Awesome!

I had never seen that before. Too bad it is shot far away, I really can't make out her face or what year this was.

Very cool find!

Hey Livia, thanks for posting this! Their harmonies sound great! This looks like it was around 1985 or '86 or something. When she first takes the mic, she says she hasn't done the song in 6 years!

I think I saw this clip somewhere a long time ago, but it has been a while and I don't remember where I might have first seen it. Thanks again!

amber 07-10-2005 06:48 PM

 Omigod, that was amazing! The harmonies were beautiful! Wouldn't you just have sh** bricks if you were randomly at that show?
Thanks, Livia! That was stellar.

KateTheCursed 07-10-2005 06:49 PM

Don't remember where I got it, but I stumbled across it a few years ago.

You really think it's that early? I always assumed it was from the early 90s.

Her look is consistent with the late 80's early 90's.

Thanks for posting that link Livia! I would say this is '88, cause she said she hadn't sung the song in six years, and the last time she would have sung it, would have been on the Mirage Tour. Plus, from what I can see...it looks to be her '89 look.

Livia 07-10-2005 07:00 PM

It says at the top of the page "1980s..." That looks about right to me, judging from the guys' hairdos (mullets) and clothes. I love how the crowd screams when they start singing together! :]

Maybe it was more like '88 or '89, judging from what the others have said.

No, this is from June 1991 at a little club in Santa Monica CA. It was a benefit for one of the Crago brothers.

Ah, there we have it--the definitive answer, thank you! The only reason I guessed earlier was because I assumed Stevie would appear heavier in the early 90's than she does in that video, but I guess she really didn't gain the most weight until '93 and '94.

I don't know whether it's definitive, but it's on this site:

http://www.venicecentral.com/audiofc.html

You can download some great MP3s & RealAudio at this site. I'm listening to "What's Goin' On" right now from the Festival Express show in April 2004. Venice was (is?) really a great pop-rock cover band from Los Angeles. Of course, the drummer, Scott, lucked out & now drums for the Eagles.

You can also see that the band covered "Landslide" for many years in concert, as well as "If I Were You."

That's what's sort of weird about that clip. She looks quite a bit slimmer at this show than she did at the end of the Mask tour, just six months before. She also sounds better.

Thanks for posting the clip. I haven't seen this before today. The harmonies are very nice!

Wow! Thanks for posting. I hadn't seen that clip before. :)

Venice is a great band!

Scott (the drummer) and also Michael Lennon from Venice toured with Stevie back in 1991. I have Venice's cassette from around that time and it's really good stuff! I had always wondered what happened to all of those guys!

There was also a radio show done around that time with a killer version of Edge of 17 that went on, like, forever! It had all the thunder sound effects at the beginning and a (fast) kick-ass guitar intro. Anyone remember that one? I think Ed Shocky (spelling) was hosting the radio show.......maybe out in CA?

The reason I remember all this Venice stuff is because I was blessed with meeting the entire band (and Stevie!), and got to hang out with them all night after the August show back in '91 at the Taj in Atlantic City. Really was an awesome time! :)

Thanks for bringing back some great memories for me!

Yeah, that was the radio broadcast of the Stevie Nicks show at the Whiskey, an L.A. club, from November 1991.

I think the video is from a different show....... if you go to the section where it lists concerts, it has the Crago benefit listed that you can listen to-- and that Landslide is definitely different...... you can also listen to Dreams.........

You know, I wondered about that, Amy. That might explain the apparent discrepancies. Wait ... which page are you on? What's the URL?

So this might mean that Stevie showed up at a Venice club gig to sing Landslide in 1988 or thereabouts. It may even have been 1987 before the big Fleetwood Mac tour started. Stevie did that Zoo thing in Phoenix about that time, too.

From the page that has the video click on "return to Venice Central"--then scroll down to "audio clips"--then scroll down to "full concerts" and then on that page it is like the third show from the bottom......... when you click on it Landslide starts at around 6 minutes into the show....... The Venice singer starts out this Landslide and then Stevie joins in--it is definitely different.... I like the video version better myself :) And then right after that is Dreams.....

Hmmm...so maybe that video clip really is from about '88? That would explain Stevie's appearance I guess. She looks more like post "Rock a Little" in the video.

I also love how when Stevie sings duets live, she watches the other person when they are singing and sometimes mouths the words along with them... I noticed she did it at the Henley shows, and when I saw her do it here, too, it made me smile. She's just too cute. :xoxo:
