What does Stevie think of Brian Wilson's "Stevie"?
 

Does anyone know if Stevie has been quoted to say anything about the song that Brian Wilson wrote for her?

I've never heard it. Can anyone post it?

I understand that he wrote this around 1980 with Dennis. And it's somewhat of a bootleg. I've not heard the song, but a group called St Etienne has released it on one of their albums.

I believe Lindsey and Brian Wilson are friends, and remember that Christine McVie was dating Dennis Wilson at the time of his death. So, they probably hung out together some.

I don't know if it was a couple. Maybe I'm mixing up Brian with Dennis.

Awww poor Lindsey, I know he was far from a saint, but why did his friends do that to him? I wonder how he found out that Dennis was with his gf - which gf was it? At least Mick told him about Stevie, but maybe only because they were in the Mac together.

Did anyone ever hear back then that she hooked up with Brian? We know she slept with Dennis but Brian?!? That song is sort of....obsessive! No wonder she has never commented on it. Poor Linds...all his male friends seemed to want her. :p Now that I think about it, she really did hook up with alot of his friends! What an incestuous mess back then. :D

Certainly male songwriters have composed nods to fellow male songwriters in the past (Lindsey's "Johnny Stew," John Stewart's "Liddy Buck," the Commodores' "Nightshift," and so on), but it seems pretty strange for one straight man to sing these lyrics to another straight man:

I think I read that in Cath Carroll's book.

He probably wouldn't even forward it to her. Come to think of it, she hasn't answered any Ask Stevie questions in quite awhile. I am sure she was incredibly busy this summer but she did send us some letters/journals entries. I asked one or two questions a few years ago and never got an answer. :(

I think I agree with you...The song is o.k. I guess, I just have this mental picture of the Partridge Family singing harmony in the background....it just doesn't sync in my mind.

Maybe he wrote it about Stevie from like Lindsey's perspective or someone else's but not his. Stevie and any beach boy..................scares me :sorry:
