"My Heart"
Why wasnt this on Trouble in Shangri-la? It would have been huge as a single, i htink...can anyone post this on yousentit so i can actually save it to my drive?
thanx! brian |
Oooh I like this song. Not at first, but now wow, yes. I love the guitar parts on it. Wish it would have been on the album instead of 'Too Far From Texas.'
|
the song sucks, Stevie was wise not to include it.
If only she'd done the same with TMMS, TFFT, and LC. |

"My Heart" is such sludge. She was a fool for not including that stellar version of "Thrown Down," but a wise woman for ditching "My Heart." |

I like the lyrics of My Heart, and the melody - but I hate the instrumentation. I do not believe it would have been a big single. But, Brian, if you PM me your email, I can send it to you. |

I like My Heart. I really do. And I like the guitar parts on it. I just like it. Maybe one day it will see the light of day other than being swapped around amongst us FM/Stevie fans. On the other hand, I've never been a big fan of Space needle.

Because they wanted to make sure we were exposed to the stunning brilliance and heart-stopping emotional imagery of "That Made Me Stronger?" . . . . omg what were they thinking?  Nice song but compared to "My Heart?" Please. |
I like the way the opening line sounds....it should have stopped after that!
|
I think My Heart had radio hit written all over it.
|
Great song... Has a very finished sound to it and the ending is stellar.. for those of you who don't like it, what can i say, you have bad taste
for those of you who haven't heard it yet, here it is: http://s42.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3...I1UUDEKTVLPBTV :wavey: |
I just can't get into this song at all. Granted I haven't listened to it on constant spin either. Maybe I ought to give it another shot. I don't hate it by any means, but it really does nothing for me. Had it been on the album, I would have been disappointed. See my "hatah" remarks in prior threads to God's Garden & When I See You Again. Non-thriller songs.

Definately! I love My Heart. The lyrics are quite cool and the finished sound makes me think Stevie liked the song just fine. It was probably dropped for some dumb reason... Space Needle..not a big fan. I never understand the fans raving about this song. Tar people? Shudder. I do like the guitar playing though! |
I actually like My Heart, although I can see why it was dropped. Something about it does not sound finished to me.
And Space Needle is a cool song, but not a fav. |
I like My Heart, especially for her vocals, but on TISL I would have preferred much more Space Needle, that is for me one of her masterpieces.

Warning: something Hillary has already said eighty times
Well, it's better than "I Miss You," if anything.

When/where is this song from? Was it a TISL outtake?

...and I love it! |

Space Needle however was sadly overlooked and should have been included on TISL. |

I was listening to My Heart again today in the car. And thinking, why why why didn't this song make it to TISL? Well, here's what I came up with: I wonder if Stevie herself didn't like how it turned out and so decided not to use it. She's done that before, right? Many a song has required Lindsey's magic after someone else has had a go at it and gone nowhere good. The lyrics are strong, but the instrumentation really bites. Also, I'd LOVE to hear her sing it now. I think her voice has actually improved since she recorded TISL - I'd love to hear it brought down an octave, and maybe taken down a notch in terms of the feel of the song - it's too... 80s rocking right now. So, bottom line: I think there's hope we may see/hear this song done and recorded again and released, if there ever is another SN or FM album. I think in the right hands, this song could be brilliant. It just hasn't gotten there yet. |
My Heart
It was an obvious attempt to be commercial, so I'm surprised it wasn't included. I do like the song, but I can see how some fans wouldn't like it. She uses a lot of cliches throughout the song and the chorus isn't super original. It's a song that could have been done by Faith Hill, kind of generic (sorry Faith Hill fans!). I do, however, think it's a stronger track than Every Day.
|
- it's too... 80s rocking right now.
kinda like running through the garden!:distress:  |
i love this song. every part of this song. every verse and chorus and note. even the loud, flashy intro. i think her vocals are particularly strong, especially when pitted against TISL tracks like Love Changes and TMMS.
and Space Needle is near perfection. :wavey: |
My Heart is one of my favorite demos, I even adore the cliche lines like "windows like the eyes to the soul". Why in world did she give us That Made Me Stronger and not this??? Maybe it'll make it on a new Stevie record...
|
I can just see it being so commercially popular, like something they'd show on the regular VH1 rotations instead of only on the classic one.

I would like to echo this request, I have never heard space needle, and the way that everyone RAVES and raves about my heart, s, the chorus- Awsome, the lyrics - cliche, but awsome the music, very catchy, I just gant get over those notes in the verses! But I want to give it another try. Maybe I missed something? |

I haven't listened to the song in ages, but still remember my shock at it's mediocrity. OMG....the swell of strings on the first verse...at the second line. Yikes. |

I like the chorus, and the band work. Actually I really like the band work, the notes chosen, etc.
The lyrics are readily accessible, but not brilliant. Still they are evocative. I find myself wistfully longing for things on some occasions when I listen to this song. And, I have to note, Edge of Seventeen doesn't really contain much lyrical brilliance. I don't like the beginning, or all the non chorus parts. Soooo nasal. so nasal. so nasal! overall, though, I'm pretty happy when it comes on my ishuffle. I just wait for the chorus, and listen to the notes. :) I rarely listen to it on purpose at home, though. |
