Christine forum

This Christine forum should be hopping a lot more regularly. Don't you Chris fans have anything more to talk about? Get going! If I had a whip, I'd use it . . .

I hear she played a Moog of stage for its lighter sound :wavey:

Seriously, let's go through what she played and when. Also, what percussion she played.

Did she ever play a Bosendorfer on stage?

Eh, I've been in a pissed-off at the world lately and haven't felt like being an active Ledgie or a nice person but I am playing "Believe Me" right now.

I don't think so. The only two brands I know of she used live are Hamilton & Yamaha. There must have been others, obviously, at least in the early days.

gldstwmn 10-29-2005 03:22 PM

I loved it when she played the accordion on Tusk. :o

macfan 57 10-29-2005 03:48 PM

I liked when she played that percussion thing during "Second Hand News" on the Rumours tour.

By the way, isn't everyone relieved that we don't ever have to worry about Christine McVie trying to sell something in a grocery store?

Aw, I could've been listening to that too, since I spotted "Mystery To Me" at the mall, but opted to buy Stevie's "Wild Heart" instead. Next time, though... that was there, along with Bare Trees. As I stood in the store, checking out the FM albums, I was trying to figure out which one had more Christine songs on it, since I only had enough money for one CD.

Lisa!!!!!!!!! You don't have Mystery to Me???????? You're killing me. You don't have Bare Trees????? You just got The Wild Heart????? Oh my God. I think this is an emergency. Do I need to be sending you some songs? On that note, did you get "Jewel-Eyed Judy"? I've been sitting here tired as hell and hardly able to keep my eyes open and then I get this jolt from reading your post!

Have you at least heard the songs on those albums?

I know! I had Mystery to Me all ready to bring up to the cash register, when I decided to check out their Stevie selection. Usually all they have is Timespace and BellaDonna, so I didn't expect to find anything.

The Wild Heart is kinda... bah.... I'm not wild (ha ha) about it. Except for the title track, Stand Back, Nightbird and Sable on Blonde, the rest of the album didn't really grab me.

Don't worry, I've at least heard the songs. I'm not that bad.

Yep, just checked my email-- Got Jewel Eyed Judy, thanks! *goes off to listen*

PS: If it makes you feel any better, I would've gotten all THREE of those albums, if I'd had more money on me!

Most of the people who frequent this forum are going to question your sanity after they see you've confessed to choosing TWH over MTM.

Aw, TWH is my fave Stevie album. It wasn't always my fave, but it grew on me. Of course I have this damn username that I'm sick of at this point. There's a really gay story behind that, which I told one day in August here when I left my inhibitions somewhere else. So, it's special to me but then I can kind of see why some find it generally boring. I totally agree with the ones you mentioned, though "Sable on Blond" had to grow on me. It's now one of my favorites of all of her works. "Nothing Ever Changes" really grew on me, too.

I definitely understand not buying all of it at once; I didn't either, though I've been very tempted to. (And I'm still working on it). Just let me know if you ever want me to e-mail you anything else. :)

LMAO! Don't worry, I question my sanity daily. ;)

Interesting story. I don't find it boring at all! I can relate, somewhat, in the sense that I've liked people (okay, girls), who don't see me 'in that way'. I'm going through that right now, actually. Luckily, this close friend of mine likes to er, joke around sexually? and tries to seduce me every so often. Among other things. LOL. She says it's all in fun, and I believe her, since she's crazy about men. But she does admit to people like Christine, and Stevie and Cyndi being hot. Which makes me smile.

Get Mystery To Me!

It boggles the mind how anyone could pick any Stevie Nicks solo album over Mystery To Me, which in my opinion is the best thing Fleetwood Mac ever did. Seriously, MTM is perfection & it has "Hynotized" & especially, "Why" on it. Get Mystery To Me:)

Oh, thanks for reading it! I post it but then I don't assume someone's actually going to read it. I am the queen of liking women who don't see me 'in that way,' so we're definitely in the same boat there. I think MTM is overrated by a bunch of you guys. It's a decent collection of tunes & performances -- about par for Fleetwood Mac. It lacks the visionary excitement of Heroes Are Hard To Find, the roots music realism of Dog & Dustbin, & the miniaturist multifacetedness in tracking of Rumours.

A lot of you are letting your nostalgia run away with you -- or maybe it's more of a nostalgie de la boue.

The truly epic "Keep On Going" is mostly what gives MTM its B-12.

You guys with your cute little sadomasochisms!! The Chris board here could really be the most seriously happening place of all of the forums, if only you guys would take a little action & start conceptualizing. I howl with frustration when I see the stasis here. It oozes like blood plasma from a severed arterial wall.

B-12?

Fleetwood Mac's Mystery To Me! Helping maintain healthy red blood cells since 1973. Buy a copy today! :D

Oh, and GateandGarden, I bought copies of MTM and BD within an hour of each other. So I'm not insane, I'm just dysfunctional. :blob1:

Fine, fine! :P Next time I make a trip to the mall, I'll get it. If they don't have it, I'll... buy... something else!

Oh, she's insane!! It's fun times when she's around. Take for example, Friday night, when she sang directly into my ear in her best Marilyn Manson voice (She thinks he's the hottest thing alive. It's one of the few things we disagree on, though I do like his music), and then tackled me.

I actually have a Marilyn Manson voice that I sing in for the hell of it. I made my best friend listen to it at one point. We actually taped it. But you know, it really hurts one's throat.

Yeah, I've attempted. Actually, with this sore throat of mine, I could probably do a pretty decent imitation.

She wants to marry him!

I wonder how many pianos she has in her home. La Nicks has those two we saw in that photo spread of her Phoenix house and a keyboard or two. But, I see Chris with several as well. After all, she had them craned into hotel suites

I wonder is she, like Stevie, has a Bosendorfer and if so, if she ever plays in the extra octave on each side?

We need answers to these questions LOL

Honestly, it was probably an endorsement from Yamaha, that resulted in her preference. Nothing says "love" like a free grand piano.

I think you're becoming a curmudgeon in your old age, David. MTM is the best album Fleetwood Mac has ever released. That said, it is incomparable to ANY other Fleetwood Mac album due to its strength from track to track...no other Fleetwood Mac album can even come CLOSE to claiming that. There is NO weak link on MTM. Even their cover tune has been revamp to become a Fleetwood Mac song. Can't say that about ANY other cover that Fleetwood Mac has recorded...(well, maybe "Blue Letter")
