which Lindsey do you prefer?
I'm sure wev'e discussed this in another roundabout way, a while ago..but it occured to me, that this "shut us down" song, bought out an interesting point when we all wondered if it was a CVB cover. Some of us ( me included) thought ...Yahoo!!!....what a great rocking cover for him to do, and were a bit disappointed (me included) when we found out it wasn't the same one.
So...do we like the "rocking, crazy" Lindsey or the "quiet, melodic" Lindsey? I confess, I love the nutty, weird version the best ( GYOW,Teen beat, Wear you down...etc). Thats not say I don't like the quieter version either (which I think can be fab...sometimes) but he's def better as a rocker in my books  Anyone else? |

So that would be the crazy one then........ |
I like Tusk-era Lindsey, and Dance-era Lindsey.
|
Tusk-era Lindsey is my favorite. Loved the look....loved the sound.
|
As for Stevie, all the Lindsey's eras have some aspects that intrigue me, so I can't choose. About the musical style it's the same, but he needs a speech writer.
Romy |
I like both the rocky and the acoustic stuff.. but the acoustic stuff a little bit more, maybe. Especially what he did the last few years, songs like Street of Dreams, Say Goodbye and Shut Us Down. (Oi. 'Few'?? I could say the last 15 years!)
Oh and for looks, Tusk Lindsey, with OOTC Lindsey a close second :D |
ermmm....I was really talking about musical styles as opposed to eras. You know, the crazy, fast paced guitar stuff with upbeat melodies, that make you wanna dance round the room...or....the soft, whispery, gentle guitar strumming, that makes you just go "ahhh...."
Era wise for me would probably be Tusk too (coz he was a bit trippy and looked different from all those bearded hairy assed blokes, wev'e come to associate with the late 70's) ;) |

It was a long time ago..and memories get blurry with age....haha Which Linds did you say you prefered Nancy????? |
The reason Lindsey Buckingham is my favourite musician is because of his ability to be rock star one minute and poet the next. I couldnt take either extreme and say its all i want to hear.
Take for example 1) NGBA 2)She smiled Sweetly 3)Street of dreams then take 1) Come (Live in Boston) 2)Go Insane (The Dance) 3)Eyes of the world (Live in Boston) Both examples are lindsey at his best so i feel a bit torn between the two to say the least. However pre 1986 Lindsey or post 1986 Lindsey I'd Go for the latter. |

I will say the next lindsey, that is due to come out and start doing something any minute now, may be the hottest yet. I am just hoping and anticipating.
I am so ready for more lindsey! Solo, FM, whatever. |

Press conference for Lindsey's next album: LB Steps up to podium. Reporter: Mr. Buckingham, what would you say influenced the.... LB raises hand to reporter. "I have a prepared speech if you don't mind." pulls out paper and carefully unfolds. "Guitary good. Me play plays lots. Da puppy gives me kisses. I have cookie?....No! My cookie!!" refolds paper and waves. "Fench fies nummy." he nods. "Fench fies nummy" steps off podium to exit, turns to give a thumbs up "Fench fies nummy!" On the subject, my favorite is Tusk era Lindsey. From all of the eras there is music that I like equally, but the look is Tusk all the way. :) |
Well my favorite song of his is You and I part 1, so I guess I like the softer side a bit more.
|
Love the softer side
Dance era and on...
I like the toning down of the anger. The acceptance of heartache, mistakes made (his and others), and the feeling of moving on. I still think he takes plenty of chances with his weirder works. I still think the man can rock the house and get you all hot and bothered with his guitar solos (still fanning myself over standing in front of him when he did Come a few times last year...ah, that doesn't sound right, does it? I mean, he performed the song and I was in the front row a couple of times...pretty much right near his mic)...but the softer side...the vulnerable stuff just makes you want to curl up in a corner somewhere and live in an alternate universe or something. Or is that just me? |
"Out of the Cradle" sex god hottie.
Tusk era was pretty delicious, too. |

As far as music goes, the angry vindictive-lyric writer always does it for me. IE Come, Wear You Down. Definitely Come. :blob2: And basically anything he did on Tango in the Night. Although a lot must be said for the insane amounts of music he gets out of one guitar, IE Go Insane, Big Love [acoustic versions] and Here Comes the Sun. And looks ... I've thought about this. Too much. 1 -- Slow Dancing. There will never be another. 2 -- Tango in the Night. That includes everything, Little Lies, Big Love, Seven Wonders and so on. 3 -- OOTC and the Dance era. *drool...* As for the Rumours era afro...? *shudder* |
Maybe it's because I am fairly new to the whole Lindsey-lovin' community, so I haven't been able to focus as in-depth on each different style/era/hairstyle, etc. as some of you...but from all I have heard and seen (which is quite a lot at this point) I love just about every friggen side of the man...except for Family Man...
And I think he is perennially hot. Even now. And I'm not even into older guys like that. ;) |

Focussing on his looks may be fun for some of us...but it gets so boring...... |
I like the Buckingham Nicks, FM-FM, Rumours, Tango, OOTC, Dance, best, which translates to the more aucoustic, mainstream pop-rock aspect of Lindsey I guess.

Lindsey is good on:
Fleetwood Mac Rumors Mirage Law and Order Out Of The Cradle The Dance Parts of Say You Will. Bad Linsdey: Tango In The Night Go Insane (Except for the actually track Go Insane) I liked the rocker Lindsey. Although, I liked when he simplified all of that Big Love, Go Insane, and Trouble. I also hated Eyes of The World on Mirage, but LOVED to the point of being my super uber mega favorite song, The Live in Boston Version. Usually any artist who can un 80'sify songs is good in my book. |
it depends on what i feel like that day
today i think i like experimentally quiet lindsey. but it's raining outside and i'm feeling kinda crummy, so that's probably why. tomorrow i may be in a wacky lindsey mood. i love it all. even oh diane, which i have hated since the dawn of my mac loving time. it got me. lindsey wins. i lose. |
