The Funeral?
Does anyone happen to know anything about the funeral?
I know they wouldn't want a bunch of uninvited guests there but I figured it was okay to ask now since they've probably had it already. Also, has there been anything in the Phoenix newspapers about this? Or an obituary, etc.? I've also wondered about how the Phoenix business community is taking this, and the Phoenix citizens in general - my understanding is that he was rather well-known there, and popular. |
I haven't seen anything in the Phoenix papers about Jess Nicks' obituary or funeral plans. Maybe they want to keep it a private affair.

It's pretty quick for funeral to have already happened isn't it?
|
In the part of the country where I live at, it's "average" to have a funeral 2-3 days after someone has died. And yeah, I was thinking about this too, that he was a really well-known person in his own right through his corporate and civic works and yet, no obit ran in the paper and the funeral was probably private and by invitation only. I'm sure that there were a lot of people who would have like to have attended and paid their respects, friends and associates of his but who weren't able to because this man's daughter is who she is. And that's really sad--never doubt for one second, that despite all the fame and the fortune, that celebs (and their families) pay a very high price for stardom.

I'm sure they've kept it private....as respectful as some fans may be there will always be the people who don't know their boundaries. Which is sad.
I think at a time like this - she's made her public statement - the fans have an outlet a la the NicksFix and AHI to send condolences/donations...that should be enough for people who love Stevie but don't know her or Jess Nicks. |
It just depends...

Oh my God that PICTURE!!!
:( Kudos to whoever thought to post that. :xoxo: |
If there was no mention of Jess Nicks' death in the Phoenix news papers it would have been because of bad journalism. Prominent community members in a major city are always given a decent write-up in the obituary/city sections even if their loved ones wish to keep their loss private. Out of respect to the family the story wouldn't have to disclose specifics of the funeral - like the date and place. If his passing was mentioned on Phoenix television news, it should have been in the paper.

As of now the funeral will be held this weekend.

Of course, that doesn't apply to the Nicks family. |

Stevie's Dads funeral should be private, family and close freinds will attend,A year and a half ago my stepdads funeral was a day later, he passed on thursday morning, wake him on friday,he was cremated. My mom had both of their funerals prearanged a year and a half earlier, she knew he was going to die with that bone cancer.

I'm not going to criticize anyone that has an interest in this subject, for for myself, I really have nonneed to know much about it. that's for the Nicks family and whomever they choose to invite. I really believe there is a line that fans shouldnt cross, and this is one of them. Again, it doesnt really bother me if others have an interest in the subject, just as long as it doesnt go too far

Instead of a funeral they had a celebration party this past Saturday in Phoenix. It was held in a private ballroom at a hotel for a couple hundred people. Many gave speeches about Jess to the crowd. Stevie and Lindsey performed Landslide together :).
Dear God I hope this party does not surface in the bootleg community, that would really be in bad taste. But you never know what people might turn up lol. No I was not there, nor do I know the Nicks family. |

I have lived in Los Angeles for several years. I know alot of people, the industry is a small world. Esp in the music community. You would be suprised how everyone is so connected. Everybody always knows somebody.
Dont worry Im not making this up. If you want you guys can go look back at the Judy Wong threads. I was the one that broke the news of her death to the Ledge 1st. No I do not work in the funeral business lol. |

Jess Nicks certainly has alot of life to celebrate! |
Just to chime in, I heard basically the same exact thing from a friend of mine last night. This was preplanned before Jess's death as well. He wanted it to be a celebration, instead of a mournful event. I was told Lindsey made a very beautiful, emotional speech too. (I am sure it included the word 'cycles' a few times)
I was also told that Lindsey did not perform Landslide with Stevie at the AHI benefit because it would have been too difficult for both of them to get through. Jess was seriously ill for weeks before he actually passed but the last three or four shows were nearly unbearable for Stevie. (according to someone I chat with who has done business in the past with the entire family) Having Lindsey out there onstage for Landslide would have been too much and the mask she was wearing during all the last shows would have crumbled quickly. (even Mick coming out for any songs probably have brought up alot of emotions in her) It sort of makes sense. She said for Stevie to get through the shows she really had to dig deep and put up a wall during many of the songs. I think it was pretty important to her Dad that Stevie be able to finish this tour out. |
I always forget that Lindsey and Jess were close :(

I can't believe what a strong woman she is. Hearing that she and Lindsey performed Landslide together gives me chills. I wrote a eulogy for my Mom but was too overcome to deliver so I had the minister read what I had written. I can't imagine doing what Stevie did. I guess this is part of what makes us love her and Lindsey both so much.... |

Would just like to comment a little - I have a pretty good guess about who it is that she gets at least some of that strength from. In a way, maybe that was one of her final gifts to him - to honor him in this way, even though it was so hard, because he wanted her to be strong. As she says, "This is for you, daddy." She also knew this was coming, and, I think, mentally prepared herself to do this for a long time, even though it was difficult. Having said all of that gibberish - Yeah. wow. |

I thought that Don Henley was at the AHI benefit, not Lindsey. 2.) Was it Lindsey, or Mick, who spoke at the celebration? |
Knowing that Lindsey and Jess WERE close, I cant imagine him NOT speaking.
Im glad Jess requested a Wake. Wonderful idea, a Wake. |
