1/4 Of Men Don't Wash Their Hands After Using The Bathroom
Just heard this on Channel 2 news. A national handwashing survey was conducted. :p So! Do you wash your filthy little mitts after using the Powder Room? |
Yeah, I knew that. Whatev. Soo...does that mean in their house, or out in public?
For Me: Leaving, or out of, the house - yes (duh!) Until I'm leaving the house - not so much (unless someone is in my house, then of course!) Non Pee - always. also, I would like to add, that I don't think it's as gross if the men just pee, then don't wash, as it is for girls. Other than pee, everyone should wash. :) |
It's just a good habit to have.
Actual effect is probably more placebo-ish than anything, but because I'm trained to do it, I never leave the bathroom without having washed my hands, and those who don't really gross me out. :sorry: (..Especially when they go straight on to preparing my dinner  ) |

But, I shouldn't really be in this convo, I'm the least grossed out, clean ledgie, ever. *seriously, make a poll, and ask people "who seems like the least grossed out ledgie?" Betcha I would win.* Though, I hate snot and spit, really bad....in an every day context... I'm not dirty, I just think there are some especially OCD kids on here....  (Hi, Diss! :wavey: :xoxo: ) I can't watch people drink milk, either...and has anyone else ever seen "milk strings"? In someone's mouth? So.Gross. Sex things rarely, if ever, bother me, though. I'm more worried if you came from Vietnam and recently ate a chicken infected with...SRI - 5, or whatev. (Just watched scary program on PBS last night - it's like - super Influenza  Like, you're dead in five days, your whole lungs are taken over) |
OK, I'll be honest here: out in public or at work ABSOLUTELY. EVERY TIME.
at home: no way, its just me after all.....well, me and a 5yr old boy.... but the only thing Im picky about is that he raises the seat and lowers it. nothing nastier than sitting on someone elses pee... but I do it at anyone elses house and I do it out in public everywhere. AND: I wash my hands before touching food which I think is the biggie. plus I keep my kitchen clean, I clean with bleach regularly....all thru the house having said that, I know of one gal at work who DOESNT wash and I find I am disgusted..... |

How about a poll on how many men dribble on the floor?! URP!!
We were standing in the unisex Only-bathroom-open-at-the-time Pee-line before the Santana concert, when it came to be my turn (after 3 men in a row) I walked in to find not only the toliet seat up, but I was about to go wading in a pool of pee. So I grabbed a mound of toliet seat covers, threw them on the floor on top of the pool of pee, then grabbed an extra two or three so I could push the toliet seat down. It went crashing down on the pot with a loud KER-BANG! My friends told me afterwards they heard it "Loud and Clear" and knew they were in for trouble going in. It was NAST-EYE!! The smell was enough to gag 5,000 maggots. Anyone in the middle of dinner? hehe  Laura |
That is such a low estimate. Double it.
In public restrooms with volume - a concert hall, amusement park, etc. only about 25% WASH their hands. Take it from Sparky. I have seen it. |
There's a reason why I rarely shake hands (and rush to a bottle of Purell when I do). ;)
I pity the fools who eat the pretzels and nuts at bars, too. If they only knew what they were ingesting. Poor schlubs. The real nasty little porkers are the ones who use public restrooms and don't wash their hands. I've been at movie theaters and, when I'm forced to use the john, there's always some random cootie-carrying schmuck who shakes his dick around like it's goddamned sparkler on the 4th of July and then waltzes out while rubbing his hands on his Levis that are two sizes too small for his overweight ass. Makes me think twice about buying popcorn, I could very well be eating some employees dried piss spores. |

Shudder at the thought...
I wash my hands as soon as I get home, everyday - and every single solitary time I use the washroom (with soap - and if there isn't soap in a public washroom - God forbid!! I'm totally grossed out). I'm totally with takenbythesky - middle of the night, on my way into the shower, every single time. Oh. But I'm a girl. Was this meant only for the boys? |

No...but I understand that people will have it. I hate when people make me laugh, then I snot. Just for reference - all you manic germophobes....I *NEVER* get sick. And if I do, It's only cause I smoke. :D Though, not everyone will have an immune system like mine. And you can all laugh when I get Cancer. You can be like "oh, she never got a cold or the flu, but that Cancer is a biatch!!! :xoxo: " It's okay, I'll laugh with you. :D |
I ALWAYS wash my hands after using the little room.
Washing my hands is almost an obsession for me.. for example, if I just petted my cats and then want to eat something, I have to wash my hands first. Don't want cat-germs on my food. (All the same I got used to finding cat hairs in my food though and have little problem with that!) Public restrooms though, I try not to touch anything, including the taps. Just think, the hands which touched those taps, where have they been before? Eww. But having to wash my hands wins from that thought, most of the time. Yes, OCD. Guilty. |
I am with you Josh. I was my hands constantly and carry my Purell everywhere!

When was the last time you were in a public restroom Mr. Hughes :wavey: |
i'm a washer adamantly now, i was a washer b4, but not always 100% at home~ until a co-wrker yrs ago got a sickness called shigella i think, it is where she touched feces somewhere & ate or something or touched her mouth afterwards, becuz it got in her mouth, "it" was infected w/ this shigella & she became deathly ill, she was hospitalized for 2 weeks~ that freaked me out, i make it a habit to always, always wash after, & i teach my son the same~
|
I'm a nurse. Washing hands is my religion.

Grody. I won't touch them either. Even if it won't make me sick or kill me, that doesn't mean I want someone's pee (or other) germs on my food. Bad enough I can't see what the cooks might be doing to it in the kitchen. |

The only time I ever have been was when I was on the Amazon River and had to meet the Chriefs of the primitive villages we serviced. They wanted to shake hands and to refuse would have been extremely rude. Let's just say they do not have American bathrooms  So, Purell was always in my right side pocket and my left hand rarely left my other pocket  |

I wash every time, and I'm one of those who wash for a minute or so. I see people who stick their hands in running water for like, 5 seconds, and they think they're clean... that makes me sick too. Use some soap for God sakes...... |

I always wash my hands. Always. But as someone above said, if there is no soap I get grossed out. Only THEN will I not wash because touching that tap is worse and without soap that stuff will not come off! Eww eww eww. |

Ugh!! Me, too!!! I just don't get it. Why would anyone want to go around with their own bodily fluids (ew - I've always hated that expression) on their hands?? And what's more - we actually have signs about how to properly wash hands posted in the washrooms at my workplace. Clearly, these people don't read the literature provided. :distress: The grossest thing: I work with women (and guys, I'm betting) who don't wash their hands after the washroom (I've seen them leave). And we all share keyboards, phones, etc. Brutal. |

If we were all anal retentive... we wouldn't need to use the public washrooms.  |

I'm a hand-washer -- I wouldn't exactly say "compulsive," but I wash my hands after I wash the dishes! I wash my hands after using someone else's phone! I wash my hands after shopping for CDs or DVDs at Best Buy! You get the picture. I also carry around a little vial of antibacterial goo. When I sit down to eat at any restaurant, I have either just washed my hands in the restroom there or used some antibacterial goo. Cold germs are everywhere: door handles & knobs, chairs, rental DVD cases, people's phones, etc. |
I guess I'm a little anal-retentive too when it comes to hand washing.
After using the bathroom (anytime, anywhere) goes without saying. But I also do it all day long just because. I can be watching a movie at home and I'll pause it just to go wash my hands, when I haven't even left the couch in the past hour. I just can't stand them to feel at all sweaty/sticky/dirty. Ever. :) |

A) touch the door to go into the stall, then, B) touch the handle to flush, then: C) touch the door to get out, then: D) touch the faucet to turn it on, then finally their hands get washed. So, already, everyone has touched 3 surfaces that everyone else has touched before they washed their hands. (for girls). Shouldn't everyone really be washing their hands before they touch the door to go in, and then using a protective glove when they flush and then open the door and then turn on the faucet? Honestly, it's amazing the human race as survived this long, what with all these killer germs floating around... *don't eat poultry in vietnam*. |

Well, I try my best NOT to use the rest room. But if I do have to go in one I will NOT use my hands. I use my foot or elbow. :) My foot to push open the door, the stall, and flush the toliet. My elbow to push the lever for the paper towel. No matter what I will use PURELL after leaving the bathroom. A woman's bathroom is disgusting. I don't even want to get into the woman that use the sanitary boxes on the side of the stall. YUCK. No thanks. |
