Does anybody here have...

a second job...an inheritance...to support your Stevie habit? I would LOVE to go to Vegas again...but I am BROKE!!!!! Tell me your secrets!!! :wavey:

diamondsnake 07-17-2005 06:40 PM

I'd love to go to Vegas again too...

The only reason I was able to go to both the Florida shows was because I got a bunch of cash for my birthday from my Grandparents. That, and I sold some old junk on eBay.

... JUST KIDDING!!

My secrets? They're called 'credit cards'....and I'll be paying for a long, long time.

No, but really, during the 'Stevie Times', as I call these times we are in right now, with a tour and such.....during these times, in order to afford all the little collectible things I like to buy, I just learn to go without other luxuries for a few weeks....and by luxuries, I mean things like eating out, drinking at bars, new clothes, CDs, movies, Starbucks, toys, plants.....basically, anything I don't need gets erased from the budget, and amazingly, lots and lots of extra cash materializes.

If I can't pay for it in cash (or have the cash immediately following the show), my ass ain't going (and either is the rest of me). Thusly, it's all over :distress:

HejiraNYC 07-17-2005 07:02 PM

Fortunately I have more restraint than cash. After five shows I think my Nicks fix is pretty well sated... although I must admit I did rummage through the video closet for my old bootleg videos this weekend . Plus I'm building a house, so all my cash is going towards lumber, concrete and illegal South American immigrant labor   .

Congratulations. Will the house be in the city?

Good luck with the house. I blew off remodeling my bathroom to go follow Fleetwood Mac around in '93. I don't regret it. I went to Vegas but I probably won't see any more shows.

StevieNicksEO17 07-17-2005 08:24 PM

The only reason I got to go to three shows is becuase I got about $400 dollars from my family for my birthday. If not for that, I would have had a lot of begging to do to go to only one show!

lbelle1214 07-17-2005 08:30 PM

I have drained my savings (what little I had left from putting my youngest son thru college in Orlando) to go to Vegas and Houston last night. No regrets...but I'm just wondering what I'm going to do if she decides to extend past the upcoming Vegas gig. Withddrawls or illegal money making activities??? Just kidding...

darklinensuit 07-18-2005 01:38 AM

I decided to put all the money into one Mac or Stevie show per year in 2004 and 2005 rather than go show hopping like I did two years ago.

you know, you really should go show-hopping.. much more fun

diamondsnake 07-18-2005 02:19 AM

I hope that she tours again next summer. I want to do the whole show hopping thing. I want to make a whole road trip out of it. I'd get to see a lot of the USA that I have yet to see and I would get to see Stevie every few nights... It would be a dream summer!

NOOOOOOO! no more touring for Stevie... she has oversaturated the market enough as it is in the past 4 years.... unless she comes out with a new CD next spring, she absolutely shouldn't tour next summer, imo...

Chris, can't you wait until 2007 to do the show-hopping thing? ;)

I used to think like that, but Houston was packed.
And I think maybe much of the problem isn't so much oversaturation as the need for a new setlist or theme. Say...Stevie & Lindsey & a guitar? :blob1:

Oh geez you guys - STOP IT!! I had already told myself that this Dallas show was it for this year since I already did Vegas in May and now I am actually thinking, "How can I make that work"?

I am so addicted to Stevie. If I keep talking to myself, I will get grateful that I'm not a coke addict or something, add up the money I would be spending on that if I were and then I can rationalize going to Vegas.

My mind is so twisted!

It was so difficult for me to not jump in the car and go to the second AC show but my husband has really reached his limit. I did like 15 SYW shows, flew to Vegas for four days, went to three of these solo shows and the hubby has finally asked me if I need therapy. I just cannot justify it to myself. Yes, I work hard, have two jobs but with a couple of kids my own desires are secondary. I would literally hop into the car and follow Stevie around from venue to venue if I could. I never tire of seeing her. I really want to go back to Vegas next May if she plays there again, so I am pacing myself with the spouse. I don't want to overdue it and have him put the skids on my plans. He has been a total doll with taking off work so I can split for five days to Vegas, he has turned a blind eye to the cash I have spent on tickets, he has driven to Hershey at five AM last year when I lost my car keys to pick Rissa and I up. He is pretty much a saint when it comes to Stevie and Lindsey. He knows it makes me happy and I always put myself second to him and the rugrats. He has been so cool with me doing my own thing but I have to set some kind of limits..unfortunately. I am glad that Vegas is probably the end for this Gold Dust tour and the next big thing will be the Mac. I can do Vegas in 06 if Caesars brings her back and then go crazy in 07 with Mac shows. My friends and I are already planning it. First and second show...last show...etc etc. It will be sad if it is their Farewell tour but I am predicting a total blast.

ontheEdgeof17 07-18-2005 07:13 AM

I dont go to any show unless I can afford it. I can afford Red Rocks, so my ass will be in the seats. :D

It's been an awesome couple of years. I'm fortunate enough that I work at a place that's understanding about my need to pick up and see Stevie and we're fortunate enough that we live in an area where we can pack up and drive 2 hours, an hour, 30 minutes or 15 minutes to go and see FM and Stevie. Annnnd we're also lucky that Joe is great -- carting our asses to the airport and picking us up after the handbag incident of 04' You and I have been all over creation following them around and I couldn't have asked for a better travel partner. You better miss me next year, woman! But i'm sure L and K will be almost as much fun as me :p

Stevie Nicks Concert fund

Only one job here, I save up every year like a Christmas savings fund. I geust I call it the Stevie Nicks Concert fund for me. hahaha lol...

Regina 07-18-2005 08:14 PM

I do have a second job

And have used some money from there to pay for concerts. And my tax refund.
But I still need plastic (my main job doesn't pay that well).
And I think I'm still paying off FM 2003.
I'm not doing Vegas, though.
