Mirage DVD?

Hi all,

I know the Mirage DVD is out in Australia -- I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend a reliable website to buy it from at a half-decent price? Preferably not the bootlegged Behind-The-Mask-cover one currently on Amazon.com

Also, anyone know what DVD region the disk is? I'm in Ireland, which is Region 2 ...

Any information is appreciated

Thanks!:wavey:

Hi,

I don't know where you can get it from online, but I know that Australia is Zone/Region 4...

If you have a DVD player that is all regions it shuld work, but yes Australia/New Zealand is Region 4 (i think) - but i will check on my copy at home if the DVD has a region - you can most definatley buy the DVD from www.soundsnz.com - hope this helps

Hey Sahara, i checked my copy of the DVD and it is NTSC, and a region code of zero, so i guess this means that it can be used everywhere. http://www.soundsnz.com/browse/itemd...TypeFormatID=1 is definately the best place to buy it from, i work for them and they are very reliable:thumbsup:

tuigirl 11-07-2005 08:48 AM

$19NZ..cor, thats very reasonable...about £6.50!! Think I paid a bit more than that on Ebay for my tape!

Thanks for checking! I'm going to order it today, since I've never got around to getting the bootlegged copy and I've been waiting forever for it to come out in US/Canada!

Has anyone else in Region 1 bought this and had it work yet? (Just checking).

You're great!! Thanks so much!

Someone told me that this release is also a bootleg. Can someone who purchased it verify its authenticity?

foxyluva 11-13-2005 07:28 PM

I own it, yes it is authentic, its a sonybmg release. The footage of the concert though is exactly the same quality of the bootleg, which i also own. The best thing about it is the cover art and the bonus stevie music videos. :o

Hey, foxyluva, I ordered the DVD a while back (about four days ago) and they've yet to send me a shipping confirmation email. I shot an email yesterday and haven't heard from them.

Do you know if they're just out of the DVDs or anything like that?

P.S.: I'm not riffing on them, just wondering out loud.

danax6 11-18-2005 05:45 PM

Aargh, is there any way I can order this WITHOUT a credit card? I guess not, but damnit, there are countries where credit cards are not mainstream. ;)

Had nothing to do with a "night," pal. Nicks was just like that throughout the tour -- hoarse, rough-hewn, bronchial.

Either you like her on the Mirage Tour or you don't. But she was no different in L.A. from the rest of the short tour, as any even cursory listen to Detroit, Memphis, Denver, Oakland, Cedar Falls, Austin, Tempe, Minneapolis, Baton Rouge or East Rutherford will attest to.

The DVD wasn't filmed on "one night"...it was filmed over the course of two shows at the GW Forum. With completely opposite "vibes" between the band each night. One night they were all smiles, the other night, they seemed like they'd have rather just killed each other than play a concert together.

Gypsy is just awful on that video :(

I don't think so. I really like it. Although it is obvious that Gypsy came later in the set, but when edited for video they pushed it up early. I like the rawness in it and it is so heart felt as she holds that little rose. I think Gypsy sounds awful in all shows after The Wild Heart Tour.

Funny about this Mirage Concert video, I have 3 friends who never really knew Fleetwood Mac but after I made them watch this tour video they became huge fans.

I used to show it to college dormmate/surf punks at UCSB & they ... I think they liked it. They'd sit there watching & mumble stuff like "I heard she makes all her own clothes" or "good guitar player" or "the drummer's a bug-eyed freak" (I think they meant that in a good way).

Also, these were my backstage days, & I was backstage at the Supper Club when the band played the Forum. I don't specifically remember any antagonism or trouble, but things were always very 'separate' in those days. Each member had his or her own little coterie & generally just went to hang out with homies in their respective corners, or else more often than not got in the limo & went home.

There's an old tale somewhere (possibly the "Everything" book about Stevie?) that at some point on the tour (but not during a show), Stevie was walking by & Lindsey stuck out his foot & tripped her. So despite the personal tragedies that occurred, obviously there were a few shenanigans, too. I'd love to know in which town this Stevie-tripping took place.

EXCEPT FOR NOT THAT FUNNY!!! I used to show it to my friends, too. "IF" I let NTF run, they would all yell to "turn that **** off!". So we always fast forwarded when NTF came....

Gypsy is the most monoton(e) ous singing ever performed. Embarrassing.

I'm surprised that you, with your love of All Things Christine, never watch or listen to NTF, because it happens to feature some of her most rhythmically satisfying & intricate pop stylings on the keyboard, along with a healthy dollop of blues grace notes (as do all the live NTFs from those few years).

That screaming is outside the bounds of good taste! His self edit button must've been on the Fritz:D that day. Seriously, my friends would make me shut off the screaming. I watch NTF if I'm solo.

No, that's cool. I know how school can be.

Thanks for checking up, I had a feeling that was the case.

And I don't mind waiting for it, since it's going to be worth it.

Yeah, NTF is certainly an aquired taste. I love the song and performance. Christine on the other side of the stage playing that upright piano.

And of course smoking that joint adds to the fun of it all.

I got an email a couple of days ago that it's on its way.

foxyluva 12-07-2005 11:07 PM

yay! :] im soo happy for you!!

danax6 12-15-2005 09:42 AM

Okay, I got it. I have to say the screen quality is ten times better than the vcd copy that I had, but I am still not at all satisfied with the sound quality. Though it says Dolby 2.0 Stereo on the cover (and it might just be that), it's still VHS sound quality, and it sounds like you turned up your volume way too loud on an old stereo tv. It creaks and at the high notes I can't help but cringe. I tried every setting on my surround set, and the creaking won't go away.

But, the cover is great, the sound quality of the Stevie videos is excellent for2.0 Stereo, and as I said, the video quality is better than I expected. So, I think I got my money's worth, I just wish the sound was better. I don't dare turn up the volume too loud, or my ears will suffer damage. ;)

Oh, and it's definitely Region 0, so far it has played on all the dvd-players I have tested it on. :)

danax6 12-15-2005 01:36 PM

Well, I'll damned. As I am watching the Mirage dvd, which had just come in all the way from New Zealand, a friend of mine calls me up to tell me he found a Fleetwood Mac dvd on sale in some record store. So, I go, which one? And he says, Mirage Concert 82. Fug! It only costs 5 bucks here, has a slightly different cover, there are no Stevie videos, but it has 5.1 and DTS surround sound.

So, I guess I ordered that all for nothing. I had no idea they were available here. My punishment for being lazy and not investigating first.

Bumperke 12-16-2005 09:12 AM

I got it in a simple Dutch record and DVD shop.
If i remembered well, the original version was released november 1984 in Netherlands. Still got it ( VHS pal-secam). The DVD version is not very good. I got the feeling they didn't do anything about the quality. Both footage and sound are quiet hazy. The sound is terrible, no dynamic, like recording without "Dolby C".

The picturing is typical '80's. A lot of interference, with over red and blue.

Otherwise, it's not worse comparing to the VHStape.
Anyway, it's a document, and i'm happy with it.:blob2:

Will:cool:
