Think About Me

I NEVER NEVER get tired of this song. probably right behind Songbird in my Christine top list of songs. thoughts? also I cant remember, did it make the top 10 or 20?

GypsySorcerer 09-27-2005 02:38 AM

Top 20, I believe. I love it too. It always puts me in a good mood, and I love Lindsey's "Ow!"

TAM has ALWAYS been one of my top 5 FM songs. I can't understand why it's not more popular. It rocks! And yeah, the "ow" rules.

macfan 57 09-27-2005 05:48 AM

"Think About Me" got up to #20 on the Billboard singles chart. It probably would have done better, but I think unfortunately alot of people were just turned off by Tusk by the time the single was released. I think it's one of Fleetwood Mac's most underrated songs. It's another great Christine/Lindsey collaboration. It's my second favorite Chris song on Tusk.

jbrownsjr 09-27-2005 11:37 AM

Awesome tune!! I like every cut i've ever heard. Great harmonies!

Actually, I think some of that was due to it really not going over all that well live. Either the band wasn't all that thrilled about playing it, or the audience reaction wasn't up to the bands' expectations or something. When I saw 'em play it the last two nights of the Tusk tour at the Hollywood Bowl, it was really lackluster. Which disappointed me, because I hear it being a real crowd-grabber, like "Say You Love Me" or "Don't Stop".

Richard B 09-27-2005 12:53 PM

Great tune. I actually really love the outtake version off of Tusk Remastered, Disc 2, Track 3.

This is one song that pops in my head and I'll just sing it wherever I am.

Dreammms 09-27-2005 01:45 PM

Awesome song. I am surprised it never got more airplay too. Catchy lyrics and music.

ontheEdgeof17 09-27-2005 02:26 PM

I like it a lot. It has the perfect mix of rock and pop. I do think, however, that Lindsey overpowers Chris in the song....kinda like he shoved his way into a Chris song and threw her off the stage.

He really does seem to overpower her. I thought the same thing was going on in "Hold Me" until I really listened to it. He definitely does take over the demo version on the second disc of the Tusk re-issue.

I think that Tusk is a great album, so underrated! Right up there Rumours , it ranks for me! For me, Lindsey did what he set out to do!

Which is exactly why I like it.

I think it's one of Christine's best. I love it.

I'll agree with you about the demo version on disc #2 of the Tusk re-issue. But, I've never thought that he "overpowered" her on the album version of "Think About Me". I've never actually heard anyone say that until this thread. ;) I think their voices blend together just about right on the album version.

I can hear it, though. I think towards the end Lindsey definately seems to take the song over. It starts out as a Christine song, but by when they hit the "so let yourself go, let love begin" line, it becomes more of a duet, with Lindsey being a bit more present. Not that I think that's a BAD thing.

I agree. Except I'm not sure it's not bad.

I agree the demo version totally becomes Lindsey's! However it is still a great tune...but I like Christine's touch on it a little better! I can say that safetly here with many Christine fans! haha

WildInTheWind 09-28-2005 05:42 PM

Woa....it's kinda weird in here. I've never been in this forum before. I saw the Think About Me thread and had to chime in and say that I love this song. It's on of the few Christine songs I can listen to repeatedly. Great tune

I've always wondered why Lindsey was so prominent on Christine's songs. I posted a thread about this on the Rumours forum a while back. It just seemed odd to me how her songs - Think About Me, Hold Me, Don't Stop - were more like duets. Maybe it was because their voices blended so well together. In fact, when I first became a fan of FM, I never noticed that Christine sang the second verse of Don't Stop. That's how much their voices sounded the same (to my ears anyway).

Really? On the boot of the Hollywood Bowl 8/31/80, I thought it sounded great. Personally, of all the boots I've listened to, I thought it sounded awesome. But, then, TAM is one of my favorite songs, so maybe that's why.

Whew! Good to know that wasn't just me. When my best friend first introduced me to FM via the Green Album (I was a big Stevie solo fan at the time, and she was like "You have to hear FM; they're better than Stevie solo." So, she plays me "Gypsy," "Everywhere," "You Make Lovin' Fun," "Go Your Own Way," "Little Lies," and "Hold Me." I automatically loved "Gypsy" and "Everywhere," and I was all like "Who's singing "Everywhere"? Is that Christine or Lindsey?" She rolled her eyes. "It's Christine. Can't you tell it's a girl?" I said, "They both sound like guys to me." So, we went through all of those songs. "Hold Me" confused the hell out of me at first. "How do I know who's who?" My best friend was so frustrated! "I never thought Christine sounded like a guy," she insisted. She thought I was crazy.

Wow, I'm glad my essays and research papers aren't filled with so much "And I was like," "And she was like"

GypsySorcerer 09-30-2005 10:26 AM

Count me in as another who thinks that Lindsey and Christine's voices are eerily similar. But I usually love their collaborations - WT, Think About Me, Isn't it Midnight, etc. I especially love Tango in the Night because of the McBuck vibe. :D

SteveMacD 09-30-2005 06:57 PM

Count me in, too. To this day, I still find it impossible to tell who's who on "Farmer's Daughter."

AliP 10-02-2005 02:04 PM

So why do you think that their voices sound so similar? Is it that Christine has a masculine singing voice or is it that Lindsey has a feminine singing voice?? I'm going to go with the later.

SortaSavageLike 10-02-2005 05:06 PM

It took a while, but this song really grew on me.
I prefer it over YMLF. Then again, I like SYLM and Hold Me better than YMLF, too.

I think it's both. She's manly, and he's girly. I'll bet she could kick his ass...   Seriously, on all counts.

   Remember that drink throwing/slapping incident in New Zealand on the Tusk tour? ;) By the way, I think Chris & Lindsey had a great musical chemistry together, much more than Buckingham & Nicks did, in my opinion.

I agree on the chemistry, even if it sometimes sounded like he was hijacking her songs(his voice just being SO prominent). Think About Me, Hold Me, World Turning, Don't Stop. They sound like musical siblings. A perfect (unintentional pun!) mesh.
