Are you Stevie or Fleetwood mac'd out?(FOR NOW)

Well, so we have the today show thing coming up tomorrow, which I will be watching, but it got me thinking. I really hope they don't do anything next year in any kind of a major way. I mean, no overkill please. Of course I still listen everyday, but I need a year and a half or so break from Albums/concerts Thoughts?

WelshWitchPMD 09-27-2005 01:53 AM

Sorry, David but there is a Fleetwood Mac tour scheduled for the spring/summer. I am broke now anyway. I really hope that Lindsey does a solo tour but I guess we will have to see about that one.
I don't really want to see Stevie for a while but Lindsey I can't wait to see!
Sorry but I am so Stevied out!

amber 09-27-2005 01:54 AM

Um..no, I'm not, and...is the Today show on at 7 am or 6 am? I've gotten conflicting reports online. :D :wavey:
Spanks!!!

*I'm not very prone to overkill. I'm extremely loyal to music I like. I've only recently gotten Stevie's solo albums (besides SA) and I've still been listening to FM/Stevie for like, 11 years......* Yes, that's the same songs for 11 years! God, I'm a great person!!!

Oh I know what u mean about being broke. For sure. What have u heard about this tour? I suppose its not much. I'll go of course if they come to Minneapolis or St.Paul, but probably not much more than that

I have been hearing rumours about a LB tour for a while now but nothing in stone yet.
The Mac are touring and I think that is in stone just no dates yet. I really hope that they play my hometown of Providence, RI since they skipped it for the last 2 tours legs.

What do you mean, Slapped around?

That sucks, I would think it starts at seven here, but most stuff on TV says "8:00 Pacific, 7:00 central"

Whatevs, I'll get up before seven, but even Stevie can't get me up at 6:00. That's ungodly, and I know Stevie would agree.

Thank you! :wavey:

The Dunkin Donuts Center (yes that is the name if it  )
If it was good enough for The Eagles last March and Springsteen this Oct then it is good for The Mac, too.

er...I don't think you'll get many complaints. Tons of people who post here regularly don't listen to FM regularly. :)
But more importantly -
if you do -

I always figured it was because Providence is so close to Mansfield and they would rather play there for some reason (cheaper to rent out? who knows..)

burnt. Only hear/see 'em now when I am burning DVD's or recording TV appearrances nowadays (Havent played any FM related music at all as of late.)

Just needed a break, so I have taken it.

Johnny Stew 09-27-2005 03:32 AM

Christmas of this year will officially mark twenty years since I became a die-hard fan (after years of hearing Stevie's and FM's songs on the radio and loving them, getting 'Rock A Little' for Christmas in 1985 really sparked my fandom), and I still haven't burned out on them. Not even close.

Wow. I think you're probably one of very few people who wishes that Fleetwood Mac and its members would somehow be less prolific and productive.

The last time they put out an album was spring 2003. How could releasing an album or touring next year even remotely be seen as overkill? If anything, they're about due for something, whether it's a Mac album or solo projects from Lindsey and/or Stevie.

Especially after they made such a stink about bands like the Eagles touring incessantly with no new material to back it up.

I mean really, unless they were debuting a bunch of new material, what would even be the point of a Fleetwood Mac tour next year? It's not like they mix up their setlists at all (or even their arrangements). Besides the folks here who would pay to hear Stevie blow her nose into a microphone, who's going to pay for the same show they saw two years ago?

Although Springsteen's show, I'm sure, will be only a half-arena set-up.

14.500 seats. The Eagles sold out here last March but I doubt Fleetwood Mac will.

Kelly 09-27-2005 06:00 AM

Fleetwood Mac IS touring next spring and summer without a new album. I cannot see LB touring solo when he is touring with FM. I think he has pretty much said in interviews he would rather stick with FM and not do anything solo, as long as Stevie would agree to more Mac. He will make a bajillion dollars touring with Fleetwood Mac and lose money while saturating the market by touring alone. It is not too hard to figure out which option he will choose. (has chosen)

I do not remember him saying this - last I heard he had done a bunch of writing on the road and had been recording that  I do, however, readily admit he is more marketable as FM - sadly FM is not that marketable in terms of CD sales (new material)

As for being burned out. I think this will be the last go around for FM if it indeed happens, which has yet to be seen. I say this based on their ages and the fact that any new record and subsequent tour would not happen until LB and La Nicks were 60 and John and Mick older than that. But, who knows, they may do it. I do think, however, La Nicks could release another solo record before then if she is so inclined.

In the end, I do not blame them if they want to retire though it saddens me not to hear new music from them.

We have almost always been $*@(Ed by concerts in one way or the other. We were fine until The Worcester Centrum was built in 1982. Then Stevie and the Mac and everyone else would play there in New England and that was it.
Then in 1986 the Great Woods ampitheather was built and there went most of the shows in Eastern New England.
Fleetwood Mac (without LB) did play 3 dates at Great Woods in the early 1990s but they did come back to Providence on the fall leg.
I hope that they don't play the sheds this time. I am sick of losing out to Great Woods or the Tweeter center or whatever it's called now. I heard that The Mac wasn't very pleased with the way that things were run there on that last tour so I kind of hope that they skip it next tour.

Okay... maybe I am the one who blinked, but when did this tour thing go from rumor to fact?? It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever for them to be doing this. I think they have to at least give us time to miss them, or at least have some new music to promote. They can't get away with putting out yet another greatest hit set. Or yet another live album. I guess they are sort of mirroring their working lives against The Eagles, who have been touring incessantly after years of not working together, and without anything new to promote. I guess the next step will be following the Beach Boys model, where every member has their own incarnation of "Fleetwood Mac" or "Fleetwood Mac and Friends..." As much as I love to see them working, it is disheartening to see them open up this new chapter of their lives- the oldies circuit. But then again... James Taylor has been touring EVERY summer while still putting out new music every 4-5 years. Jimmy Buffett has been touring EVERY summer while putting out new music every 2-3 years. I dunno... looking on the bright side, perhaps this tour will sort of force Lindsey and Stevie to finally work collaboratively on new songs while they're on the road. And who knows... maybe they'll have the cajones to play them too! Hey, one can dream... :p

Miss Vicky 09-27-2005 09:17 AM

To answer the original question....

I got Stevie'd out years ago and have been Mac'd out for little while as well. Though I still have no explanation for the listening of Timespace the other day. I don't know what got into me. I suppose it was the same psychotic/masochistic streak that made me buy Britney Spears' Greatest Hits. :distress:
I'm not quite Lindsey'd out, though. At least I don't think I am. I don't think I can be, but I haven't really listened to him in several weeks. Quite disappointed with "Shut Us Down" or whatever the hell that Elizabethtown song was called. Disappointed with the soundtrack in general, including the new Petty song. Now THAT was a shocker.
What can I say? I'm fickle. I get bored if I'm not given something new and exciting on a fairly regular basis.

dissention 09-27-2005 09:24 AM

I never tire of Lindsey and Christine. Stevie's the only one I get a bit schizophrenic with. Her old stuff is ace and I listen to it frequently, but I'm sick of most post-1983 material because I don't find it to be very good.

No, Mick likes money. And Stevie did once say that touring was the only way for Mick and John to earn some dollars, since they get basically nothing from album sales (no writer or producer credits).

Oh and trashy so-called autobiographies.

Raeven Skye 09-27-2005 09:44 AM

I'm semi-Stevied-out...I'd really like something new to sing with, so I'm all over bootlegs and various live versions at the moment. While I enjoyed this summer's concert, I thought the marketing was bad: poor selection of t-shirts, no tour books, no buttons, etc. As has been mentioned elsewhere, I think that a lot of the time, Stevie caters to the least common denomenator regarding her set list, and forgets us diehards that would LOVE to hear damn-near anything other than "Landslide" again. I won't even listen to it on the radio anymore. I will always go see Stevie or the Mac if I can, but I'm laying off listening to the music right now.
