Two questions for the panel

1. What relation is Lori Nicks to Stevie?

2. I was told that some time ago, Lindsay in anger, actually hit or pushed Stevie during a performance. Is this true? Tell me this ain't so...

strandinthewind 10-26-2005 09:27 PM

1. What relation is Lori Nicks to Stevie?

Lori Nicks was Stevie's friend and back up singer since like 1978. In the late 80's she married Stevie's brother and they had a child.

2. I was told that some time ago, Lindsay in anger, actually hit or pushed Stevie during a performance. Is this true? Tell me this ain't so...

Mick Fleetwood wrote in his bio that LB kicked La Nicks at a concert. LB denies the incident.

Lori is her sister-in-law.

Umm...I think I heard that he pushed her against a car while they were making Tango in the Night, or something. No clue if it's true.

Well if it did happen, you'd think a bunch of people in the audience would have seen it also...

Thanks to you and all the other Ledgies, by the way, for providing all the info and insights. I don't know a whole bunch about FM and Stevie. This forum is like an encyclopedia!! I'm slowly becoming addicted!!!

Nicksluvver 10-26-2005 09:38 PM

What I hear about the LB incidents is what has been said so far, he threw her against a car and was grabbing her arms tightly and cursing at her, and that he kicked her onstage during a concert (not sure if these things are true) and didn't they talk about the fact the he was making fun of her and her dance moves on the Tusk tour, to the point that he had her in tears and Chris went after him and told him to quit it? I remember seeing FM talk about this somewhere...............It is clear in the Angel concert part of the Tusk documentary that he is busting her chops, Stevie looks over at him when he grabs onto her out of nowhere to sing with her in the mike and after he walks away like  , what the heck are you doing, weirdo!

No person I know of has ever come forward. But, it was in like New Zealand in like 1979 or 1980 - so the odds of someone reporting it are remote. So, take Mick's report for what you think it is worth. Also, a little research on this board will reveal previous threads on this issue if you are interested.

Have you ever seen the outtakes of those sessions

That she ever went back after the huge success of Bella Donna will never cease to amaze me. But, she did and I think that was way cool of her to do.

Wow, I so don't think that. I think it's the total opposite  They look really happy there and having a blast!

In that part I agree. And - she even aludes to it when she goes on in some later interview about how that scene was a real peep into how she and LB work together and the palpable chemistry between them.

No never saw the outtakes! Can you describe what I am not seeing with the regular release? I often wonder what would have happened if she hadn't stayed with The Mac. We will never know! ;)

I do not have them. Essentially, it is just more of the same working on the songs in the studio, though if I remember correctly, there are other scenes. Someone may have them and post them though. I wish I did.

I never saw it that way, but thats just my opinion. The way they are to each other from The Dance up until Soundstage is the way I love to see them, their joy to be onstage together doing what they love to do, the way they started out as Buckingham Nicks.

Mad4stevie 10-26-2005 10:05 PM

The Tusk Outtakes are cool - especially the part after Angel when LB turns his back to Stevie when she is talking about her harmonies for that song - Stevie makes fun of him behind his back - its GRRRRRRREEEAT!!!! I wish I could post it for download, but have no idea how to do that.

The Tango era issue was set out in Mick's book as well as a magazine article that came out around the time SYW was released. Supposedly, after LB announced that he was leaving the band, Stevie freaked out and started yelling at him, which caused him to yell back at her (something like "get that schizophrenic bitch away from me!!"). Stevie chased him outside and he slapped her and pushed her backward over the hood of a car. I don't remember what happened after that.

I do have the outtakes on a dvd (thanks again to Brian) - but I don't know how to rip it and post it online.

The scene of Stevie making fun of Lindsey behind his back is truly priceless! LOVE IT!!

danax6 10-26-2005 10:09 PM

Well, here it is with the recording sessions for Angel (I don't have the entire doc, if someone does, I would *love* to finally see it).

Except for when he starts butting into her abdomen with his head, obviously trying to knock her over. He has a lot of unresolved anger. I hate to see them during the Say You Will tour with all that anger. I can't even watch the "Tusk" performance from "Live in Boston" because that's so brutal to me. What if he gave her a concussion? Then what? I bet that would make him sorry, & Mick & John would break his fingers if he ever did that.

Didn't Lindsey once own up to the kick on stage? I remember hearing an interview with him where he didn't deny it - he was asked about it, and he said, yeah, it's possible I was little intoxicated and went a little too far. Wasn't it during the show where he pulled his shirt up over his head and mimicked Stevie with her shawls and stuff and danced around the stage making fun of her? The show where Chris and Stevie ran off stage after him at the end, and Chris threw her wine in his face and screamed at him never to do anything like that to the band again? Awful meanness. Amazing that those two have any kind of friendship today.

Am I making all this up? Or mixing up two different stories?

You aren't making it up. That's the story that Christine relayed...wish I could give you the exact source, but I remember this interview as well.

Yes, you are correct. Lindsey did not deny it. Here is the quote from Lindsey.

Mojo Magazine 12/03
"Oh, I wouldn’t doubt that I mimicked Stevie on-stage. And kicked her? That could have happened too."

Here is the quote from Chris regarding the incident.

Rolling Stone-October 30, 1997
(about an incident where Lindsey acted up on stage)"I think he's the only person I ever, ever slapped. I actually might have chucked a glass of wine, too. I just didn't think it was the way to treat a paying audience. I mean, aside from making a mockery of Stevie like that. Really unprofessional, over the top. Yes, she (Stevie) cried. She cried a lot."

Here is the quote from Stevie regarding the kicking incident.

Rolling Stone-October 30, 1997
(about an incident where Lindsey overreacted at a concert)"Lindsey was angry...just mad at me. That wasn't a one time thing. Lindsey and I had another huge thing that happened onstage in New Zealand. We had some kind of a fight, and he came over, might have kicked me, did something to me, and we stopped the show. He went off, and we all ran at breakneck speed back to the dressing room to see who could kill him first. Christine got to him fist, and then I got to him second... the bodyguards were trying to get in the middle of all of us."

I saw some outtakes of the Tusk documentary at a video storage place in Hollywood about 6 years ago. It took years to track them down and of course I couldn't get copies. I just happened to finally work with the right people once and asked a lot of questions about the storage. There was some suspicious stuff in there. An awesome video of Rhiannon that I would KILL to get a copy of. I never looked at the members of the band the same way again. That's for sure.

I've heard those same stories too about the kicking and mimicking...and Stevie does say a few time about how they'd "kill each other" if left together too long...so...there's a lot of ...something...there!

Rhiannon from the Tusk Tour?! Why didn't you grab it?

The outtakes I know about all came from you-know-where, but I don't think they included a Rhiannon, just a bunch of stuff at the mixing board, like recording "Sara."
