Cindy Sheehan

Cindy Sheehan, the so-called "peace mom" on a crusade to end U.S. involvement in the Iraq war, is publicly blasting Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., for her continued support of the ongoing conflict.

"I think she is a political animal who believes she has to be a war hawk to keep up with the big boys," Sheehan writes in an open letter posted on anti-Bush filmmaker Michael Moore's website. "I would love to support Hillary for president if she would come out against the travesty in Iraq. But I don't think she can speak out against the occupation, because she supports it. I will not make the mistake of supporting another pro-war Democrat for president again: As I won't support a pro-war Republican."

"I believe that the intelligent thing for Democrats to do for 2006 and 2008 would be to come out strongly and correctly against the botched, bungled, illegal, and immoral occupation of Iraq," Sheehan added.

The California woman, whose son Casey was killed fighting insurgents in Iraq, launched an anti-war movement when she camped outside President Bush's Crawford, Texas, ranch in August and demanded to meet with the commander in chief, drawing national media attention.

She was granted a meeting with Sen. Clinton to discuss the war effort, but says the Democrat "apparently" didn't listen, as the senator told a reporter for the Village Voice, "My bottom line is that I don't want their sons to die in vain. ... I don't believe it's smart to set a date for withdrawal. ... I don't think it's the right time to withdraw."

"That sounds like Rush Limbaugh to me," Sheehan said. "That doesn't sound like an opposition party leader speaking to me. What Sen. Clinton said after our meeting sounds exactly like the Republican Party talking points I heard from Senators Dole and McCain."

Rush Limbaugh

"There's trouble in paradise out there on the far left extreme which has become the Democrat base," Limbaugh responded today on his national radio program.

"You don't do this, folks. You don't publicly as a Democrat disavow a Clinton and live to do it again. Well, you just don't do it again and again without something happening. So she's one gutsy lady or stupid, one of the two. But something's going to happen to this woman. Something's going to silence her."

On a political messageboard online, one writer notes, "Who would have thought that Hillary's candidacy could be in trouble because she's not far enough to the left?"

Yes, she is about the resp. thing. However, I do not think we can immediately withdraw all troops from Iraq as we have to help that country get on its feet again after we immorally destroyed it. This is a sep. argument from they should not have been there in the first place and the troops should all have been home by now had W has any coherent plan to win the peace

but they WANT us out? I think they think they can do a better job if left to their own devices anyway.....if you think we should help them rebuild, then maybe we should just give them $$$$ and go away. (btw: that should be a ONE TIME payment, not a "forever guilt" type payment)

Well, we already gave them several billion dollars.

Also, I think the physical rebuilding is mostly done - or at least as much as we can. I am talking about training their new army and establishing their government - those should have been completed by now. That they are not is another example of the Bush Admin.'s incompetency and ignorance in thinking that they could change people overnight without a concrete plan in place.

Again, I think we need to leave as soon as possible but leaving these people to their own devices right now would be inhumane as we put them there.

A bunch of the money spent on rebuilding is unaccounted for it, lots of it was just squandered away. We should just get out of there. Interesting that she is called a "loon" while liberals are supposedly the name callers.

I mean I think it is safe to call someone something when it is true, and she really is a "loon", she has proven that I think. Even most Democrats have begun to distance themselves from her. I remember when she first came on the scene, Democrats were so excited they had a new "anti-war mom"...but rather quickly they found out that the lady is quite the media hog radical.

Ann has proven herself a "loon" too. Your opinion is not a fact, it is opinion.

Whatever you want to call it. Someone should suggest to her the benefits of psychiatric examinations! I promise you they wouldn't find Cindy to be a lucid individual.

and *A* could benefit from some microdermabrasion and some makeup not manufactured by Krayola; can you make that suggestion? or at the very least, send her to the Estee Lauder counter for a complimentary make-over.

like Suze said, that's just my opinion, not fact

Why he is not in jail for possession with intent to disctribute is a horrible mark on the judicial system. Does anyone think that if this had been some black teenager with all those thousands of pills they would not be under the jail by now addiction or not

He's also a massive hypocrite because he used to say that drug users should be punished severely. Also in accepting the ACLUs help. There are different sets of rules for different "classes" of people, in this life anyway.

estranged4life 10-20-2005 02:06 PM

That statement...

makes me think of the current Oklahoma AG Drew Edmondson (Democrat)

When he was the DA in Muskogee (He prosecuted me, So I know all about him...And no, I am not posting this out of malice, I did wrong and accepted my punishment like a REAL man would.) some friends of his were arrested at the Muskogee "Great Chili Cookoff" (At the Muskogee Civic Center) after officers discovered that they had over 2 kilos of cocaine in their possession. Instead of major jail time the DA recommended they be fined (!!!) and sent to drug rehab. These fellows had a long history of run-ins with the law, So why were they only fined and sent to rehab? Could it have been because of their friendship with Edmondson?

At the exact same time this happened a black teenager was caught with a vial that contained 1 crack cocaine rock, in his possession. This kid had never been in trouble a day in his life...What happened to him? He was sentenced to 10-15 years for charges ranging from "intent to distribute" to "drug trafficking".

Talk about injustice, It did cause Edmondson to lose his DA position in Muskogee...He decided to run for Okla DA years ago and not once was this brought up to derail his campaign.

Also on a related note, In Louisiana a few years back, Edmondson's (His brothers child, His brother is now an Oklahoma State judge) niece was arrested for armed robbery and shooting the store clerk, that left the clerk paralized and disfigured.

Edmondson always tried to protray that his niece was innocent and her then-boyfriend was the one guilty of this malicious act, He even tried to use his pull as Okla DA to get the state of Louisiana to drop all the charges (Absolute power corrupts absolute) saying there was 'no credible evidence that she was involved'. I wonder how he felt when a video surveillance tape appearred showing the complete robbery and who was the person that welded the gun and discharged it...Sure as hell wasnt the "then-boyfriend'.

After that tape was played nationally (Dateline ran a great story on the issue) the Edmondson family refused to discuss the matter at all, Even accussing the national media of baiting 'em with the uncovered surveillance footage.

makes you sick doesn't it. I cannot tell you how many people from rich or well connected families I have seen get off with a slap on the wrist for that very reason.

estranged4life 10-20-2005 02:19 PM

Exactly...

my point.

And yes it does make you sick. Why is it that nationally Oklahoma has the highest percentage of blacks incarcerated in prison for drug related issues? Some say it isnt hard to figure out why (ie-Okla AG Edmondson).

This state is the worse place to be arrested on drug charges...Unless you have money (ie-Mr.Drughead "Home Alone 8" Culkan) or good connections you're basically screwed.
