She's been asked about this in the past and said no way. But Bishop Tutu told her for the world to straighten out, women need to gain power. My vote's already been cast.

catinthedark 09-09-2005 09:43 PM

Mmmm.... no. Celebrity does not a stateswoman make.

ryan8472 09-09-2005 09:44 PM

Hey, she brought Derek Jeter to my school. She has my vote. :D :p

Oprah is already more than a celebrity I think.

DrummerDeanna 09-09-2005 09:46 PM

Now There's a campaign I can get behind

wondergirl9847 09-09-2005 09:52 PM

Oprah can't run for President, she already holds a higher office...

She's God, remember?

;)

No way do I want ANY celeb as President. Sorry.

Well, I'd certainly want to wait to hear the details of her foreign policy, how she'd deal with the situation in Iraq, her views on Iran, where she'd take the so-called "war on terror," her views on education and health care, and what she'd do about social security. That is, if I was American.

Right. Which she's not qualified to answer just yet. She may be at some point but not right now.

Hey, we had Ronald Reagan.

Actually, I always loved the quote from Back To The Future about RR being pres. in 1985- ] "No wonder your president has to be an actor, he's gotta look good on TV."

:p

She'd be great as director of Health And Human Services or as an Ambassador right now, I think. I don't think she'd consider it though. She reaches many more people doing what she does now.

A black woman as president, that will never, ever, ever happen.

I often wonder what will happen first: woman OR black man?

It doesn't seem likely, does it? But never say never... Anything is possible. Plus, its a woman's prerogative to change her mind. Some day maybe she'll be qualified.

That's part of what I love about the TV show 24 - they created a black President.

belladonna. 09-09-2005 10:07 PM

oprah gets on my nerves enough already.. if i had to see her on tv all the time as president i would end up blowing something up. possibly myself.

Nixxxed 09-09-2005 10:10 PM

Kathy Griffin: "I love Oprah. And I'm a big fan. But she thinks she's Jesus!"

And I can just hear her Convention speech:

(think booming Oprah voice)

"If I am elected as the first woman President, I will see to it that everyone in America gets ... A BRAND NEW CAR!!!!!!!! Massachusetts? You get a car! Mississippi? You get a car! Ohio, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota? You get a car, you get a car, you get a car, and YOU . GET . A . CAR!!!!! And Illinois, California, Washington, Texas! CAR, CAR, CAR, CAR!!!! YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

OK - so, maybe without the Howard Dean scream at the end. They just fit together so well.

Hey I actually saw that episode, with the guy who lost his legs! That was great! Was that really where you go to school?

dissention 09-09-2005 11:03 PM

Dennis Kucinich for President, Carol Moseley Braun for Vice President, Kathy Griffin for whatever she wants, and Anderson Cooper for Secretary of Take No ****. That's my dream team.

Yeah, it really is. I was like 10 feet from him. (:D) That was a real nice day. Especially for John (the kid who lost his legs).

I haven't seen any of her letters printed in the Globe for weeks, what's going on?!

I love him. I watched those stupid VH1 80s and 90s shows over and over just to see him.

Me, too! He's awesome. I even watched that atrocious Smoking Gun TV show for him. The only highlight of that wretched show was when he went into the make-up chair to be made up like Nick Nolte's mugshot.

Not to be dissentful, and I'm sure all his comments are spank on.
However, I don't love him, and I'm basing this partly from seeing him on the Daily Show (a long time ago) and also from "I love the...*insert 70's, 80's, etc.)
He's funnier on the "I love the", but his lisp really gets to me. :wavey:
