Sara?
Ok, I'm not sure if you know this but i am obsessed with sara. I especially loved it during the syw tour( not too crazy about the red oriental coon thingy). So lets use this board to say if we think it will be played on the next tour...if there is one! if they do tour i don't think it will ever be played again!:distress: ...so what do yo think?

I love every version i've ever heard of this song, and it's one of her most moving for me. I would love to see her dust it off again and do it on tour (and I totally think there will be "just one more"). If Beautiful child can make it, anything's possible!

"Sara" is something that, to me, should be a staple in her set like "Stand Back" or "Dreams". It's one of her most gorgeous songs and it was a high charting single for the Mac, so I just can't imagine it not finding "a home" somewhere on stage. It is a highlight of the night...

I liked a lot Sara on SYW tour, and when I heard the Madison boot I got emotional as the people there I think. Said that, I hope more to have the chance to listen to Storms or SOTM live during the next tour (there must be another one... please?). :D

My personal opinion is that it was a one shot deal because there was SO much demand for her to sing it. I dont think she really likes performing it, but since the fans demanded it, she did it, and beautifully BTW:thumbsup:

I agree that I have loved every version of Sara I've ever heard and that says a lot. I'm not sure I can say that about any other song, even my favorite of all time, Rhiannon.
We should post some awesome versions. |

I really love the song too. I dont think they would do it live again...I think this tour was a splurge for them to a certain degree in case they dont tour again. What with tracks like I Know I'm Not Wrong, Beautiful Child, etc...I really enjoyed seeing it live since I did not think they would perform it ever again. I think the Tusk album version is superior, but I also like the 1980 Live album version too. |

Her version in Madison at the opening night of that leg of the tour was one of the most awe inspiring things I have ever seen her do. I stood there mouth agape crying, smiling, and shaking. When she walked over to LB's mic. I thought I grew weak. It was the highlight for me.
I also love the Cleaning Lady version because it is so up. The most boring to me is the album version and it is still brilliant to these ears. |

Here is the link to the Madison Sara. I have it on video, but do not know how to put that on my comp. Enjoy! |
Cleaning Lady is definately my favorite version....
I loved Lindsey's little guitar parts during the song on the SYW Tour....ya know... the "dadadum dadadum"...very pretty. This song makes me cry when I hear it. It's so passionate. I'm so glad I got to hear it live. |
BTW....I'm SO glad Gypsy was cut for Sara. 100% better.

I loved WTWCT live. I'm the odd man out on that one. In all honestly, Stevie should have added a song in place of Silver Springs. When it was dropped (due to her "vocal problems"), it left a void in the set that needed filled. ISA into Tusk...nah....needed a Stevie song in there.....like Angel. :woohoo: |

I never get tired of Sara. My favorite Stevie song along with Gypsy. If she would have sang Sara on every tour I would have loved it. Basically every time I listen to it I break down in tears. I think the lyrics and her vocal are very powerful. Major emotion.

Thanks for posting that clip! I was at the Nassau Colliseum show by myself ,crying during Sara and Beautiful Child and through out the whole show. Something happens to me emotionally when I see S and L on stage together now, as opposed to the 70's and 80's. Back then I was such I crazed fan that I cried, now its like seeing 2 old friends who have really reconnected and it comes out in this beautiful music that I get to hear them sing. Its magical.

OMG.....I love hearing the people who are flabbergasted at the surprise!! I wish I could have been there. It was awesome getting to hear her do it twice in Texas, but I can't imagine being so totally surprised.... *sigh*

Thank you so much for posting that video clip. The only time I've ever seen her do Sara is from the tusk doc and that was a shortened version of it (although it does really choke me up when I watch it). I've had the worst day, and watching that just totally made my evening. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I could picture her doing this solo. . . . Could be wrong but I think maybe it's hard for her, though. But it's maybe her most-beautiful song and I'm sure she knows that and knows that we miss it. I guess sometimes 'ya gotta put it on the shelf awhile and just let it sit there for a bit. . . . From You Know Who, 2000 or so: "I think she'll be doing this for donkey's years!" |

don't forget who Produced and Arranged "Tusk" - no???? :blob1: :) |

Oops! That was the Beladonna tour, right? I do have that. But I have to admit, I'm not really crazy about that one. My favorite part of the whole song is the ending where she does all the vocal ad libs and she kind of washes over "all I ever wanted" and then runs off to do a costume change. My all time favorite Sara was Melborne 1980. If there was a video of that I think I would just pass out from excitement. That is also an example of why Lindsay pisses me off. He starts off announcing this incredibly beautiful song with "This was our last single... we have a new single but we're not playing it", and then says something under his breath like, "I don't know why", like a little spoiled child. But with great genius often comes major attitude. I've often thought that of Lou Reed too. Amazing guitarist but I'd never want to meet him. LOL! |
Speaking of Sara, has anyone ever heard this mysterious 17 minute version Stevie has mentioned before, with the many verses that people haven't heard.
