So I guess she considers the troops she gave those ipods to, moron's
|
Can you even imagine shooing Aunt Stevie away so you could IM with your friends?!
|
See - she's not afraid to "waste" $15 on CDs either!
I guess from this article that Stevie is OK with internet use for information purposes, but for anything else it's a waste. This article made me laugh out loud. Can you imagine her standing there with her hands on her hips trying to get Jessica's attention while she's playing on the computer? Too funny. Thanks so much for posting this article! I've had a bad morning so far and it made me laugh. :xoxo: |

Also, my FAV is "That's the moment I want to take the computer, throw it out the window, and slap her. " ATTA GIRL  I also totally agree with this: "And I tell her: You and your friends have no social skills, you don't know how to talk to anybody because you're always text messaging, you burn your eyes and hump your back playing these stupid computer games." I HATE it when the youngin's talk non stop on their cells while at dinner, etc. I mean why go to dinner with someone just to talk on the phone with somone else. That is just so insulting. I feel old  |

You don't really think she PAYS for her CD's, do you? Heck, I have thousands as well - one of the joys of being in radio.... |

Hmmm... Stevie saying something that contradicts something she said or did earlier? I'm shocked! |
Well...at least we know Jessie probably visits the ledge....
:wavey: |
I so want to go through her 300.000 cd collection!
And as I already said at SW: I thank Stevie for accussing me of having no social skills. ;) |

(I just realized today, somehow in the process of ripping all my hundreds of CDs, I skippsed TOSOTM. Blast.) |

And Jessie's, what, 14? I'm thinking she's not browsing The Ledge, for some reason. Not exactly where the cool kids hang these days. |

Is it just me or is this interview making her sound very old? Sometimes I forget there is a huge age gap between us. She really is from the old school. |
Have of this stuff doesn't even seem like she would say it... Probably a short conversion embelished ALOT and or taken out of context... just my opinion.

I have to remember to be careful reading all these articles. The less I know about Stevie's opinions, the better. She sounds impossibly annoying in this article.

I commented on this article on the SevenWonders board and offended someone with my opinions about the internet. So I'll keep my mouth shut here... :wavey:

I don't think it makes her sound old. I'm only 24 and I don't completely disagree with Stevie. I wouldn't want my kids sitting in front of a computer all day long when they should be outside riding bikes and running around. That's the reason my parents never bought me a Nintendo in the 80s...and I still have never played any video games.
I don't have an ipod either. For me, half the fun of music is having the album, artwork, liner notes, etc, in my hands. Susie |

Maybe those a-holes at Undercover music, or whatever that site is, made it up.

Assuming that there is ANY truth to this article: What she allegedly said was "computer games, text messaging and mobile phones have turned the new generation into social morons." I believe the term "social morons" would mean people who don't know how to communicate face to face or function well socially because they spend all their spare time sitting in front of a game console or on a cell phone (I'm surprised there was no mention of TV -- I think that is a major social inhibitor.) Keep in mind, there is a BIG difference between "social morons" and "morons." However, I'm finding it hard to believe Stevie would use an insensitive term like "morons" in an interview....What someone (anyone, not just Stevie) may say to friends and terms they may use privately is totally different that what they might say if being interviewed or quoted in a published article. I wouldn't know if Stevie ever uses the term at home, but I doubt she would use it publicly. As far as Stevie saying "Gosh", I wonder if she actually said "God" but they found that offensive to print, so they changed it. |
This cracked me up - so while Stevie has a day off, Andrew's entertaining a Playboy bunny...
Herald Sun, 04-11-2005, Ed: 1 - FIRST, Pg: 025, 204 words , THEEYE A SURPRISE guest in the Andrew McManus tent was Playboy model Lillian Mullen, who has been on the mag's cover eight times. She's in Melbourne for one week exploring business opportunities. McManus's major guest, singer Stevie Nicks, had a rest day be... That's all I could cut and paste for free. |

Assuming that there is ANY truth to this article: What she allegedly said was "computer games, text messaging and mobile phones have turned the new generation into social morons." QUOTE] that portion appears to be the header to the article a summation of sorts from the writers... there are no quotes used attributing those exact words to stevie  FLEETWOOD Mac rock chick Stevie Nicks has revealed that she despises, and refuses to join, the computer age. Nicks, 57, says computer games, text messaging and mobile phones have turned the new generation into social morons. |
I myself don't doubt the legitimacy of the article. Stevie has said before she doesn't like the internet. I can believe all the opinions in the articles are hers, but not some of the word usage. Like the words "gosh" and "moron" (which I agree the ariticle does not attribute as a direct quote) and then her saying she would like to "slap" Jessi, seems out of character.

I don't know where the Stevie Nicks Chain got it from, but I received it thru email from them.

I have to admit, I'm not quite as technologically challenged as Stevie is, but it heartens me to see that there's someone else out there that isnt a complete computer whiz like me.
