that's a strong contender, I tell you what.

mmm....lets say it has to be a song that was played fairly regularly....

ooo, this is hard....

I really hate the song....That's What Friends Are For (aaahhh! heeelp!!!). Sooo heinous. Dionne Warwick in general....*shudder*....Also in the running...
Su Su Sudio (or however).
So So Irritating. Ahuh.

Jessica Leigh 08-16-2005 04:07 AM

oooh... that freaking "someone left the cake out in the rain" song... shoot what is that called? MacArthur Park? oh gawd whoever wrote that must have been HIGH

 Good choices.

I hate Lady Marmalade by the Four Hos. I think it is possibly the most irritating record EVER!

HAHA! Not long ago there was a thread on irritating songs, and I remember giving a nod to this one. I mean yeah it's supposed to be symbolic, but wow... a song about a cake out in the rain just seems so odd to me.

irishgrl 08-16-2005 05:56 AM

GypsySorcerer 08-16-2005 07:06 AM

eclipse 08-16-2005 07:58 AM

Baddest Tunes you never want to hear

Oh, by the way...I have a few that come to mind (UNFORTUNATELY!!)

"Why do birds suddenly appear, everytime you are near, just like me, they long to be...Close to you" Carpenters- Smaltzy, yuck.

"Skyrockets in sight..... Afternoon Delight"... (I don't know who wrote this charmer-sorry) yuck even more...

"Alice's Restaraunt"- Arlo Guthrie- It's thanksgiving, play some good music who cares about Alice's restaraunt???, song just goes on and on and on....

"Mandy"- Barry Manilow- Song is about a dog people- not the love of his life----again, smaltzy

Just a few that I hate...and you??
~~eclipse~~

xdreamsunwindx 08-16-2005 08:25 AM

Natasha Beddingfield - These Words
Black Eyed Peas - Don't Phunk With My Heart

[slits wrists]

chiliD 08-16-2005 08:38 AM

"We Built This City" -- Starship

skcin 08-16-2005 08:48 AM

"Macarena"

GateandGarden 08-16-2005 08:50 AM

Okay, let's see, I like "Lady Marmalade," and admit that "Mandy" is bad but I wouldn't say it's the worst by any stretch of the imagination. The "All for One" song is just bland, I think. Not that bad.

My picks would be:

"Trapped in a Closet" by R Kelly (any and all parts of it)
"La La" by Ashlee Simpson
"Oh Aaron" by Aaron Carter (pretty much anything by Aaron Carter is the worst song, I think  )
"I Wanna Sex You Up" by Color Me Badd
"F*ck the Men" by Willa Ford (words cannot describe how I feel about that idiot)
"Bump, Bump, Bump" by B2K

There are some really awful remakes out there, too, obviously, like-

"Tiny Dancer" by Tim McGraw
"I Can't Get No Satisfaction" by Britney Spears
"Rhiannon" by Waylon Jennings
"Dancing Queen" by those damn A*Teens
"Little Drummer Boy" by Jessica and Ashlee Simpson

I have to agree with those who went with "Rico Suave," "Informer," and "Sorry 2004," too.

GypsySorcerer 08-16-2005 08:58 AM

I'm going to have nightmares about "Rico Suave" and "Sorry 2004" now.

I need to add "Final Countdown" by Europe. *shudder*

Wow, I love the Carpenters, I never find them irritating and at heart I'm a punk rock chick.
My favourite song of theirs is Superstar.

Oops. Apologies in advance to Mary. :)

It's sooooooooo melodramatic in that 80s way.

I love that song! But on to the issue at hand...

Some contenders for the worst song evah:

Barbie Girl - Aqua

Achy Breaky Heart - Billy Ray Cyrus

Forever Young - Rod Stewart (horrible remake which ruined the original for me forever)

Shut Up - Kelly Osbourne (who told this girl she had the right to sing?)

I'll post more....

Umm... that's actually not a remake. The titles and theme are the same but the lyrics are different, although Stewart did split the royalties with Dylan.

Rod Stewart:

May the good lord be with you
Down every road you roam
And may sunshine and happiness
Surround you when you’re far from home
And may you grow to be proud
Dignified and true
And do unto others
As you’d have done to you
Be courageous and be brave
And in my heart you’ll always stay
Forever young, forever young
Forever young, forever young

May good fortune be with you
May your guiding light be strong
Build a stairway to heaven
With a prince or a vagabond

And may you never love in vain
And in my heart you will remain
Forever young, forever young
Forever young, forever young
Forever young
Forever young

And when you finally fly away
I’ll be hoping that I served you well
For all the wisdom of a lifetime
No one can ever tell

But whatever road you choose
I’m right behind you, win or lose
Forever young, forever young
Forever young ,forever young
Forever young, forever young
For, forever young, forever young

Bob Dylan:

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

Fair enough. I'll call it a copy. I still hate it.

"Turn the Page" by Bob Seger, hands down. Words cannot describe how much I loathe that song.

Fair enough. I still love it. Next to "Rhythm of My Heart," it's my favorite Rod Stewart song. Loved it since I was little.

Honey, that song is the most self-indulgent, ridiculous, heinous piece of **** I've ever had the misfortune of hearing. It hurts my everything and always has. What bothers me even more is that it's so popular.

I have a "Final Countdown" ringtone on my cellphone. I'm constantly missing calls because I do the Gob dance (from Arrested Development) when it starts to play and I get distracted.

I just don't see how anybody could put that song in the same category as turds like "Rico Suave," "Achy Breaky Heart," and "Macarena."

And for the record, "Turn the Page" is my all time favorite Bob Seger song and I will NEVER forgive Metallica for ruining it.
