendment to strip the Arctic drilling authorization from a budget bill will go before the House of Representatives.

TELL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE TO TAKE A STAND AND PREVENT OIL DRILLING IN THE ARCTIC NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE.

America needs is not more drilling to the end of the earth; we need an energy policy with better ideas for a secure, sustainable future. Take action and help save the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from oil company plundering.

I'm for the drilling! Nine out of ten Caribou support drilling too! ;)

Maybe I should put a "boy how I love ANWR" in my siggy now...

And I mean all of this in a light hearted way. Although I am for the drilling...I don't want to start anything! :)

Why in the world would you support drilling? there isnt going to be any oil realized for 10 YEARS! This is insane! much smarter I think to investigate alternative energy vehicles..........

I'm staying away from politics...why am I replying! :distress:

What I don't understand is why the democrats are voting against it. Don't the unions desperately want drilling in ANWR?

That will never happen until the last drop of oil on this planet is realized, which sadly includes the this refuge.

This is what I expected from you. You are becoming predictable. What we need are renewable energy sources not more bloody oil.

Our REPUBLICAN senator from Minnesota, Norm Coleman, actually voted against it.

He's up for re-election next year and will lose to Al Franken. DeWine fron Ohio, who is also a Republican, voted nay. He is also facing a tough race next year. The Dems want that seat bad.

wondergirl9847 11-04-2005 07:10 PM

Word to those who want alternate energy sources!

We don't need to be frickin' drilling in the Arctic, we need to be finding alternate ways to provide energy! Utilize the sun for frick sake!

It's all too frustrating for words, really. :(

Wind power, and don't the tides generate energy? I mean, sheebus.

Becoming?

Seriously, Brown Eyes, take a few days off. I'll be sure to read Coulter's blog every morning, and I'll write all your posts for you.

Look, if this administration sets a timetable for actually figuring out how to use alternative and/or renewable energy sources, then the terrorists will just start bombing wind turbines and the sun. And then where will we be?

ryan8472 11-05-2005 01:29 PM

I wrote to my senator about this last year I think. He wrote back, telling me that he was against drilling in Artic refuges. Then he went and voted FOR it. Asshole. I hate Chris Dodd.

Kerry is finally starting to press the issue of electronic voting and how screwed up it is, so he discussed it with Dodd. Dodd's reply? "Uh, there's nothing wrong with electronic voting. I don't even want to talk about it."

10 years of drilling and construction for what wouldn't even supply us with one year of oil at our current rate of consumption. Who this will benefit, other than the companies heading up the project, I have no idea. Oh, yeah, it will give some Alaskans jobs for ten years. Then after 1 year of oil production they will be unemployed, the companies who did all the construction will declare bankruptcy, and the tax payers will foot the bill for the cleanup and tear down of the facilities. Genius.

Yes, only the colossally misinformed, greedy, shortsighted, and even cruel (considering the destruction that will ensue to every life form, including us, it's hard to think of as anything BUT cruel) would think this is something that should be done.

Hannity & Colmes? How heinous. A college dropout and an idot with a weird affection for bad plastic surgery. You'd have to bust out your wallet to get me to watch.

no, only the oil companies who want local access and dont want to be bothered with the complications that access to foreign oil brings.

btw, Suze, I signed. Im sure I'll get the usual response from my Representative Wally Herger (a GOP hardliner) that says "thank you for your input but I must disagree blah blah blah blah........" Never fails.
