ACADEMY Award-nominated actors, international fashion plates and a bona-fide rock legend are among the big names confirmed for Flemington during Melbourne Cup week.

Fleetwood Mac songbird Stevie Nicks is flying in for Cup Week as the guest of tour promoter Andrew McManus

The legendary rock beauty will hold court in the exclusive Andrew McManus Presents marquee on Melbourne Cup Day.

Nicks will add extra star power to Emirates Stakes Day with a race named in her honour. American Idol winner-turned-chart-topper Kelly Clarkson will also be a guest in the Andrew McManus Presents marquee, as will a revitalised INXS.

Meanwhile Chloe Sevigny will be at the Motorola Razrbar in the Birdcage on Derby and Cup days.

The actor and fashion muse, who was nominated for an Oscar in 1999 for her role in Boys Don't Cry, has been signed as the phone giant's Spring Carnival Ambassador.

TV's hottest housewife Eva Longoria will swap Wisteria Lane for the Flemington Birdcage on Derby Day as Myer's Spring Carnival Ambassador.

Longoria will judge Myer's Fashions on the Field.

Bold and the Beautiful star Ronn Moss will be at the Emirates Marquee on Derby Day while Queer Eye For the Straight Guy's Carson Kressley is expected to be a Cup guest of Myer.

He's the guy that makes the deals with all the bands and their companies etc to decide whether or not they make the trip down here and how many shows/what cities they are going to perform at.

I don't know if he brings them ALL over..............but at least 90% of the concerts that are advertised for over here are thru him :D

let's hope he's a big ass Stevie fan :)

I was thinking about going to Paris in the new year but I could be persuaded to go to Australia. :laugh:

:laugh: That is so true! I think Lindsey and Don Henley the top "non-gross" guys. Beyond that it gets very sketchy. Joe Walsh comes to mind. That one really baffles me.

This McMannus guy is probably the one who is going to be promoting her tour and hooked her up with the Melbourne Symphany. Obviously this horse race is promotion for that. A relationship with a man in Aussie would be kind of difficult when Stevie has been there once in the last decade. She is only going back because she accepted an invitation to perform with the Orchestra.

One thing I am wondering....is she performing with the Orchestra in November and not February? I think this is a little bit past the planning stages. I just cannot see her flying to Austr. in November and then back again in Feb. Perhaps the shows are going to be in November? Or she is going to rehearse? No, that makes no sense...flying the band down a few months early to rehearse is crazy.

I can't wait for this, I am so excited, I am defiantly going to the Melbourne Cup and going to sneak into the marquee where Stevie will be.

I can't believe you guys have never heard of the Melbourne Cup, only one of the biggest horse races in the world, my guess is that Stevie is a guest of Andrew McManus because he is Fleetwood Macs Tour promoter for Say you will in Australia anyway and I would say Stevie is going with too for next year.

I am so excited about Stevie coming here, finally she is coming to Australia.

This is so exciting to me, as a both a horse-person and Stevie/FM fanatic, that I thought it would be a good time to register for the board! (I've been reading for years, and used to be registered once upon a time, but lost all my info when I got a new computer..just been reading since!)

I wonder what her race will be called?? The Stevie Nicks Cup?? The Stand Back Stakes?? :rolleyes: I do hope they get a bit imaginative though ~ Rhiannon is "the Goddess of Steeds"!

He's a tour promoter - the money man... She's touring Australia in the new year... She needs to secure hard currency... He promotes tours in Australia, makes sense to me to meet the guy. Kelly Clarkson is his guest as well - and she's also touring there - so it's not like Stevie is the only that was invited...

Looks like Stevie will indeed be doing the Australia thing in February as she said..this from Taku's site :

"As of now, I don't think Stevie will be doing any performances (at least with her band) until we go to Australia in February. You never know, though."
