Renee Zellweger & Kenny Chesney Split

Renee Zellweger & Kenny Chesney Split

September 15, 2005
ET has confirmed that RENEE ZELLWEGER and country crooner KENNY CHESNEY have filed to anull their marriage of just over 4 months.

The two tied the knot in a surprise ceremony back in May on the beautiful island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where the singer has a home. In a short, 15-minute ceremony performed by a female preacher in front of a small group of family and friends, the bride wore CAROLINA HERRERA, one of her favorite designers, while the groom was reportedly barefoot.

The two met at the Concert of Hope tsunami relief effort last January 15 and maintained a quiet friendship that quickly blossomed. Fans first learned of their romance when Renee reportedly brought a margarita up on stage to Kenny during his show in Jacksonville, FL.

This was the first marriage for both stars, although the 37-year-old Kenny reportedly broke off an engagement to another woman in 1999, three weeks before the wedding. Prior to marrying Kenny, Renee dated WHITE STRIPES singer JACK WHITE and her 'Me, Myself & Irene' co-star JIM CARREY.

Watch ET tonight for the latest on their split.

What suprises me is the longevity of the Tim McGraw /Faith Hill marriage. It's already lasted a good deal longer than the marriage of the far ,far more talented George Jones and Tammy Wynette.

Well, I don't think talent should play in factor in how long a marriage lasts. They seem to be pretty much in love!

I guess you have a point there .If talent was the indicator for marriage longevity then Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson's marriage would have ended one nanosecond after the preacher said 'And now you may kiss the bride".

Please. If talent was the indicator, they wouldn't have gotten past the "speak now or forever hold your peace" line!

Friggin' hets... ruining the sanctity of marriage.

wondergirl9847 09-15-2005 10:09 PM

DavidMn 09-15-2005 10:11 PM

tuigirl 09-16-2005 12:31 AM

Fffffli'ipin heck....don't people give things a go these days, I would have thought for 1st timers they might have tried harder to make it work.....actually, it's better than Rudolph Valentino+his Mrs, apparantly they lasted just 6 hours!(saw a programme on tv last night about hollywood marriages as it happens)

I knew they wouldn't last... it was just a matter of when. Guess it's back to betting on when J. Lo and Marc Anthony split up!

You have to remember though, George had a serious drinking problem at that time. They may well have lasted the course if he hadn't been drunk all the time. I love George but poor Tammy.

Sexual orientation
Claimed he wanted children and really doesn't?

Well, Tim McGraw's reaction, which was filmed when he heard the news, was that he always thought Kenny was gay.

But then again, Renee may have checked the fraud box by mistake - unable to see what she was doing through her squinty little eyes.

most believe Kenny Cheese-wad (Not a fan of his music) is actually gay and in denile, Cause he has built a career on girls oogling over him....And he knows if the truth was that he is gay and that he was 'outed' that he would not only lose those females who make up a great majority of his fanbase but that being gay in country music would be the deathkneel that ends his career.

It must have been a quite difficult period. He was at the start of his deep depression, I think.

sadly they do...

All I ever hear about his concert's in OKC over the years is "how great he looks", Never heard if he put on a good show or not (Having Keith Urban as an opening act will ensure a great attendance amount saleswise, Too bad KU probably smokes Cheese-Wad off the planet in the talent & entertainer catergory...And if ya ask my "Mrs.", she would say that is true in the looks dept.)

If it's true to marry a movie star hoping she would keep the secret doesn't really sounds a smart move. Oh... now I remember it worked for someone else. :D ;)

He is sooooo marketed as a sex symbol. I will never get it - but to each their own.

Seriously! I'm sure she'll cry her eyes out until she lands her next movie role and needs to crack off a few pounds. Meanwhile, he'll get over it with a few new pairs of boots and a visit to gay.com

My sentiments exactly. We very rarely ever think alike, Brian- but, that was the first thing that popped into my mind this morning when I heard it while ironing my clothes getting ready for work.

Thank god for the sanctity and holiness of the union between man and woman!

October 11th is National Coming Out Day. Maybe Kenny will fling open those closet doors in a few weeks.
