Favorite Cities in the U.S
I know not everyone will have an opinion about this, but what the hell.
I've had a chance to travel quite a bit and I wanted to share my favorite 3 cities in the country I've been to. (Besides Minneapolis of course, which will always be #1 for me :) ) #1.Boston. Besides being the home of my favorite baseball team, Boston has so much to offer in such a small area. I mean, I can walk around there for likesd weeks at a time and never be bored. The Boston Common alone, along with the public garden next to it are top places to see, along with the freedom trail. And then there's the FOOD!!!!!!, a subject very near and dear to this fat fag's heart....(6'4, 265) The North End, OH MY,the best Italian food I've ever eaten bar none. And then there's my other fav, seafood, or is it see food? The Union Oyster house, along with many other establishments have been eaten at by yours truly, and they've never dissapointed. Boston, #1 #2. Pittsburgh. Everytime I tell my friends this is one of my favorite cities to visit they look at me weird and say "What the F**K are u talkin about?" I say to them "You need to enlighten yourselves.." Pittsburgh is to me one of the most picturesque cicites going. You've got the 2 rivers coming together at Point State Park, a place I always spend time at when I'm in the Steel City. Then there's the Baseball park, PNC Park. The finest sports venue in the country in my opinion. You can look out over the right field fence and have the river and downtown right in front of you. And as far as food goes, mmm those Primanti brothers sandwiches. with the meat fries and wahtever else they can stuff into them, this is not for the clogged of arteries. Pittsburgh, #2 #3. San Diego. To me, bar none the best city in California. It never seems to ever get above or below between 65-75 degrees, and the Gaslamp district is a real treat with it's many great resturants. Also, a very safe city to talk in at night, and least in downtown where I was. Oh, and San Diego is also the first place I ever saw Fleetwood Mac in the front fow in 2003. :D San Diego, #3. So there's a little sampling of my opinions, for whatever that's worth. And, no I dont work for the travel channel........ HAHA  PLease feel free to share your opinions as to places youve all been to |

pittsburgh kinda makes me want to die. :x
i've lived here all my life. i love certain parts of the city, like the south side, and squirrel hill, but other than that, ergh. i've lived in cranberry, zellienople, bellevue, and sharpsburg, and i didn't really like any of them that much. i guess since i've lived here so long, i just don't get it. to most visitors, it's like, the most amazing thing ever because we have so many hills. haha. i will admit, the local music scene is pretty good. and the billions of record shops. but, i still prefer cleveland and philly, so yeah. we do have eat & park here which isn't too bad for cheap food, but i cannot stand primantis. i also hate the steelers. i am obviously not a real pittsburgher. |

i just never understood why everybody thinks it's so great here. maybe it's just the parts i've lived in, but i've been everywhere in this city, and it's just not my cup of tea. it's like there's a code for each part of the city - there must be 3 pizza shops, 10 bars, and a church within a 10 mile radius of the next burough or whatever. there's some cool stuff in pittsburgh, don't get me wrong. one half becoming one gigantic shopping mall, and the other half is going downhill by the minute, give or take a few small communities. oh yeah - favorite cities? 1) cleveland 2) philly 3) DC that's all i can think of. |

Los Angeles Cleveland Baltimore |
Chicago. Los Angeles. St. Augustine. Those are probably my top three.
I must say, though, that I do like Lexington quite a bit. Although not large by any means, we have some good restaurants and shopping and plenty of performing arts. I know many people do not enjoy "college towns," but I think the university adds a great deal to the community. Plus, I think it's beautiful....from downtown to the horse farms you'll see by driving just a few miles out. :) |

Favorite Cities:
1. Boston. I agree with everything that you said DavidMn! I am very lucky however because I live about an hour away by bus, car or train. As a matter of fact we went there last Sunday all over The North End. We went to G'Vanni's which had a pretty good lunch special and then we went to Mike's pastry. :) We also got caught in the thundershowers all day. We also went to Downtown Crossing and I got a pair of fabulous clogs. The Saturday before we went to The Natural Museum of History at Harvard. You are right when you say that you can never get boarded in Boston! 2. Philadelphia. OK this city gives me kind of the same vibe as Boston even though I have not explored it as much. It is only an hour away by plane. 3. New York City. I love going there. So much to do but $$$$$. I met a nice person on the train when I went in July. He told me a bunch of fun things to do that don't cost a lot of $. One of them was to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and enjoy the great yet cheaper food there. We were only there for a short weekend so we did not get a chance to do it but maybe in the fall we will try it. Maybe we can all post a fun place to go or see in some of our favorite or not so favorite cities. I am always looking for places to take some nice photos. |
There are many I have yet to visit, but the following come to my mind first:
My own city, Austin, of course! San Francsico New Orleans Nashville NYC |

I was in both cities and at both shows along with GreatDarkWing (Alex) we might have run into you at some point. I liked the row of stores in Champaign, however. Came in handy when I needed a new SD card for my camera. The highway from Madison to Champaign however. SNOOZE...... |
Las Vegas didn't make anyone's list? Interesting.

I like New Orleans, too... but only for one night. |
Out of the cities I've been to, Austin is the only one I could live in, so I'm going with that as my choice.
Dallas & Houston...blech...I hate the fact that if you're gay, you're pretty much relegated to the "gay ghetto." New Orleans is nothing to write home about, outside of the French Quarter. My native Shreveport is rightwing Southern Baptist territory, and I can't believe I survived being a gay adolescent in that place without at least attempting suicide. Until I see something better, I'm staying right here. :D  |
-Honolulu
-Denver -D.C. -Charlotte I don't like: -Boston (I was just cranky when I was there....should go back and try again) -Orlando -Detroit |

Where did you go in Boston? You really need to give it a second chance. It is a lovely city. |

Sounds like Providence. We have a nice mall downtown and an Ivy League school on the East Side. Other then that the city is pretty much a dump. I really liked Cleveland when I was there in 2003. I would go back there. I went to DC once last year and the area that I was in near George Washington University was nice. I would stay there again but some of the other parts are scarry. |

I was just there for the PBS taping. Driving 14 hours straight wasn't such a good idea. We arrived around 3am....and couldn't find a hotel....It was snowy...I was cranky and just needed sleep before the show the next night. The only areas I saw was the Fleet Center (all under construction) and the hotel room. |

I haven't traveled enough to know really. :distress: Chicago was cool, so was Madison. Most of the cities I have been to were middle of nowhere mid western places and I barely remember being there. The good old days...
