AHI Guests, Lindsey?

With the AHI show being just a little over a week away I wonder if she will add any more guests? I wonder why Lindsey is not listed as a guest? Think about it. He was one of the 'friends" in the past. I wonder if he will show up or if he is busy doing other things.

Since I can't make it I will not be that upset if he does not show up. ;)

I was going to go to AHI, but decided that it will prolly be like the Don/Stevie shows of the East Coast.

Yeah, it doesn't really sound like anything that spectacular to me. I mean I am sure that it will be a great show but it doesn’t sound like anything that would motivate me to go.

This one hasn't been billed as a "Stevie Nicks and Friends" show though, so I would doubt that it would be anything but the Stevie and Don show, except for the proceeds going to AHI. I'm sure there will be celebs on hand though.

Kelly 07-26-2005 07:49 AM

This really isn't a Stevie and Friends benefit though. It is a concert stop basically that is now a benefit. There hasn't been this extensive planning and there would be no reheasal time for a "Friends" show. I heard it was just going to be like the shows from early June with Don. Maybe Don had already committed to doing the benefit show when their tour was going to be much longer and decided to keep that committment when he pulled out of the other dates. I don't know if he will do his complete set but considering there are no other guests, it doesn't seem strange that Lindsey is not playing. I am sort of glad he is not scheduled because I can't make it out there and I would hate to miss him.
I am not upset at all at the idea of missing a Don/Stevie show. I loved hearing her sing on his three songs but I am wondering if they will even do that...at the last benefit Don did with her, Stevie's band played a song or two for him. Didn't they play Boys of Summer in 2001? If Don does not bring his entire backing band, they won't be singing Hotel California, NYM or LWE...so I am not bummed at all. I would have dropped a grand in a heartbeat if Lindsey was going to play a few tunes. (not just Landslide) Stevie needs to realize Lindsey is a big draw...Don, not so much.

HenleyFan 07-26-2005 08:21 AM

I don't know.....for some people, Don is a pretty big draw. :) Don should have his full band with since he's playing a solo show the night before in Colorado Springs.

I heard Stevie might ask Herbert Lom to appear.

What you've said, David, qualifies you as the greatest prophet since Custer said he was going to surround all those Indians.

Political correctness...Surely lives here in my part of Oklahoma.

sodascouts 07-26-2005 12:53 PM

I would hope it's at least a LITTLE different from the Stevie/Don shows.

When I talked to Geri, she told me that there would be GUESTS, she just didn't know who. However, we know that her word isn't exactly law with these things. I guess we'll see.

glitter_fades 07-26-2005 01:58 PM

It won't be anything special unless Lori sings again as she did in Vegas. That would be wonderful. I don't expect Don's band to come for the benefit. The likely set is Stevie's current Gold Dust tour songs, not the Two Voices set. Don will come onstage the same as he's done at past benefits and do Leather and Lace, and maybe another duet with Stevie from the Two Voices tour...something her band does like Circle Dance. Then he'll probably do a solo of Boys of Summer and that's it. The rest will be the same show she's doing everywhere.

They don't really have time to rehearse anything different. As much as I'd loved to see other guests, I don't think that will happen. The guests have always been advertised in the past and this year Don is the only one billed and being mentioned on the radio. If they were trying to fill America West Arena other guests would absolutely be necessary. The Dodge Theater is small and Stevie could fill it by herself. Don is just a bonus. He's performed at all the AHI benefits since the 90's.

I've thought about it and I don't think there's anything peculiar about him not showing up to play Landslide again after doing it 150 billion times in the last couple of years. He's probably just taking a long and well-deserved break from that whole act.

if i were guaranteed an LB performance, oh hell yeah i'd drop a load on prime seats and whatever else i had to do to get there. i'd spend a thousand just to see LB perform solo...

He would most likely just play on "Landslide' and maybe a few other songs hardly worth the $ trip IMHO.

HenleyFan 07-27-2005 12:19 AM

I really don't understand why don't think Don's band will be there. Don's playing a solo show the night before the benefit in Colorado Springs. It would be very easy and make perfect sense for Don to have his band with him. I'm thinking it will be a Two Voices show.....same setlist, etc.

He never brought his band before.

I hope you're right and I'm wrong.

I'd love to hear Stevie live on Hotel California, New York Minute and Last Worthless Evening. :blob1:

Kelly 07-27-2005 05:04 AM

Stevie and Don will have no rehearsal time...that is why I think it will be her gig with a few songs from him.
Stevie's band has always played the songs for Don that he sang on at past AHI's...his band never came along.(I dont think...)

I would drop a ton of cash right now to see LB do more than Landslide. Why Stevie do you not realize his draw??

HenleyFan 07-27-2005 09:52 AM

I don't know why they need to rehearse......they've already done the show. TM says it's Stevie with special guests Vanessa and Don. Vanessa will open....Don will do his set....Stevie will do her set. Makes sense to us. :)

I think in the past Don hasn't brought his band because he hasn't been touring. He's doing the solo show on the 3rd and the Eagles are set to begin rehearsing right after the AHI benefit, and most of Don's band is the Eagles backing band.

I guess we'll know next week. :)

And in the past he hadn't just done 10 shows with Stevie in the previous few months. I agree with HenleyFan, I really think this could end up being a Two Voices show.

Two voices . . . plus all the damn backups.

But I guess they couldn't call it the Twenty-Two Voices Tour.

Yes, the poor dear had to undergo great hardship. I can't imagine anything more horrific than having to relive that in an apperance for charity. ;)
