Insomnia anyone?

Alright, last night I didn't get to bed before 6 30 am, and I was only able to sleep until 10. Now tonight, I'm too excited about seeing Stevie again to sleep  Seriously, though, it's 7 am now, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips to cure insomnia short of a sleeping pill? * I hate taking medication *

xdreamsunwindx 07-23-2005 06:33 AM

i'm still awake for some reason. i feel like i'm completely hungover, which i'm not. i can't fall asleep. i hate it. -_-

I know, it does suck doesn't it? The weird thing is, I'm not even really tired...but on the other hand I'm not exactly operating at my highest level either *L*

Why would a person want to be asleep now? The sun isn't even up yet. ;) :D

When I'm excited for an upcoming event, I can't sleep either. And I'm like you, no medication, thank you.

Hoping somebody else can come up with something to help.

I am such a nightbird. I love the summers, when I can stay up or nap as needed.
But during the school year it can be a real problem.

I've always been a nightbird, I think it's just in my blood. I remember one year we were going on a trip to California, and I fell asleep at 2 AM, then woke up at 4:30 and didn't sleep another wink that whole day.

Oh tell me about it! I'd probably be better off if I could go to class at 2 am

Sounds pretty normal to me.
Every year I tell myself I'll be better about it, but at this point I'm thinking about moving to a job/career that doesn't require all the daylight hours. (Save the crack ho comments. )

The thing is, when I am able to get up very early & get out there before many cars are on the road, I like that, too. Afternoons are what I don't like, really.

lol, I know the feeling VERY well, about 2 months ago I vowed I would try to start going to bed earlier and just ended up staying up even longer. Never really works...

Dont start taking pills. I got addicted to Benadryl a few years ago and it f*cked my whole system up hardcore.

I find these are pretty good cures for insomnia: Watching QVC, reading (although I love to read), running a mile every night, masturbation and/or sex...

The sex thing is true, but the "experts" say not to exercise in the evening because it will cause insomnia. (I take the experts with a grain of salt, so don't think I'm trying to discredit anything you're saying. More power to you if you've found it works. :) )

Sure you do, it's just that the will to eat is stronger in you. Same with me. And most folks. That's still willpower, just not the one you think you want. :)

OMG I know exactly how you feel...It is normal for me to get to sleep around 3.30 - 4 in the morning...the problem is I have to be up at 7 :(

It wouldn' be too bad, but I actually feel like I need sleep soemtimes and when I need it I can never actually sleep,I mean right now it is 12:45 in the morning, I think getting a laptop was a bad move lol.

Now don't go blaming an innocent laptop. :(

I never sleep...

and mainly due to illness, so my insomnia cant be helped.

macmar71 07-23-2005 06:04 PM

I have bad sleeping patterns and I usually medicate myself when I need to get a good night sleep but I don't do it often and survive on 3-4 hours of sleep. During the week I do grab a couple of cat naps like on my half days from work~Wednesdays and Saturdays but this also screws up my sleep pattern. I read (but that can be bad if I don't want to put the book down), watching something mindless on TV, or a Enya or Clannad CD. Dressing lightly in the hot weather, a fan directly on me. I try these things but they don't always work.

mylittledemon 07-23-2005 08:07 PM

Personally my own insomnia is usually because I'm thinking about things to much and worrying. The future, ex girlfriends, money, work, sex, friends....all these things in a big melting pot swirling in my head can keep me up at night. Generally I try to get a minimum of 6 hrs per night.

darklinensuit 07-24-2005 04:23 AM

I have been up a lot the last couple of days - and I mean a lot - & have not been tired. I'm in a class next week & know it will hit me hard as I'm trapped in a chair just trying to focus. Ugh.
