Minneapolis Minnesota

Ok, I'm not getting paid for this but I'm going to do a little free advertising for my hometown. I've been all over, and still I love it here, even though it gets below zero in the Winter. Sometimes I'm glad we're called fly over land. That way maybe us Minnesotans can have this beautiful state all to ourselves. Any of you that have never been here, come check it out. BTW we do not all talk like the characters in Fargo.....

I've always been sort of facinated by Minneapolis ever since I considered a graduate theatre program there( U of M has a fantastic program). And I don't particularly like the heat, but still! It's SOOOOOO COLD! But it sounds like a great city...cultured, clean, fun! And people from there always say nice things about it, so obviously sumthin's goin' on!

I work with a guy from Minneapolis and we were talking about this just last week.

One of the true Jewels we have here is just outside of downtown we have what we call here the chain of lakes. It's 3 lakes, Harriet, Calhoun, and Lake of the aisles that are all connected by walking paths and you can walk run or bike around any of them. I've spent more hours than I can count down there. The views of the Minneapolis skyline around Calhoun are fantastic. I'd say around all 3 lakes, you could walk or whatever about 10 miles. It's one thing I'm very proud of that we have here

I have a vague memory of being in Minneapolis. I don't remember much. I was in Madison, WI and ended up in Minnesota  It was a good time, though!

You know, I like St.Louis alot too. Being a big baseball fan, I've been to see the Cardinals play several times, and I'm looking forward to seeing their new stedium that opens up next year. Sorry if I bored you with the sports talk. :sorry:

St. Louis is ok. I've lived here all my life, so I take alot of it for granted. The new stadium looks really nice so far (got a good veiw of it from the Top of the Riverfront revloving restaurant) but I am sad to see the old one go.

I know.Although there were a few games I've been to there that were like over 100 degrees. But I suppose it wont be that much different in the new place

I doubt it would be any different. That is why if I go to a game, I make sure it's a night game. ;)

I am looking forward to the new ball park in St. Louis. I will miss Busch, though, despite the fact I haven't been there in two years. Cardinals all the way this year!

The twin cities are cool and made my top 5 favorite cites and I generally dilslike the Midwest ,especially the southern half of it which is way too Bible belt.If I had to live in a 'fly over state' I'd rather live in Minneapolis and tolerate the winters than farther south and have to tolerate the rednecks, and I do have a reference point for having this attitude.I lived in Kansas City for several years and it was despicable.

eh!! lol I have traveled quite a bit too and you know I always consider Minn..the middle or half way point to my destinations..usually I am traveling btwn..the west coast and east coast..and I always look forward to stopping in Minn..It is a beautiful state with lots to offer.Northern part is really beautiful.I was just there this July and finally made it to the Mall of America..although only saw about a quarter of it though..I look forward to coming back again and spending more time in the heart of the twin cities..

Boy, after all these compliments, I think I'll write the governor and ask for a check.... ;)

I know Ryan, Brian J., and I are fans. There's probably more, too. When the playoffs begin, I'll be posting about it.

Cool. Even though I'm from Minnesota, my favorite team since 1978 has been the Boston Red Sox, and I've been to every major league ballpark in the country. I love baseball as much as Fletwood Mac and Stevie. ISnt that weird, a gay guy that's intense about those 2 subjects. We're out there, just few and far between.

ACtually, when I was out on the road seeing Stevie in July, I stopped to see games in Texas, Arizona, and the L.A Dodgers. It was cool as hell in L.A too cause I got to see Derek Lowe the ex-Red Sox pitcher throw a 1-hitter. Here's another little story I'll share with you. In '03 on May 15, I saw the Pirates play at home in the afternoon in Pittsburgh, then I drove up to Buffalo to see Fleetwood Mac that night. Man that was fun!!!

A Mac/baseball day! That would be a blast. I guess my favorite baseball memory was going to a couple of games at Busch during the 1998 home run chase season. The Cubs were in town late September. Of course, neither McGwire or Sosa homered that game.

I'm one of those bad fans who only care when my home team is doing well in the playoffs. :p Though St. Louis sports teams have a habit of doing REALLY well and then choking right at the end. Last year was painful!
