"Official Bootlegs" from Tori Amos
I got email from Tori today. (Yes, I KNOW she typed and sent it herself - don't burst my bubble, bitches! :D ) She's the latest artist who will record and release "official bootlegs" of her shows.
http://www.toribootlegs.com/ It looks like there will be 6 sets altogether, with the first 2 due next month. Each one of her shows has a unique setlist, and even if she does repeat a song, you can be sure there will be something *noticeably* different about it. Just a heads-up for you Tori collectors and even casual fans, or for those of you who wanted to see her on tour this year, but couldn't. The CDs are cheap - you can pre-order and get 2 bootlegged shows for less that the price of an actual ticket to one concert. Excited! :blob2: |
Thanks for the heads up. So awesome! :]

Not a Tori Amos fan...
but that is good to know she is jumpin' on the "Official Bootleg" bandwagon....Hopefully other artists will now join the likes of Pearl Jam, Dream Theater (Not only are some of the older standout DT live preformances released officially, So are some studio rarities such as their complete version of the Metallica classic "Master Of Puppets"), Peter Gabriel, Kiss & Mark Knopfler in releasing "official bootlegs" to their fans.

Littlecricket is going to tonight's show (or maybe last night's), and I'm hoping for a review. |

They have a good selection of musicians on there - I'm surprised. I had heard about the Pearl Jam official boots & a few others, but didn't realize this trend was really catching on... |

I really like Turbid Blue too. They post some awesome stuff too. |
I have a large collection...

Besides, you're right - there are only, what, 2 official live recordings that she's released on her own? Edge of Seventeen and HAEWAFY? That's it, right? Well, plus At Last and the Divas thing, but those don't really count. Wow - that just made me very very sad. |

Yeah, Tori emailed me too. I'm super excited about these boots too. I've only been able to see her live once and LOVE her live especially now that her studio records have turned into collections of lullabies. At least she still kicks it when she performs live!

Yep...

I find it funny that for the amount that 2 Fleetwood Mac high priced tickets from the SYW tour cost I could've bought ALL of Pearl Jam's 2003 US tour shows on "official" cd's through their official website. |
Some good seats are coming up right now for her 8/21 show in Boston. Sixth row on the left, which she has her back to apparently, and 18th row center. I think I'm going to wait and try to get closer. She rocks.

I've never felt so connected to an artist. Whoever is doing her PR, fan communications, websites, promotions, is doing a damn good job! Not to mention all the stuff on iTunes, AOL sessions, live TV appearances... If we were discussing "official" Mac bootlegs, I fear we'd just now be hearing about shows from the Tango tour. Or earlier. And the website wouldn't be up until the demand for them had come and gone. :distress: And lullabies? Do you sing your children to sleep with "Hoochie Woman"? (I know what ya mean, tho... ) |

I like Prince's idea of giving away the new CD with admission. For those who've already bought it, they can give it to a friend, or sell it at a used-CD place. AND, I'd add a voucher for a CD or DVD of the concert you just heard -- you'd just have to log onto some website, pay the shipping & enjoy. Yeah, I know - good idea, but... |
That is another new...

I'm missing a chance to see her in Montreal in two weeks 'cause I'm going there the week before. Just works out that way. I'm seeing Garbage here when she's playing there. NO COMPARISON, I know. But whatevs. I REALLY want to see her again though. She's way up there for me as far as live shows I've seen go. Her new stuff is so soft though, you know! I know lyrically, she still has stuff to say, but her delivery just leaves me wanting to fall asleep. I actually tune her out about three songs into an album and then when it's over I realize I just missed an entire album, which I never do with music. I'm always very aware of what I'm hearing. Her last two have been really disappointing. I think it started with To Venus and Back (the studio part). There are some great songs on there but about half of it bores me. I want her to come back to her former glory! WHA! :xoxo: |
Awesome! Thanks for posting about this--I was just at the Atlanta show at Chastain Amphitheatre on Monday night, which almost got rained out, by the way!
I've got to head over there and check this out. |

I'm glad you made it through your rainy road trip! |
i donnow... i'm beginning to fear new Tori albums... her music's going downhill faster than i can suffer.

The reviews are the top two entries--read the second entry down first if you wanna go in order: http://www.livejournal.com/users/lalittlecricket/ Hope you enjoy! By the way, I never got an e-mail from Tori. :distress: How does one get on that mailing list? Wait--is it by sending your info through toriamos.com (by clicking on the mailing list link)? I just noticed that and sent in my e-mail. I'm a little late with these things, . P.S. Tommer, I can see where you're coming from because at first I really didn't care for Scarlet's Walk and The Beekeeper--at least not compared to her earlier stuff. But they are both really growing on me! I think she still has good music left in her. Or should I say, songs are still "chasing" her. ;) |

Just got a ticket for the Boston show, row 11, woo hoo.

On the other hand, that doesn't explain The Beekeeper. Although I don't think I loathe it like you do. |

She began the Piano Bar segment by saying that the songs she'd be perfoming were out before most people in the audience were born, but that her brother had loved them and he used to play her the records all the time. Then she started playing "Dreams." I cried. It was such a beautiful cover. And then she played "The Long and Winding Road." Fingers crossed that a bootleg surfaces. Here's the setlist, if anyone cares: Original Sinsuality Little Amsterdam Leather Amber Waves Goodbye Pisces China Playboy Mommy Dreams The Long And Winding Road Cars And Guitars Northern Lad Crucify A Sorta Fairytale The Beekeeper Gold Dust Tear In Your Hand Toast Baker Baker Her parents were in the audience a few rows behind us. :) |

as in thunder only happens when it's raining Dreams? |

Oh, Mikki - I forgot this was the show you were going to! "Jealous" doesn't even begin to describe my feelings... I first read about the show yesterday, and I've been scouring the Net for hints of a recording. If I hear about or find one, I'll post info here. (And PLEASE do the same... :xoxo: ) And what an awesome setlist - altho I read the show was kinda weepy, since it was basically a tribute to her brother. But I love that she doesn't hold back in the sense that if she *needs* to play a subdued or somewhat sad show, she will - and just trust that the audience will go along with her. And don't feel bad - I've gotten to hear "Landslide" twice at her shows. And both times: Boo-Hoo City. The funny thing is, I've never cried when Stevie sings it. The best time was the second time I heard it - it was in Austin, and when she started playing it people were obviously confused and trying to figure out which song it was. Then, I started to hear "Stevie Nicks" whispered around me, and then her name moved through the crowd like electricity. It was like people were conjuring her spirit as Tori was playing. |
Quote:
that's total coolness. I remember Tori doing Can't Get You Out of My Head when Kylie Minogue was diagnosed with cancer. part of me wonders if she played Dreams as a tribute to Stevie and Jess. aww...how sweet. :xoxo: I love Tori more each day. |

Hey, I may sound like a total tard, but how did her brother die? I never heard how, just that he died. Anyone know? |
