AWE-SOME~

i am soooo gonna be there... anyone know yet if it will be an outdoor performance?

golddustwoman77 09-23-2005 08:25 PM

I'm so glad that Stevie is doing a Today show performance, but I wish she would play something fresh and different. Don't get me wrong I love "Stand Back" and "Landslide," but isn't it what we always hear?! I want to hear something else, Stevie. :p

CreepingDeath 09-23-2005 08:26 PM

Stand Back and Landslide?

Well, let me put on my big surprise face.

seriously.. what ELSE is she gonna sing?? "Long Way To Go" and "Love Is"??

she's gonna do her hits... "Stand Back" is her biggest uptempo hit and "Landslide" is her biggest ballad hit... makes sense to me

Curtis, darling dear, she's performing her hits.. to her NON fans... you know, the peope she ALWAYS performs for...

the only way we will ever maybe get a "Long Way to Go"/ "Love Is" kinda Stevie, is if she decides to ever do a club tour... on second thought

Well ****. There's no since in being a die hard fan then if she only caters to not-so-big-fans.

I was thinking today that it is kinda sad that the only new things we get (minus cover songs) are ad-libs to hits.....and we go wild over them. Thank you Stevie for putting yourself out there for us! haha

Well, tickets go on sale soon at nevergoingtohappen.com.

ShangriLaTroubl 09-23-2005 08:48 PM

Well personally I love the adlibs to hits..lol.. I dont expect to go on the TODAY SHOW and play some obscure song that will make most of their audience turn the station simply because they dont know the song...now tours are a totally diff story

Chris

You got it. Diehards shouldn't look to Fleetwood Nicks for "meals." They need to get in the habit of tracking down their own good stuff -- they need to take care of their own catering.

Would you rather have that she not perform? Hm?

I am not at all surprised she is doing these songs. A ****load of people will be watching and they all want her greatest hits. That's the downside of performing on public television. I am just glad she is showing her face around again.

AliceLover 09-23-2005 09:08 PM

Alright!!! At least shes doing Stand Back!!! I think that is great. I thought it would just be Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You or Landslide. AWESOME!!

Macfanforever 09-23-2005 09:29 PM

Thanks for the tip. happy birthday to Brett. I really dont care what songs Stevie
will be performing on the show. it's nice to see here back in the grind again, after the lost of her dad, And spend the time to help others in need. does anybody know what time she's skeduled to appear on the show? Commom Stevie lets build some houses for these people.

Well stated. Plus if they are trying to raise money for the cause, last thing you
need is people changing the channel because they don't know the song or something. I know the "insert twirl here and insert high kick there" is not exactly new, but then again we usually go wild once she starts twirling or nails the
high kick don't we? I love the fact that she is going to be on television singing.
I know my DVR will be already set to record. :)

Why not? It's totally feasible. Any other artist would do it. Think about it, if Madonna were going on the Today show, do you think she'd sing Papa Don't Preach and Holiday? Hell no, she'd sing something new and something recent - just like almost any other singer/songwriter. If Stevie did sing Long Way To Go and Love Is, maybe, just maybe, some casual fan will hear them and think 'Gee, I've never heard these. Maybe I'll check out one of her albums and see what else this lady sings besides {insert any Stevie top 40 hit here}

But then....Stevie wouldn't be able to complain that 'nobody buys them anyway'....and then maybe she'd have to record another album....which is just so much work aparently.

Don't get me wrong. I love Stevie, and in my eyes, she can do no wrong, but that doesn't mean that she can hold my interest indefinitely....though I guess 20 years and running is a pretty long time....

Whoa. This is, like, shocking. I'm trembling at the thought of her performing such rare treats. This so makes up for all those Christmas' where all I got were socks and turtlenecks. Rock on, Stevie Queen. Props to you and your peeps, this **** is dope.

When she comes out on stage with a leash, and two dinosaurs attached to it, I find it disappointing and lazy. She sticks with ONLY her comfort zone. It's boring. I can't think of too many other female artists her age or otherwise who have a repetoire that's so limited when they do gigs like this. "Stand Back" I enjoy. She'll do her little high kick/full body dry heave set to music/ thing and the crowd'll go hog wild. But "Landslide" needs the knacker's yard once and for all.

SillyDreamer 09-23-2005 11:00 PM

I never understood the assertion that Stand Back is her biggest uptempo hit. I'll concede that it may have charted higher or whatever, but it seems to me that in this day and age, and in the context of which of her songs have had staying power, Edge of Seventeen totally eclipses Stand Back.

I mean, just walk up to someone and sing "Just like the white wing dove, singsasongsoundslikeshessingin..." and a good 7 out of 10 folks will pick up the "ooh, ooh... oooh!" I don't think any part of Stand Back is nearly that accessible to the public, especially 21 years after it charted.

I dunno, call me crazy.. just seems to me that Edge of Seventeen has kind of ingrained itself in pop culture much more than Stand Back.

I totally agree. Edge of 17 has got to be her most recognizable solo song. And I thank School of Rock for introducing that song to my generation. Now, at least my friends from school know one of her songs!

Edge of 17, Landslide, and Dreams are what I hear most often on the radio. Oh, and I constantly hear Say You Will!

I am a musician friend of Brett's. I have known him for over a decade since his days of playing for David Lee Roth. Brett is such a great guy; so kind and generous. He always hooks me up with excellent comp tickets and backstage passes when he is out on tour. I have had so much fun seeing the Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks shows and hanging out with the band and crew. It has been the experience of a lifetime. I can't wait for the next tour!

Stevie Nicks is no Madonna... Madonna is an Icon and can turn horsecrap into liquid gold.. Always could, always will.. Stevie cannot and she knows this...

could she take a few more chances? of course... will she? nope..

If she had in the past, perhaps more people who think "she" is a "he", would know that Stevie Nicks without a doubt is a "she"
