Had to announce this...
I finally bought Out of the Cradle y'all! I'm so glad that I can finally say I have a Lindsey solo album, not counting the GOS songs, which were free. I've only listened to it all the way through once, but so far I'm into "Don't Look Down," "Turn it On," "This Nearly Was Mine" (I'd heard this one before and fell in love with it) and "Say We'll Meet Again." I just wanted to share this.

Woooooooooooo!!!!
Let me be the first to congratulate you on your purchase of OOTC! It's a flawless, wonderful album. My fave songs are Surrender the Rain, Souldrifter and Doing What I Can.
|
Congrats...
I bought it a few months back in a bargain bin for $2.99, Still the best $2.99 I spent on any Rumours era Fleetwood Mac members solo album.
|
OOTC will be your fav album for awhile. Be careful, you won't be able to listen to anything else. Plus, you will want to marry Lindsey and have his children...;-)
|
I <3 this album! Congrats to you for finally getting it! I hope Countdown becomes a fav for you! ;)
|
Hillary you will be a Lindsey obsessive before you know it!
Now you can join in with the OOTC survivor when it comes round! |
Yay Hillary! I love OOTC. Every song is so good! I have to listen to it at least once a week! My fav right now is You do or You Don't!
|
Always glad to hear when someone picks up some Lindsey solo.
I actually like the "Go Insane" album better, but OOTC is, of course, wonderful too. My favorite OOTC tune? "Doing What I Can" |

I guess I could just go through Amazon.com. |
Thanks Christy, Brian, Sharon, Janet, Curtis, Danielle, and Victoria! I listened to it all night last night. (Well, I did sleep, also). The only thing I don't care for is the spoken introduction to "Surrender the Rain." Seems really unnecessary. Plus it gets old mighty fast. But I have to say that there aren't any actual songs that I don't like! I love my Stevie but I can't say that about any of her albums, not even the first two that I love so, so much.
I didn't have much of an opinion yet when I listened to it all the way through the first time but the more I listened the more I realized how addictive it is. Wow. I really love "Say We'll Meet Again." It hits home right now and it's so beautiful. And "All My Sorrows" and "Doing What I Can." Love those! I can't get over how when I started out as a fan of FM (which was just a carry over from my Stevie fandom at the time), I couldn't have cared less about Lindsey. It was all about Stevie. Then I realized how great Christine is, and then it was Bob, and finally I figured out how great Lindsey is. Before, I was so closed-minded and one-sided about this. Now I can honestly say, between this album and the GOS songs, that I understand why there are many who prefer Lindsey to Stevie. The Chiffonhead in me is undying but now I see why like his music and his style better. |

Actually I've only been in two stores that carried his music at all. The other one was Barnes and Noble, but they only had OOTC. When I bought my copies of his albums, I had to special order them. I didn't have credit cards at the time so I couldn't buy online. Actually, at the time I was still in High School and didn't have a job. But I used to save my lunch money and walk to the store after school and buy cds with it. :D |
Congrats! :xoxo: Hope you enjoy it. 'Tis my favorite of Lindsey's.

Believe it or not, my initial interest in Fleetwood Mac was a carry over of my love (at the time) of Stevie Nicks, or Bella Donna specifically. But as soon as "The Chain" started on the premiere of The Dance... my loyalties shifted and fast. I've been a Buckinghamaniac ever since. |

And now it's your turn to get Mirage. Or I can just send you "Oh Diane" and "Can't Go Back" lol. No, no you have to get it sometime. I think you'd like the Stevie songs on it that you haven't heard. And "Can't Go Back" is one of my favorite Lindsey songs, though there's a lot of competition for that now! :] |

I like Amazon but there is nothing like going to a store and rushing back home to open it and pop it in your player. God I miss those days! Anyway, glad to hear that you are enjoying OOTC. :) |

As for getting into Fleetwood Mac the way I did... What can I say? I only became interested in Stevie because of her collaborations with Tom Petty. Then only found out that she was in Fleetwood Mac shortly before the '97 reunion. Before that she was just "that blonde chick that sang with Tom." BTW, I was all of 16 years old when The Dance first aired. |

Go Insane was the first LB solo album I ever got. I didn't know anything about his solo work so I chose Go Insane because I thought I knew the title song (from the Dance performance, but let me tell you, the live version and the album version are two very different songs). Then I got the other two. |

On a similar note, I've always wondered why so many people seem to hate "September Song," which I haven't heard yet. Maybe I'll know when I hear it. |

If you like "Johnny Stew," you might like his first two albums then. I wasn't aware that people hate "September Song." It certainly isn't one of Lindsey's best songs, but I really like the way his voice sounds on it. "and the days dwindle down to a precious few..." |

"Love is like a grain of sand, slowly slippin' through your hand..." :distress: |

But I can understand why you don't like it. I hate "Family Man." It's the only one I feel that way about. Though I will say that, unlike Stevie's worst Tango offering, WISYA, it's actually listenable. |
Congratulations, Hill!
My faves on 'Out Of The Cradle': "Wrong," "Doing What I Can," "You Do Or You Don't," "Turn It On" and "All My Sorrows." I love the entire album actually, but I've never found an appreciation for "Street Of Dreams." Every now and then I'll let it play through, but more often than not, I have to skip it... along with the spoken intro to "Surrender The Rain." I really latched onto a couple of these songs during my "dark period" about ten years back. The very first time I ever really emotionally connected with Lindsey's work (aside from "I'm So Afraid"). "You are the man, do what you can... just go out and turn it on...." |
OOTC was the greatest thing I had EVER heard when I first purchased it about 3 years ago. I still love it alot. My favorites are This is the Time, Wrong, Street of Dreams, You Do OR You Dont and Countdown. The only songs I dislike are Surrender the Rain and This Nearly Was Mine
|
Thanks Brian and Hawkeye; I like all the songs y'all like (right now I like all of it besides the spoken intro).
Brian, I know what you mean about connecting emotionally with his music. That doesn't happen for me every time, either. I've connected with some of the GOS songs and now this. Very much this one. Hawkeye, how come you don't like "Surrender the Rain" and "This Nearly Was Mine"? "This Nearly Was Mine" is the only one I had heard beforehand. I heard a live version, actually (which I think was better than the album version) and I LOVED it. You and I are never consistent with the song likes and dislikes, though. We agree on "Angel" but I know you hate "Miranda" and I love that one. |

I always loved his music for the sound of it and the production finesse. But it was always for those aesthetic qualities more than anything else. Like I said, until 'Cradle,' "I'm So Afraid" was pretty much his only song that I really connected with in a major way. But 'Cradle' really hit me where I live. Unfortunately, I can't really say the same about too many of his 'Gift Of Screws' tracks. Not that I don't love those, too -- it's just that there were really only two or three of them that I truly connected with. |
OOTC is superb!! Kick A$$ guitar work, melting vocals and need I say more... glad you like it! :blob1: :blob2: :blob1: :blob2:
