Griffin files for divorce after 4½ years of marriage
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Comedian Kathy Griffin has filed for divorce after 4 years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences, court documents show.

Griffin, 43, married Matt Moline in Los Angeles in February 2001. The couple have no children.

The divorce papers were filed Friday in Superior Court. Griffin asks that the couple's assets be divided and that Moline be denied spousal support.

Griffin has appeared on such TV shows as Seinfield and Suddenly Susan. Her latest stand-up special, Kathy Griffin Is ... Not Nicole Kidman, was filmed in Los Angeles.

I love that salty bitch. That's one celebrity break-up that I find kind of sad. I loved watching them together on her show.

That's sweet, if not a little weird (I'm teasing). I feel very bad for them - the seemed so great together.

I didn't know she was married, so I have no pain. I mean, I'm sad for her, blah, but I don't even know who her husband is. Plus, that's one more free one....

With a lot of willpower, obviously.

Oh, were you my Tuesday evening peeper? I had sort of a rotating schedule going....

diamondsnake 09-27-2005 12:20 AM

That's kind of odd considering how they were shown as being best friends and truely in love on Kathy's reality show which just finished airing a couple weeks ago. I feel kind of cheated after seeing her reality show now. Clearly they must have edited it to make them look like the perfect couple when in fact they were headed to Divorce-town. Very strange...

WelshWitchPMD 09-27-2005 01:45 AM

Funny she was on Days of Our Lives today as a limo driver giving relationship advice to Austin.

skcin 09-27-2005 08:06 AM

Aw, I love that woman. That's too bad.

yeah, I know...unless the show was taped before they started to separate, although it couldn't have been that long ago, could it?

I love Kathy and this is kind of a shock. They seemed to have a mutual understanding...he's calm and doesn't care while she's neurotic and they both love their place in the relationship. Keep ya chin up Kath!

ELIUD 09-27-2005 10:28 AM

Oh jeez, this sucks. I loved "Life on the D-List" and will really be shocked if they go through with the divorce. You can't fake the kind of chemistry they had between them - please no Landslide comparisons here. Kathy Griffin said several times on that show that she needed Matt with her everywhere she went and from what we could see, they were rarely apart.

As far as when the show was filmed...it ended with her Oscar coverage and that usually takes place in March. I don't think they were putting up a false front.

And I happen to think Matt is a big cutey.

Livia 09-27-2005 10:30 AM

Aaww, that's sad. Well, she did kind of treat him like another personal assistant, imo. And I'm not saying that to slam her, I LOVE her! She is my kindred spirit - we both love Pillsbury cinnamon rolls and gay men, we both hate Oprah, and we don't want children.

ELIUD 09-27-2005 10:37 AM

I'd agree with you and somehow I think that still worked for him. Some men prefer a dominant woman. I wonder if the weightloss effected the relationship.

rbs3676 09-27-2005 10:46 AM

Very sad. I thought they made a great couple.

I Love, Love, LOVE Kathy Griffin!!

Thanks for posting that schedule. I wish she was coming to Dallas but I remember her saying she doesn't like Texas (Like Thelma and Louise pointed out - bad things happen in Texas). Love her.

skcin 09-27-2005 02:00 PM

OOOOOOH! She's coming to Syracuse?!?! I may just have to make the short trek over for that.

I see she is coming to Pitt at the end of October, too. Of course, it is a weekend, and I will be working. I'm saving my $ for the supposed FM '06 Tour....also called Not That Funny (that we are saturating the markets) Tour '06. :D

skcin 09-27-2005 02:52 PM

Nothing is on Syracuse's website, so who knows. I emailed them. I really want to go.

Beachwood Mac 09-27-2005 03:12 PM

This could be fun... I'm not a fan of 4th and B in San Diego for music but it should be good for Kathy. I was just watching some of her D List show the other night about Hollywood Squares with Little Richard - Funny stuff

Livia 09-27-2005 03:32 PM

No Texas dates? Dammit, I want to hang with her at Shipley's Donuts. :p

Seeing her in San Fran on New Year's Eve would be fun!

Edit: Duh! I just noticed the Houston date right before San Fran.

wow - she is gorgeous in that picture. if she'd leave her hair alone and let her bangs grow out and get the color back to a red instead of a dirty burgundy, I'd love her even more

by the way, you should all read her account with Lasik surgery - it's horrific and I had no idea - really made me think a little longer before getting it myself - it's on her website

Either that's an old picture or it is totally airbrushed. She is really starting to show her age lately, unfortunately. I think in the last five years she looks like she has gained 20 years.

my vote is on the airbrushing. she's had a LOT of work done, but it seems to have the opposite effect on her.

Stephanie 09-27-2005 07:08 PM

I just wanted to say that I love Kathy Griffin. She is so funny.

They probably put her head on some other woman's body a la Julia Roberts on the Pretty Woman posters and videos.

There's that one poster for that Paltrow movie...um...about an airplane...with Candice Bergan and Christina Applegate. Bergan's head is on Applegate's body and vice-versa. It's funny to see.
