Ledgie Laundry Mishaps...

So I was doing laundry last night and I took the blacks out of the wash - but just had a few minutes to wait for the dryer to finish its load - so all my black stuff was resting on the sides of the opne washing machine - so I thought I'd get my load of whites started...

So I'm pouring the bleach into the machine thinking at that moment I must be the stupidest person ever - all my black clothes - on the washer and me witha big heavy bottle of bleach - luckily nothing happened...

Anyway -then I had a stain on some Kahki pants - so I used a stain remover -that SAID it was color safe...my ass!! My pants are all splotchy and gross looking now (this was a seperate day - no bleach was involved) -I was so mad

Um lets see..

Oh the worst?

Doing a load of black laundry - and I forgot to take a kleenex out of one of the pockets...it was awful....

Anyway - any interesting Ledgie laundry mishaps to share?

I remember when I first moved out on my own...I was 19 yrs old and had my 1st apartment. Well I'm embarrased to say my mama always did my laundry. She was a stay-at-home mom so...

ANYHOW...I mixed bleach and ammonia together in my whites. There was this noxious fume that went up like a cloud in the laundry closet. I nearly passed out breathing it! Told my mom about it later that day and she died laughing...she said "Goodness gracious havent I taught you anything!?"

That's too funny! I've gotten bleach stains on clothes because of splashed bleach on machines at the laundromat. I really don't use the laundromat anymore because the last time I went I looked into the tub and there were little hairs everywhere. I looked at 2 more, they also had them. I walked out and haven't been back since.

Yeah I later learned it's a toxic gas that is created, and it can actually kill you in a brief amount of time.

My nephew empitied a packet of cherry kool-aid into my sisters wash.
It ruined everthing.

I can't remember what I mixed with Bleach - but I once mixed Bleach with something in my bathroom - I was doing some hard-core cleaning - the fumes became so great - my eyes started burning/watering then I started coughing - my throat felt all raw and gross- it was horrible - I immediatly went out side but my throat remained weird for a few days :distress:

Whatever it was, it had ammonia in it. Didn't you people learn about this in science class? Also, my parents used to warn us about it. Be careful, geesh!

amber 07-11-2005 12:44 PM

This one is really bad. I mean, i was really bad at the time. Okay, so, when I was 21 I had this one boyfriend I cheated on. Never cheated again. So.
I lived in the upstairs part of the house with my cheetee as my roomate. My boyfriend that I cheated on lived downstairs. In the back part of the house lived the best friends of my cheetee's ex/current girlfriend (the one he cheated with me on) and also they were friends with my boyfriend. The night before my 22nd birthday, I put a load of all my cutest summer delicates in the house washer. I went to move them to the dryer the next morning, on my birthday, and there were bleach spots on them everywhere. everywhere. All my cutest clothes, on my birthday. It could've been an accident? But I don't really think it was. SABOTAGE!!!!!!
Anyway, don't cheat kids. It can ruin your laundry. :D

I think we've all pretty much been in situations that were fun, but we knew they werent good for us. I lived in a duplex that had a big party every week. I'm talking 60-80 people we didnt know, among about 9 people I did know. Fun times, but I'm surprised I aint dead.

Whats gross is that if our cleaning just disappeared one day, I think my whole family would turn into hermits and live in piles of our own laundry    You guys have NO IDEA how true this is...

 Yeah, it's a good idea never to mix bleach with anything... unless you want the hazmat team at your front door.

True Laundry Story #1:
I bought this sweet little black shirt at Guess. I bought it a size smaller than I normally would, so it would fit just a particular way. It was made of hemp, and was really soft and had cute little wooden buttons. It was expensive. I didn't bother reading the care label...I mean, I NEVER read them anyway, so why would this case be any different? Anyhow, I washed it the first time with my other dark colors, and tossed it in the dryer.

Oops. http://www.geocities.com/virgolibrapisces/giftard.gif

I'm six-foot-one, and when this shirt came out of the dryer, I could not even button it....except near my navel.....which is about where the shirt extended to on my torso.

Needless to say, my friend Alan, who is only about five-foot-three, got a brand new shirt the next day. It fit him really well, and he looked terribly cute in it. :)

True Laundry Story #2:
One of my exes.....he was a Pisces, and he had this really cool black, Pisces T-shirt that he had bought at some new-age store. To him, this shirt was like spun gold.

One day...I can be such a ditz....I put it in the washer with some other white shirts, and....PRESTO! It came out tye-dyed, in a splotchy bleached sort of way. Totally ruined. Oooooops. So....he wasn't home....and so I threw it away....and then just pretended like I knew nothing about it. What Pisces shirt? To this day, I've never fessed up to this. I don't think I will.

ALMOST a laudry story, but it was with ironing.

I tried to iron my graduation gown. I burnt a hole in it because it was plastic material.

So I had to buy that one ( I was so poor I had to wait until summer and didn't get my diploma until I paid!) get another one that was really short ( I was the tallest in my class and luckily ( for me) a girl was kicked out so I got her gown..she was 5'3) and it just sucked. I got into alot of trouble for that.

That's so damn funny.......

Jessica Leigh 07-12-2005 06:00 AM

probably the dumbest laundry related thing i have done was when i was a teenager. my parents had bought me a pager as a sort of leash and i accidently left it in my jeans pocket when i did some laundry. when it came out of the washing machine it was thoroughly soaked and ruined... my parents were kind of strict and mean when it came to doing dumb **** like that so i just dried it as much as possible and told them that i didn't know what had happened but it didn't work anymore. so my dad took it to the cell phone/pager place where he got it and the guy opened it up to try and figure out what was wrong with it. well... a bunch of water came out (it was one of those bigger ones with the big screen to receive text messages) and my dad called me and said "so i took your pager to the store and they opened it up and a bunch of water came out. anything you want to tell me?" and i was like "uhhh oh yeah i accidently washed it with my jeans." i was afraid i was going to be in a whole bunch of trouble for being a retard but he just laughed and went "ooohhhhh ok now the truth comes out"

other than that and several stupid instances of putting sweaters in the dryer i have been pretty lucky with laundry. (knocks on wood)

Well, you turn your iron on and burn things. I have a bad habit of plugging it in but not turning it on and then coming back a few moments later after it's sufficently heated (only not) and then ironing without it turned on, wondering why my shirt/dress slacks are still wrinkled
