Your dream opening song

A bit of a carryover from another thread. What would you pick as Stevie's opening number?

I'd stick with Outside The Rain, a perfect opener. Although I agree with Curtis that Rooms On Fire would be a good one.

I don't see the need for opening with a rocker or highly upbeat song like Enchanted. I just think that's too formulaic. I think the opener just needs to capture the essence of the performer.

dissention 07-14-2005 12:44 PM

Sable On Blonde

I'd pass out if she waltzed onto the stage to the lush opening of that song.

skcin 07-14-2005 12:46 PM

TISL or Bella Donna

diamondsnake 07-14-2005 12:48 PM

Sister Honey!!!

That would rock!!!

Sable on Blonde would be pretty amazing.

Neal 07-14-2005 12:52 PM

I've always liked 'Outside The Rain', still do. 'Rooms On Fire' is another good choice, and I've always thought 'Stand Back' would be a great opener, though it's unlikely to ever happen...

TheBlueLamp 07-14-2005 12:52 PM

Sable On Blond or Blue Lamp would be great. I wouldn't mind Sister Honey, but she'd have to do some funky dance out onto the stage.

wondergirl9847 07-14-2005 12:52 PM

No slow songs

I HATE when people open with slow stuff...I am already on an adrenaline high just going to see my fave artists, so I wanna ROCK (tm Dee Snider)!!! I would love to hear Stand Back right off the bat....and leave Edge towards the end of the show.

Nothing Ever Changes would be fun too.

Highwayman 07-14-2005 12:58 PM

Fire Burning...

And for FM... From a darkened stage, Stevie walks out from one side, Lindsey walks out from the other... They meet in the middle... and they sing Second Time... Then the drum beat starts for The Chain...

MirrorInTheSky 07-14-2005 12:59 PM

Solo: TISL

Mac: FIREFLIES!!!!

Ghosty 07-14-2005 01:25 PM

When I first heard Stand Back live in the 80's, with all the drum intro, I had goosebumps from it. I could just picture her opening with it, all that drumming intro getting people all spazzy and excited. I always pictured the stage totally dark, then as the bongo's start, a colored light would shine a little on the person playing. Then another colored light (dim lights) would shine as each person started playing their instrument, one at a time (drums, bass, guitar, then keyboard). Then of course as Stevie starts singing, a bright white light would shine on her.

I also love Bella Donna live, and that would be pretty to ease into as an opening number. But it is very mellow, so maybe is better mid-concert, I don't know.

I think anything unusual that she's never done live before would be exciting. Like Violet and Blue. Or Blue Lamp.

SapphireSister 07-14-2005 01:30 PM

Rooms of Fire! I only started to see Stevie live with SYW so I don't have high hopes for ever seeing this song performed but one can only dream!! I would pee my pants and probably pass out (and I thought of Rooms the second I read the title to this thread).

*The first time I heard it live on a boot I cried. I'm so dramatic but this song represents a lot of things in my life

eric51078 07-14-2005 01:35 PM

Nothing Ever Changes...I think that would rock!

jkmaletic 07-14-2005 01:35 PM

I'd have to agree with Rooms On Fire too. Talk To Me would be great as well. It was disappointing to hear her say she may open with TTM in Vegas but never did. :(

I don't understand why she doesn't do this one anymore. I thought she did a nice job of it at House of Blues in '99 but she dumped it the next night and I guess it's gone forever.

BTW, I finally got to listen to "Touched By An Angel". It's a very moving song..thanks again for sending to me.

Talk To Me would be my first choice for an upbeat song.

Nightbird17 07-14-2005 01:56 PM

All Shows should start off rocking.......

That's an interesting idea.

Long Way To Go

I adore Sable on Blond, but I want a real rocker for an opener.

It's no worse than Sable on Blonde and it is a hell of a lot better than Than Talk To Me, which is just lame and boring all around.

Im with you 100% at least Storms is a beautiful song.......Sable on Blonde  TTM i can live with

diamondsnake 07-14-2005 02:28 PM

Storms as an opener? People would be all excited to see Stevie and then they would be put to sleep! Not that it isn't a good song, but the first song has got to be somewhat upbeat and not depressing.

That is, if she'll never sing Angel again.

Stevie thought about opening her last few months of Rock a Little shows with "The Nightmare," & believe me I was all for it. I thought that would have been perfect.

Now I want her to open with "Sweet Betsy from Pike" or "Twilight on the Trail."

Can you imagine those rockin first few chords and bass starting up, and then stevie comes bopping out, bouncing a little, dancing, all happy and smiley walk? You know, a bounce-out? :blob2:

HejiraNYC 07-14-2005 03:29 PM

An extended drum intro segueing into The Wild Heart  She could totally rock this song with her current voice! Well, except for that final "wild heart" at the end. :)

I'd rather NOT imagine her ever performing that song and I'm looking very forward to it going down in FM survivor.

What's up with me teasing Amber lately? It's too fun ;)

Sable On Blonde

OMG I totally agree, this is one of my, if not my VERY fav song by SN...would pass out, too...
