Dreams/Gold Dust Tour (2005)

Vocally, it cannot compare IMO to the others. But, to each their own.

Dreams/Gold Dust Tour

A great comeback from the horrid TISL tour, but it still doesn't compare to the tours that are left.

Great sounding tour but I like the others better.

I just can't bring myself to vote for Dream/Gold Dust since it was the first time I ever saw my girl solo.

I gonna go with popular opinion and say Gold Dust Tour, even though it was the first time I got to touch Stevie's hand... :(

There was no Klonopin on that tour. Your timeline is off.

What a stupid & obvious name for a Stevie Nicks tour. The brother must have named it. Who the hell would put a slash in a tour name? He would, that's who!

Next year, he'll probably give us the Rhiannon/Edge of 17 tour, wildly creative, brilliant guy that he is.

I thought it was just called the Gold Dust Tour. That's what I saw on all advertisements.

My vote is for Rock A Little. GD Tour had a medicore setlist, but she looked and sounded great and didn't stop the show to scold people for doing something that was all in her head.

Lot more energy on this tour, but I hate when she flubbed lyrics, forgot her que...plus Waddys guitar solo on SDMHA. I didn't like the set that much either, with the exception of I Can't Wait and I need to Know.

GDT was my first time seeing her too, so that just cannot go yet.

Not her best time to shine. At least on GDT/Dreams she's clean. That has to count for something, right?

Yes I voted for SA because for me it's not about vocal quality. In the early-mid 80's Stevie was a rock Godess and and epitomized everything that rock and roll means to me. She was crazy, outragous, and down-right unpredictable at times (especially during RAL) but that all makes her human to me and I can relate to a lot of it. By the 90's she was older and more refined and naturally so but in general I will favor her live shows from the 80's (sans OSOTM) over 90's - present. You won't see her dancing around the stage today the same way she did back then because she's not as young and that's not a bad thing, that's just what I prefer.

I don't know. "Clean" may be a moral virtue, or at least an intellectual virtue, but it's not necessarily an aesthetic virtue.

Art has a way of standing apart from the flaws of its creator. Art is bigger than the artist -- even in extreme cases of titanic personalities such as Beethoven or Shakespeare. Some of Stevie's favorite writers -- Poe, Wilde, Cocteau -- used drugs.

It's difficult to believe that many of the world's greatest rock & roll songs would have been written had their composers not been stoned. A fascinatingly drugged perspective seems to positively seep out of the pores of dozens of great songs by the Beatles, the Stones, Jim Morrison, Hendrix, the Velvet Underground, Fleetwood Mac, etc. But there's a narrowminded morality imposed on Stevie by her own fans, which I've always disavowed. It seems very parochial to me to dismiss whole chunks of Stevie's touring & songwriting career a priori -- just because she was taking drugs.

If you love rock, but you want all your rock stars to be "clean," chances are you're in the wrong conference room.

How can you not have liked the set -- when no fewer than EIGHT SONGS in it were also played on your beloved Mirror tour?

Outside the Rain
Dreams
No Spoken Word
Stand Back
Beauty & the Beast
Has Anyone Ever
How Still My Love
Edge of Seventeen

I should have worded that differently. Stevie made some of her best music during the coke days, but I was referring to the end of the road. The rock bottom period. The "stop doing this or it will kill you" time.

I should have said that differently. I felt some songs dragged on in the RAL set. Theres a signifcant difference for me. More synth was added lots of keyboards that I love. OTR was made faster, dreams newer ending added, NSW has a more rocking feel to it, Stand Back ehh same.

Then again david i do LOVE the mirror songs that were played on the tour.

ITA. While I would never be for it, naturally, I don't mind the drugs as much as I've seen some people do here. It's just something that comes with the rock & roll territory. Especially back in those days.

The songs were considerably slower on the Mirror tour to these ears. The Rock A Little tour, to me, was Stevie at her drugged-out, craziest, most rocking period of her career. Her vocals were ragged and so screechy that they cut like a knife, but so what? It was the entire package. She was a burst of energy and in terms of live performances, she'll never be able to match her stuff from '83-'86.

My vote goes to the Dreams/Gold Dust Tour.

LiquidBlue5000 09-15-2005 08:44 PM

Here are the final results for Round 6:

Dreams/Gold Dust Tour: 10 votes
Rock A Little Tour: 6 vote
Street Angel Tour: 4 vote

"Dreams/Gold Dust Tour", take your silver spoon and dig your grave...you have been voted off.. bu bye! :wavey:

.. on to Round 7
