Board Games

Do you like to play them? What is your favorite? Least favorite?

I like to play. Nobody around here ever wants to play them with me. :( So I'm pretty much limited to camping & trips to visit family out of town. That's when I end up playing.

I LOVE Cranium the most right now (for those of you that haven't played, it's a combo between charades/performing, trivia, word games/puzzles & drawing/sculpting.) Hilarity ensues every time.

Other faves: Monopoly, Scrabble, Outburst, Taboo, Jenga (yeah yeah, not really a board game, bite me.)

I don't really like Clue or Life that much, but if someone offers, I will play out of sheer desperation. The worst board games I have ever played were The Simpsons & Friends trivia games. They were very dumb, so we just read the questions out loud & guessed without bothering to set up the board & play.

dissention 07-27-2005 09:33 PM

Clue, Trouble, and Monopoly are my favorites. I'm not big on board games, I like cards. My favorite is Skip-Bo. I could play that all day long. :woohoo:

AliceLover 07-27-2005 09:34 PM

I LOVE board games and no one here will play either LOL.

Monopoly and clue are my favorites.

ryan8472 07-27-2005 09:37 PM

I like Monopoly, but it takes too long to set up and to play. I prefer Trouble or Chess.

It should come as no surprise that I'm too stupid to play chess.

Mark tried to teach me once. It didn't work out.

littlecricket2 07-27-2005 09:49 PM

I really like backgammon! Some of my math buds introduced me to it in grad school, and whenever we got tired of studying or wracking our brains trying to write proofs for homework, we would play in the office as a diversion. We could play for hours, and we kept a long-term score sheet too. I don't get as many opportunities to play anymore, even though I now have a really nice board of my own! :(

I'm the Connect Four King. ;)

Mad4stevie 07-27-2005 09:59 PM

I like Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit.

I hate Pictionary - I have no artistic tendencies at all!

Never tried chess, but would like to learn.

I like Skip-Bo, too! I think I started playing that after I got bored with Uno as a kid.

:wavey:

littlecricket2 07-27-2005 10:03 PM

I dont need to beat that. I'd just beat you. :p

Ooooooo!

Tic Tac Toe is Connect four, stoopid. You're such a butt Josh.  :xoxo:

skcin 07-27-2005 10:13 PM

No, no it's not. Unacceptable. Toss Across is Tic Tac Toe. But the rules for TTT clearly state that it's 3 x's or o's, NOT 4. So, no, Connect 4 is not TTT.

Honey, I've been playing Tic Tac Toe since before you had pubic hair!

(Did you catch that crazy chick on Sunday night?! My...gawd.)

It's a spin-off. It's like saying that "Joey" is not the same as "Friends". Well, technically, it is not, but it is at the same time.

You probably have.

And I didnt, I was out. :(

amber 07-27-2005 10:28 PM

I like them ok. Monopoly, backgammon - trivial pursuit is my favorite. I like Aggravation, too. Chess is okay, but I'm not very good. I don't like slow games as much. So I like to play dice. And easy card games are okay.

GypsySorcerer 07-27-2005 10:32 PM

I don't play board games much - I like Cranium and Scrabble. Otherwise, I like Catchphrase, Trivial Pursuit and Jenga.

Least Faves: Backgammon & Checkers

estranged4life 07-27-2005 10:36 PM

I like to play...

Monopoly...That's about it.

Oh, I also have the handheld version of Monopoly (Plays identical to the board game) manufactured by Hasbro a few years back.

I enjoy:

Pictionary
Scattegories (or however you spell it)
Clue
Operation

estranged4life 07-27-2005 10:42 PM

I love playing Chess...

but I can never find anyone who can seriously play it (I've been playing since I was 8 years old).

StevieNicksEO17 07-27-2005 10:43 PM

My favorites are Sorry and Trouble.

But I know what you mean about no one ever wanting to play them. I guess my friends are just too cool.

greatdarkwing 07-27-2005 10:45 PM

Some of the funniest times (and memories) I have with my friends come from the Trivial Pursuit nights we used to have! We'd split up into teams and be completely entertained the entire night...that and the fact that afterwards we'd usually have a fun game of beer flip, or beer pong ...

I have a friend who Collects Board games, so we play junk you never have seen or would think to play!! european, american, asian.... Seems the germans are the cutting edge makers atm. Hooda Thunk it?

Mari 07-28-2005 03:44 AM

I love cardgames, especially a Dutch game called klaverjassen (is there an international variant of this?)
Used to love Trivial Pursuit but it's been a few years since I last played it.. some friends of mine have this new game called Carcasonne, I like that one too.

Board Games-Bored Games

I have always loved boaed games- When I was young my family always went to the ocean in the summer and stayed at our camp there- No electricity, an out-house, and an actual pump to get water from. It was very rustic but right on the water..BEAUTIFUL- Any way the reason I am telling you the background story is because we also used to get a lot of rain and with no lights at night, we did a lot of game playing during the days.

Candy Land-I was a kid, OK?
Life I used to like the car you got!
Stretgo
Parcheesi- not sure on the spelling

So,now I am older and although the first 2 are out...
These days, I would say:
Monopoly, but I agree it does take too long to play,
Scrabble
Pente-(games with colored stones, that you have to stop the other player from connecting, haven't known of anyone else that knows this game. When we play, I always have to teach)
Backgammon-Taught how to play in College, we used to have a little twist on it though...if you rolled doubles, you got to do a bong hit, hense, we didn't get much serious studing done . The game became know as "Bonggammon" today when we play, its just Backgammon
Trivial Pursuit
and some card games too, but not as many
Well that's my list and story~~~hope someone else knows these games :wavey:

I really enjoy board games - every few months a group of us get together at a local coffee shop and just play board games :p

I enjoy:

Monopoly
Trivial Pursuit
Scattergories
Trouble
Sorry
Scrabble
Cranium
