Any recommendations for a good show from The Other Side of the Mirror Tour?

I'm really interested in getting a show from The Other Side tour....I don't know why I picked that particular tour, but I'd like to try a few out. I don't collect live boots routinely, though I do have a few that I got in trades for one reason or another. I've perused a few trade sites and noticed that most boots from this tour are of lower sound quality than the normal, and already bad sound quality of most live Stevie boots. However, all sound quality aside, I was hoping to get some suggestions for a couple of shows.... I noticed that Juliet was performed early in the tour, but later dropped...I'd like to hear a show that includes Juliet.

Also, I'm intrigued by 'Two Kinds Of Love' being performed...was it good live? Really? Any comments on Stevie's Other Side performances of How Still My Love? No Spoken Word? Beauty & The Beast?

Ask Jimmy.

Neal 08-29-2005 09:49 PM

I'd go with the San Jose show. I only have 2, but SJ is far better quality.

'Two Kinds Of Love' is, unfortunately, as much of a drag live as it is on the album... :sorry:

The highlights (IMHO) are:

'Outside The Rain'
'No Spoken Word' (Better than the RAL tour)
'Gold Dust Woman' (looove the synths!)

Don't be sorry 'bout Two Kinds of Love. It is far from a favorite of mine. I was just curious when I saw it in the setlist. You know....kind of like I would be if Welcome To The Room Sara were in a setlist. Eew.. and Ooh! at the same time.

AliceLover 08-29-2005 10:02 PM

Here I am! :wavey:

If you want a show with Juliet that is fairly good in quality i suggest:

Stevie Nicks – August 20th, 1989 – Mansfield, Massachusetts (2 CD’s) (Quality B) (Aud.)

This doesnt have Juliet but it si fantastic Quality and lossless by the way:

9/9/89 Jones Beach Amphitheater, Wantagh, NY (A-) (2 CDs)

These 3 are the shows that most fans have and are high in quality:

Stevie Nicks – November 24th, 1989 – Rotterdam, Holland (2 CD’s) (Quality A-) (Aud.)
Stevie Nicks - November 19th, 1989 - Paris, France (1 CD) (Quality A) (Aud.)
Stevie Nicks – October 8th, 1989 – Houston, Texas (1 CD) (Quality A) (Soundboard)

I just got The AUDIENCE RECORDING OF THE HOUSTON TX 89 show and you can hear her doing the WLT Trouble video, singing Talk to Me accapella, and Two Kinds of Love accapella. It was so cool. Quality on it is about a B and lossless. Just got a bunch of lossless OSOTM shows in today thanks to Lisa :xoxo:

Got it. ;)

The worst part is the guy who sings Bruce Hornsby's part (Robert Martin?)!!! He is quite possibly one of the worst male vocalists on Earth! I'm exaggerating of course, but once you hear it you'll know exactly what I mean.

The other thing that makes me roll my eyes is Stevie's cheesy introduction; "Just how many kinds or love are there? Two kinds!"

AliceLover 08-29-2005 10:06 PM

One More thing... I just got this in today, lossless format, and Stevie really sounds great on it:

11/16/89 NEC Arena, Birmingham, Holland (B+/B) (2 CDs) -
Outside The Rain/Dreams/Rooms On Fire/
Gold Dust Woman/Alice (cut)/Stand Back/WLT/
TKOL/Edge Of Seventeen/HAEWAFY
Filler: 'Leno' '94 (Blue Denim & interview)/
Secret (w/Robin Zander)

Its a really good show. I have yet to add all these to my trade list but they will be soon.

That's my favorite. The European shows were a million times better than the boring US shows.

Agreed! All of them are really great.

SapphireSister 08-29-2005 10:08 PM

The best show by far from the ones I've heard from TOSOTM is Houston. It's a great recording, none of the others compare. Alice is the best from thats show.

And that Robert Martin is brilliant! I was blown away by his voice the first time I heard it. He has the voice of an angel. As soon as I heard TKOL I had to run out and find out exactly who he was. I don't know what you've heard but the man can sing, oh yes he can.

omg he sucks soooooooooooooooo bad. total torture. thank God she never used him again..

SapphireSister 08-29-2005 10:10 PM

Any version of Rooms on Fire from that tour is breathtaking, simply breathtaking. I should only hope to ever hear anything like that in my lifetime *swoon* Attn. Stevie Gods: Please bring back Rooms on Fire with TOSOTM piano intro thanks good-bye.

But the quality of the Houston show is the best since it was a radio broadcast and I think she rocked it.

I downloaded some tracks from this show about a year ago...I'll have to see if I still have them. Thanks for your suggestions, Jimmy!

The radio show? I like Outside the Rain and Dreams on that one. HAEWAFY, though...oy vey.

I've got a boot around here somewhere (either Dallas or Austin) that has a killer version of No Spoken Word, but the sound is so low. It barely sounds like the Klonopin-ravaged Stevie.

Dannie noooo he is soooo good!! I'm dead serious. I love his voice. She should never use Waddy again. I can't believe people don't like this guy. I thought he was brilliant.

waddy shouldn't be allowed to sing either and she must never touch his hair again like she did at the in concert hbo show. however he must always be part of her solo shows IMO.

Do you guys know how to post a file on yousenit.com? I want to start a thread and post and audio so everyone can hear but when I go to this site it only gives me the option to email it but I want to post it.

You HAVE to email it. Enter your email, upload it, and once it's done uploading, it will give you a link. Right click the link, copy it, and pass it out. :wavey:

Eek, I have to go look for it. The lovely Jan fixed it up for me a couple of years ago and fixed the volume. I'll check and see which one it is.

Yep definitely Austin if its a volume problem LOL!

I must say the opening night show is very good. Detroit 89 - Lisa upgraded the quality from a C to a B easily. Very good show!

The single most unintentionally funny thing Stevie has ever uttered, in my opinion, is her introduction to "Two Kinds Of Love" at the Mountain View show:
"Just how many kinds of love are there? In San Francisco they might say, 'there are two kinds!'"

Robert Martin wasn't bad at all. He has a good, clear voice... though somewhat non-descript.
My only qualm with him, and I'm not sure if he did it at all the shows are not, was his ultra cheesy ad-lib of "girl-friiieend" during the "TKOL" coda.

I lived in Michigan at the time she did this show. My parents wouldn't let me go to Detroit to see it. :distress: I was 16, but it was too far to go alone, and they wouldn't take me.

the beginning of the tour was so much better than the end of the tour.. she was practically a zombie in the last month of that tour.. the earlier ones from the US and Canada had better setlists and more spunk..

The best show from that year, in my really humble opinion, is the Concord Pavilion (Concord CA) show.

That show just seemed to be light years ahead of all the others: more exciting, more committed, more passionate, more stirring, more dramatic, more beautifully played & sung.

Probably because it was filmed. She always puts a little more into it when the cameras are rolling, it seems.

OMG I was just listening to a random live version of TKOL this morning and she mumbles something at the beginning and I was having the hardest time figuring out what she said but that's it! That's the version I have. Now I HAVE to go back and listen. How cute is that! But it doesn't sound like it was unintentional if she said "In San Francisco they might say.."

I still love TKOL. It's a beautiful love song. I'm really disappointed that fans don't like it more. I'll admit the lyrics are a bit trite at times but the music in the verses is really beautiful and there are some great lines in there. I love the line "great temptations never really die".

I recommend the following

3 shows:

Sept.15,1989-Chicago, IL-Poplar Creek (Audience recording)

Oct.6 or 8,1989-Houston, TX-The Summit (FM broadcast)

Oct.20,1989-Mountain View, CA-Shoreline Amphitheatre (Soundboard recording)

Isn't "good show from the OSOTM tour" an oxymoron?

TOSOTM show are actually some of my favorite. I know when I talk to people who saw them live they say she was really out of it but some of the audios are great. You'd never really know she was in a klonipin haze.
