Nip/Tuck - Season 3

I'm liking the season so far. It got off to a slow start considering the big cliffhanger last season, but I thought tonight's episode was a real return-to-form.

I won't spoil it for you West Coast Ledgies - but the placement of Lionel Richie's "Stuck on You" was just about the best use of music in any show ... ever.

SPOILER

When Costa starting grabbing Christian's ass, I shrieked with laughter. The sheer amount of sex in this episode was shocking. Rhona Mitra is a bloody riot. Were you just hoping that Sean would beat the **** out of Matt? I was.

I was so happy when Sean and Julia schtupped each other, too.

Nixxxed 10-04-2005 10:38 PM

I laughed out loud 4 or 5 times during this episode. And yes, the biggest laugh was when Sean finally clocked Matt. I know he's been through a lot, but he conveniently left out the real bit that started his downward spiral - when he got stoned and ran over that chick.

And speaking of stoned, my fave scene of the entire show's run so far was when Matt and Grandma Erica got baked last week:

- Matt (smirking when she catches him): "Want a hit?"
- Erica pauses, then grabs the bong.
- Erica (coughing and hacking): "You poor younger generation kids just don't know what *good* pot tastes like. This is sh*t!!!"

:]

She's brilliant, but could her character have a worse name? Kit McGraw does not go with that lovely accent.

PS: I hate Dr. Costa. The slimy little bastard.

I can't escape the feeling that Dr. Costa is The Carver - dunno why. I know he's from Atlanta or something, but he obviously has the means to travel at will.

And are we the only 3 watching? Or the only 3 who will admit it?

So far their plastic surgery storylines have been great - especially the first episode with the lady whose skin had fused with her couch, and last night's frat boy initiation gone wrong. "Stuck on You" indeed.

bikerchic 10-05-2005 02:28 PM

I haven't caught every episode, but the one I did see last week (I think it may have been the season premier), where he's in bed with the detective(?) and his girl walks in and he say's something along the line of "Hi Baby, I'm back" and then she join's them. That was so funny. Sorry if this has already been discussed, I'm alittle slow.

No, it hasn't been discussed. And I love how it led to this week's almost-4-way including Dr. Costa. "It's not my girlfriend I'm having a problem with - it's my girlfriend's girlfriend... Wanna help?"

Oh, and I keep meaning to tell you: My Dad loves your hog (he was reading over my shoulder the other day). He has a couple himself - one small 1980 sport model, and one huge behemoth complete with a sidecar. They're a life-long interest for him, and they really make him happy. As for the rest of us, it's fine. Except when he's trying to adjust the carburetor at 7:00 AM on a weekend, or brings home Harley t-shirts that say stuff like "If you can read this, the bitch fell off" on the back.

I love Nip/Tuck, I have just been avoiding this thread because I haven't watched this weeks show. I have it Tivoed. I loved last week ~ well, I think I did. It really got to me. I don't care for Matt & he sure got his but the other guy that was in the gang that was beat up bothered me. I loved when Julia walked in to find her mom smoking out. That rocked.

I got the feeling from last night's episode that Costa might be The Craver, but then thought it would be too obvious. I think the writers are just using him as a red herring. They said it will be a main character though. It just better not be Liz with a strap on or I'll boycott. :p

BTW- I loved when Sean punched Matt in the face.

"You wouldn't mess up your perfect work."

"I already have."
Classic.

Yeah - that beating was pretty harsh. Were they just "jumping him out" (or whatever it's called), or did they kill him? I was so shocked by the trannies peeing on Matt that I never really noticed if the gang banger was alive at the end.

And sorry if we spoiled last night's episode. I waited as long as I could. :p

That would be way left-field, and I would be very upset also. However, given all the crap she's taken from Christian over the years, it would be poetic justice given that the Carver raped Christian.

And - something else I wondered - do the victims *feel* what The Carver is doing? I know he injects them with a drug that paralyzes them. But does it take away sensation as well as motor control?

Me, too. I'll stop watching it, that's just too insane for me. Kimberly blowing up the complex on Melrose I can take, but not Liz with a strap-on.

It would be a gas if it was Matt, that's for sure.

I've never heard of this show. Could someone give me the cliff notes version of what it's about?

Sex, drugs, and plastic surgery.

But seriously - http://www.fxnetworks.com/shows/orig...tuck/main.html

Seasons 1 & 2 are on DVD, and you can buy or rent them. And if you hurry, you can be caught up by next Tuesday!

Also, the current episode repeats on Friday and Sunday nights that I've seen, and maybe even more days given cable programming lately.

Tell your dad thank you. Your dad's bike's sound interesting. Pictures? Ya, hubby's been known to tweak a few engines early in the morning, (and I mean the motorcycles  ) but that's ok, cause it usually means we're goen riden. You'll have to tell your dad that I have a t-shirt that say's "I Didn't Fall Off, I Ride My Own"

Here's Big Mama. Don't currently have pics of the sportster, tho - we took pics for insurance purposes before the storm a few weeks ago, but those are in the safety deposit box.

http://users4.ev1.net/~iansnana/hogdog.jpg

The sidecar was originally purchased for my Mom or nephew to ride in, but you can see who ultimately claimed the seat. You wouldn't believe the looks he gets zooming around town with Makita drooling out the side. And yes, she has her own helmet - I have no idea why she's not wearing it in this pic.

But have I even been OFFERED a ride in the sidecar? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

(Sorry - a little bitter. )

bikerchic 10-05-2005 09:46 PM

^Very nice  First question, what year are the bikes? Do you call your dad big mama, because if you do that is hilarious! you probably meant the bike. When you get your pictures back, I would love to see a picture of the sportster (that's what mine is). That is really cute with the dog in it. You need to get him some doggie goggle's  . Does your dad do much riding, take any long trips? You memtioned the storm, were you affected?

Here are some pictures from my web site of a photo shoot we did for a truck newspaper (hubby works in the trucking industry). The old black FLH is his and the girls are my niece and her friend. They work for us.

I agree that Costa being the Carver is a red herring.

I still think it's Jill Clayburgh's character with a strap-on....

Oh, I'm a HUGE fan as well. Just got around today to watching Tuesday's episode I TIVO'd, so I avoided this thread until then. I rarely watch anything on TV anymore, but I do not miss this show. I have the first two seasons on DVD and have passed them around to friends and family who have all become hooked on it.

This week's episode was pretty great. Last week with the ape was kind of dull until Matt got the **** kicked out of him. But this week with Quinten grabbing Christian's ass and Sean hitting Matt...awesome!

I could talk about this show forever, but I gotta go eat soon. Chuck, ever been to the Fish Spot? (No, don't read into that any further!) Best burgers in TC...thinking I'm gonna do that for lunch today.

Brad

SPOILERS

OMG. I fell out of my chair at the end of tonight's episode. I was SHOCKED when The Carver's latest victim turned out to be Kit. I was thinking Kimber, but it was Kit. Great episode, too; the best of the season. Loved that scene between Christian and Kathy Baker, I hope they bring her back.

LOL - I looked at that woman and immediately thought, "Jill Clayburgh," and that's what stuck.

Livia 10-19-2005 10:07 AM

Loved last nite's episode. I seriously felt the tension between Christian and Sean.

The ending?

As soon as Christian said, "Tell me what you don't like about yourself," I actually said out loud, "It's Kit!"

JazmenFlowers 10-19-2005 10:19 AM

I must start watching this show. My 2 best friends at work are in love with this show and it sounds awesome, but I hate to start in the middle of season 3. I think they re-run this week's show on Friday so I'll catch it then.

I seriously thought it was going to be Kimber and felt like I had been punched in the nads when it turned out to be Kit. And the look on her face and in her eyes was positively chilling.

Season one and two are out on DVD, and season one is only $15.99 this week at Best Buy! You must start watching it, it's the best. Everything about it is perfection; the acting, the outrageous plots, the music (no other show has such an amazing soundtrack: Blondie, Supertramp, Lionel Richie, Bowie, Rolling Stones, etc.). I think something in my heart will die when it runs it's course.

Awesome. I'll have to pick those up.

ok, so I watched the last episode Sunday night...when does the new episode come on? is it tonight?

Livia 10-25-2005 09:34 AM

Yep - 10 PM Eastern/9 central. And then they rerun the same episode immediately.

Livia 10-26-2005 09:47 AM

Jazmen-did you watch? *spoilers*

 Great episode!! I thought the creepy dude in jail was going to say, "My sister" when he said "Her name is Laura....she's my sister." Why do I sense these things? I'm as twisted as the writers. :D

Gina? :D

And next week! Joan is back! And Ann Heche-Lafoon-Whatever...

JazmenFlowers 10-26-2005 10:39 AM

I did watch. It was so good. The guy in jail totally freaked me out, but, like you, I had a sense that he was related to the girl. McNamara needs to be on Prozac. And the last scene with the old woman getting the facelift made me want to puke...and I was like, hello, there's a woman on the table, fight later...you know.

I can't wait for next week's. I didn't even recognize Anne at first and love that Joan will be on...smearing, um, "fertilizer", on her face...ha!

Last night's show was indeed creepy. But I think McNamara is beyond the point to be helped by Prozac - maybe electroshock?

And something has been bugging me about last week's episode about Christian's wrongful arrest. Are we supposed to assume that Kit did plant the evidence in the victim's house? I just can't imagine The Carver doing that, especially if he took revenge on Kit for saying Christian was the murderer... If Kit didn't plant the condom, etc., then who did?

And I was surprised they were so subtle about Gina's porta-potty activities in last night's show. Especially given the sexual scenarios they've shown overtly in the past.

But I'm looking forward to Joan's return next week! "I love face cream!"
