what do we think of the new Fiona Apple?

Just picked it up a couple hours ago and am giving it my first listen. I really like it. Has a great sort of Burlesque sound to it and of course her great sexy low voice. Anyone else heard it yet?

DavidMn 10-05-2005 03:21 PM

No, but she's always someone who's intrigued me. Maybe I'll go check it out.

JazmenFlowers 10-05-2005 03:29 PM

I've only heard Extraordinary Machine and I like it. I also hear the burlesque-type sound...it's supposed to be extremly well written. I'm just in limbo tho.

I don't know her very well aside from Criminal and the more popular songs. But I'd heard good things about so picked it up on a whim. I say, pick it up! It's quite a good listen. :wavey:

It's out TODAY?!?!?!?!?!?

Oh crap ... off to count pennies.

I've heard the Net bootleg version from earlier this year, but I hear it's been reworked quite a bit. There a great article/interview & review in the current Rolling Stone, if you have access to one. Not sure it's on their website.

"I'll make the most of it - I'm an Ex-traordinary Machine! *DING*" :]

It was released yesterday. :) It is quite a bit different from the leaked version. It's much, much better, imo. I think it's a great album.

For some reason, I had late October stuck in my head.

And I LOVED the leaked version. I just checked the website - you can stream the album on her Myspace page. Good. I'm all out of pink satin dresses and abalone shells to sell.

I really like it, sure it isnt as bitter as the previous two albums, but I do agree it has a burlesque pop scene going. Reminds me of Regina Spektor.

It's a perfect combination of brilliant songwriting and innovative production. Mike Elizondo and Jon Brion are currently the best producers around. I'd say it's brilliant and ever better than her first two combined. She's a true talent and has matured her songwriting. There's so much detail and so many little lyric play-on-words. Everyone should check it out.

God, I can't wait to get it. Looks like I'll be scrounging about the house for change.

GarboSpeaks! 10-06-2005 02:56 AM

I so could not afford to get this yesterday. Realistically I couldn't afford to get it today either, but I did! Was $14.99 for the Duel Disc version w/ a mail in rebate. Gee waiting 10-12 weeks for a $3 refund isn't so bad.

Onto the album...I'm not enamored...YET! There is no this albums version of Paper Bag, imo, one of the greatest songs ever. Thus far, am gonna have to go with Ex Machine, Better Version of Me, and Red,Red, Red. That's as far as I got. Had to turn off Not About Love. Have been battleing a MASSIVE headache all day, and it was just too much song activity for my head, if that makes any sense.

Fiona Apple is a majorly gifted songwriter, performer, and even if I hate the album in the long run (c'mon, that's SO not gonna happen) I'm just happy to support her artistic release after this six year battle. UNfrickinreal! What I really want to accomplish is seeing her live for finally. Never happened. Any Bay Area fans come with? I hate going to shows alone. It's 11/25 at the Warfiled, MY FAV venue EVAH. No info on tix yet.

Lastly, can't wait to explore the flip side of the CD/DVD whatever to catch the extra stuff. Onward tomorrow!

I just got it today and I'm loving what I hear so far. She really knows how to bring out the angst in the Merfdawg. Not like that's hard to do.

Love it!

Hi everyone, It's been a while since I've been around....Lots of things have been going on in my life...new boyfriend (first in three years), quit smoking October 23rd, and well, it's been a busy time for me.

I wanted to say that I saw Fiona Apple in concert last Friday at The Paramount Theatre in Denver, and OH MY GOSH she was amazing! I have never in my life been so thrilled and so entertained at a conceret ever before (sorry Stevie). She truly was brilliant.

After the show, my frineds and I ran into the alley behind the venue with some other fans and waited for Fiona. My friends...well...they were pretty damn blitzed. It was contagious. We screamed and screamed for Fiona to come and see us...we were crazy, and I'm sure we terrified poor little Fiona.

Anyhow if you have the chance to see her on this current tour, don't let it slip away! You certainly won't regret it!

I'm drunk. I'm in love. I have to go.

:wavey: :wavey: :wavey:

Love it. Fiona is great and she's been MIA way too long. Glad she's back and her new album is nothing short of amazing.

JazmenFlowers 12-07-2005 02:27 PM

I think Fiona is greatly underrated. I haven't picked up her new album, but I like what I've heard.
