Fire Burning (Strangely Bright Mix)

Hi everyone. I finished my first dance mix from those fabulous acapella tracks that Dreammms was kind enough to post. Let me know what you think. So may I present to you: Fire Burning (Strangely Bright Mix).

mmmkay, I love the beginning. But I love this song. And I love the beginning of this song. So I'll get back to you.
thank you, hella clean. :)

okay, I'm back to you.
hmm, I like that beat, but I think this song, or really, Stevie's voice, needs some kind of plush or soft element in the background. A little tiny bit more note. Some parts sound really good without any "note" though, mainly the "I will, you know" part. That sounds good with just the beat, that whole refrain, all the way through "well I got no more! Information for you!"
That's just my opinion, obv.
Thanks again. I can't wait for this to suprise me on my playlist while I'm doing dishes or something.
Oh, and I like the end, but mainly because sometimes I'm a dancing whore. The repetitive "well there's no fire, etc." is cool, but again, I'd try to incorporate one tiny warm note if I could, to soften/go with Stevie's voice.

My point is, Stevie's new voice isn't especially soft or pretty, so it often needs a bit of padding.

Thanks...me likes!!

Have fun, tell the world.

UndoingTheLaces 10-14-2005 03:45 PM

Thanks, everyone. I'm glad you like it.

And Richard B, I think Long Way To Go is gonna be next. That one really lends it self to a dance beat, I think. :)

Very cool...I'm looking forward to it.

I love it because I use this cool remixes to work out to. The faster beat keeps me going and going and going on the treadmill.

MacMan 10-14-2005 06:29 PM

I'm no remix expert, but I like this!.. Lots going on in the mix. Thanks!

It's cool Amber, I like all kinds of feedback, thank you. I kept the ending pretty sparse musically because I thought all those lavish background vocals should be highlighted. They make enough music with thier voices that you don't really need too much else musically, just a good beat. Plus, this is a dance mix, so I wanted to keep the energy flowing.

When I jump into Rooms On Fire and Ooh My Love I'll make sure to try and do more with the background music. Those are softer songs too. I just really thought Fire Burning was a sort of tough edged song, so I really pushed for a heavy beat. I think Long Way to Go is going to be hard also, because of it's angry sounding vocal and mean spirited lyrics. I also think Ghosts needs to be very trance and ambient sounding. It's such a beautiful song that I can't see putting a heavy drum track to it.

Thanks MacMan, I remember when I got the remix CD of Cher's Believe and was so disappointed that there was only one good mix out of the eight or so mixes that were on it. Most of them just lazily tacked on the vocal to a really repetitive dance track, often one that didn't even fit with the theme of the song. I like dance and trance but a lot of it is soooo repetitive that it drives me crazy, so all my remixes (and my original compositions) have a lot going on in them. I've done several scores for... um... well, a certain type of movie. Music is a passion for me.

Now if I could get ahold of an acapella of Stand Back. I'd love to do a mash-up of her vocal against the music of Little Red Corvette. ;)

Ah, I see your point! I actually disagree for the same reason. But not about the ending, I was thinking of another part. It is hard edged, and so I wanted a bit of something to de-roughen stevie's vocal (only on a few parts though, I want to make it clear that I thought it was good. ) so that it blended a bit better.
I like your ideas for the others. I, personally, have a theory that softer more fluid song can take a bit heavier, non melodic beat, but I'm certainly no expert. Not even close, really.
I agree about Ghosts, though.
I can't wait to hear, Long Way to Go is one of my current favorites, along with Fire Burning. Thank you again. :xoxo: Oh, and I think LWTG could easily take a heavy beat.:p

I Love this!!!!!!! She should do a remix album

This remix is smokin' !!!! Got a question. How are you doing this? I fool around a lot with Acid Pro 4.0 Are you using this program or Sound Forge or some other editing software? I love the way you did the ending of the song.

InDreams 10-15-2005 09:37 PM

Hey, this was really great! You did a wonderful job! Thanks a lot!

RavenOfRhiannon 10-16-2005 10:21 PM

i can't wait for it!!!...what program do you use to remix these songs?? I have often thought of trying my hand at it, but have always downloaded really crappy free programs that didn't do a thing I wanted it to!!!
Thanx for fire burning, can't wait for long way to go!!!:blob2:

Thank you so much for all the compliments, everyone.

Actually, SandyMac and desrtangl I use Acid Pro 2.0 (I know, I really need to update my software, LOL). I tend to layer a lot of different instruments together when I make music and use the pitch control function to take a single instrument and make my own melody and basslines. I'm also always on the look for new loops so I have a variety to work with.

And yes, I agree with what many of you had said about a Stevie Remix album. After hearing the club mix of Planets of the Universe I think it would be cool to hear some of today's big DJ's doing their takes on Stevie favorites. I also found an acapella track of Gold And Braid, so maybe that will be a future remix. We'll see. :)

you've inspired me to try this!!

give me a few years though...

it would be cool to hear a medley (am I lame or what?) of a whole bunch of songs remixed

thanks for posting that :woohoo:

You need to purchase it. It is from Sony Media Software
http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/pro...acidfamily.asp

First you buy the Acid software and then you can either download some sound loops or buy them via CD. I just purchased the "Chicago Fire" club music loops.
Still playing around with all the different loops on this set.
