"We're having a free Sheryl Crow concert down in Zilker Park, we're going to leave up one of the stages from ACLFest - it's going to be rocking!" Lance said. "No corporate sponsors, I just want to thank the city and the people of Texas, Sheryl and I are footing the bill together." Zilker Park isn't generally used for concerts - it's mostly soccer fields, baseball fields, has a choo-choo train, picnic tables, swings and kiddie stuff like that, and Barton Springs Pool. I'm assuming the rules for Sheryl will apply as they would for any outdoor concert in a park - which is, no outside alcohol allowed. But they'll be selling it there! :thumbsup:

I usually find out about these kinds of things too late, though. Does anybody know how you get tickets to this? I can't imagine you just show up to it...

If it happens....I'm THERE! I love Sheryl...my husband cannot stand her, though, so I would have no one to go with. He won't even listen to her music. I'll be in Houston on the 1st...could just go on to Austin...get a room. That would be fun! Who thinks they will go?

Yeah, I think we do just show up. When they did the Lance party last year, where Steve Miller played on Congress Ave., that's how it was. Free to the public, just show up.

This is definitely happening, I heard a commercial for it on KGSR today. :thumbsup:

Austin will celebrate Lance Armstrong's seventh Tour de France victory on Oct. 2 in Zilker Park with a free concert by Armstrong's fiancee, Sheryl Crow, according to the singer's Web site.

"Sheryl and her band perform a free concert in part to thank the City of Austin for the incredible support that her future husband has received over the years. He has been proud to call Austin his home, and Sheryl is proud to be part of the celebration," the Web site says.

Additional information was not immediately available from the city.

Oct. 2 marks the 11th anniversary of Armstrong's cancer diagnosis.

They've moved it to Auditorium Shores, where most outdoor concerts are held, except for the ACL Fest in Zilker. There's also some cross-country bike ride, from LA to DC, which is being re-routed through Austin to coincide w/ this event. :thumbsup:
