Names
Over the years, I've seen some interesting names ( coworkers, friends, etc.) I'm not starting this thread to make fun of anybody, I just think some names are very unique, for better or worse. Here goes:
First name Yu, last name Ho. I was reading the obits last week (I don't know why I do this) and a woman was survived by several kids including her son Nimrod. First names Nugget, Jafrica, Precious, Charm. Last names Kuntz, Phuc, Gay (my cousin) I knew a family in high school who named all their daughters Mary with different middle names (Mary Kate, Mary Ann, Mary Beth, Mary Carol, etc.) There were 7 or 8 of them. We recently had someone come into the office. Their first name is: . No lie; try filing that one. Really original names that I think are beautiful: Lux (really) Devin Aubrey (my Goddaughter) Lindon Anyone else heard any unique names that you loved or gave you a chuckle? |
My father has an uncle or second uncle (I've never met him) named Thomas Thomas. And I always get a kick out of the name of one of the news stations weather reporters : Amy Freeze. My extended family all lives in Ohio, included a cousin, named Trenton. My immediate family and I live throughout NJ, so my grandfather in OH jokes by called Trenton , "N. J."

LOL ....Yu Ho   Sucks to be her...
This isn't a particularly funny name...but a top Kodak Exec is named Charles Brown...But he insists on going by Charlie... I could NOT read that without laughing ...and he was in mylead story in my newscasts.. Kodak CEO Charlie Brown or whatever...omg....I'm an idiot... |
I have an uncle Clovis....I haven't met anyone else with that name.
I knew a Dick Head.....went to high school with his son. In college, I met a girl named Reaganomic. She went by Reagan, though. |
I'm sure I've mentioned this before, I once knew someone named Sandy Beech. In high school, my health/gym teacher's name was Mrs. Clapp. I felt so bad for her because everyone called her The Clap.

A pictoral of the best name ever...
![]() Man, I want that name... |

I "know" sisters named Delicious and Precious...the kicker is their last name is Bush. Both are constantly in trouble with the law...I guess I would be too.

I worked with a girl a few summers ago whose name is Unique.
The funny thing was that we had a temp working with us who forgot her name, and came up to me to ask what it was: Temp: "I'm so embarrassed, what was her name again? I remember it was a really unique name..." Me: " (Laugh) Yeah - it actually *is* Unique." Temp: " (A little pissed) Ha-ha - don't bust my balls - what's her name?" It was a total unintentional Who's On First moment... |
I work with a girl named Latin. I think it's kinda pretty.

Hey guys, meet my friend Delicious Bush! Good. Lord. A few teenage moms I used to work with had close calls naming their kids. More than one almost named theirs Chlamydia & Placenta. We urged them not to, of course. |

Here are my corkers : The drug store Kids - Modess, Benaedryl, Suetafette. Remarkably clunky girl name in Portland newspaper : Marqueeshia. Some other random silly ones : Mecca, Paisley, P.A., Binky, Blue, and Bruscetta. Years ago, I had the cut out page from a 1980's Portland phone book, which no lie, had a listing for Penelope Poopstain. It must have been a joke, but we laughed about it for YEARS. |
Well, one of friends last name is Ball. So on their answering machine it says "Hello, you have reached the Balls."
I also knew someone with the last name Cummins, Buttkus (prounced buttkiss), Cox, and Ingledinger Funniest name I've ever heard: Sor Wang. Not sure if these are too weird, but I know they stuck out in my mind! |
A sports reporter on the radio in RI's name is Jim Shorts. I worked with a guy named Ashok Matthai. (I shook my tie.).
Some of the names I've seen in this thread are crazy, parents gotta be doing some hard drugs to use such names. |

Well, I'll have to say that I have never met anyone with my name. My name is Sacha, which is pronounced Say'shu. My mother thought of it. It is a twist on Sasha. My mother's name is Linda, and at the time everyone was named Linda. She hated it, so she decided to give me a unique name. A name that no one else would have. I think she succeeded. :p

I went to junior high with a girl named Summer Massengill. I wonder if she was heir to the fortune? It would be worth it.

I knew a girl named Kresta. It's not too weird, but it really does just sound like "Crest" with an 'a' at the end. Whenever i'd be all "blah blah Kresta blah" my parents would be like "Cresta, Gleama, and Aima?" Gleam and Aim were apparently other brands of toothpaste at the time. |
I remember a girl in my grade school named Megabeth....don't know if its made up or whatever, but anyways she had a mustash, & we all called her "Mega-breath" There's a girl in my Web for Illustrators class named Phoenix, which is kinda pretty.... I also remember watching some documentary on beauty pagent kids a few years ago, & this one little girl was named Thumper, & another was named Swan! WTF?
Some of my favorite names are: Sorcha (Soo-ruh-ka) Saoirse (Soar-shuh or Seer-sha) Davian Maelora Rhonwen Vanora Adara Sosanna Thane Dathan |
