Favorite rap tunes
Hee! I am listening to California Love by Tupac and Dr. Dre.
I know this thread probably won't get tons of positive responses, but anyone have any fave rap tunes? Baby Got Back - Sir Mix-A-Lot California Love - Tupac/Dr. Dre Parents Just Don't Understand - DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince Funky Cold Medina - Tone Loc Bust a Move - Young MC The Way I Am - Eminem Lose Yourself - Eminem Stan - Eminem Men in Black - Will Smith Summertime - DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince Work It - Missy Elliot 911 is a Joke - Public Enemy Mama Said Knock You Out - LL Cool J Around the Way Girl - LL Cool J Sure, this ain't gansta rap, but it's still rap. |
LOL - NOT a rap fan here - at all
|
Rap?
Sorry ,
my fav rap tune is by Blondie- Probably one of the first rap tunes named "Rapture" ~~eclipse~~ |
oh I like it, sometimes. Last fave is a dutch rap: De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig - Watskeburt :D

and from the others you mention: missy elliot, she's really good. I find myself liking a lot of snoop dog songs too, they're really cleverly produced. Edit.. Hmm, how did this happen? I thought I edited my first post. Uh, nevermind. |
"I Play Chicken With The Train"---Cowboy Troy

-_- I liked Twista's Overnight Celebrity and a few Missy Elliot songs. Other than that, i'll pass. |
Right - ok - if we're counting "Rapture" here then that would be my favorite :D
|
Well, I love all of Blondie's rap tunes.
I also love Black Eyed Peas. Does that count? |
anything by Eminem, 50 Cent or LL Cool J - they could SO have a piece - hehe
|
I own two rap albums, both of which I love:
Beastie Boys: Ill Communication Ice-T: OG I'm one of these people that think good rap is as close as we get to Shakespeare these days in terms of rhyme and rhythm. Of course there's a lot of crap out there too! I need to get me some Public Enemy. |
I'm not a big rap fan in general but I can't help but love jamming to DMX's "Party Up." It's so fun! (Though the lyrics scare me!)
I also dig "Ghetto Supastar" by Pras, ODB, and Mya. It's far superior to the original "Islands in the Stream" or whatever. |
I don't know but isn't it the 'popular' thing to say when you like pop/rock music, that you hate rap? As if the two are incompatible, almost. Same thing for Dance music.
I used to be a bit more distrusting of dance and rap, but when you get over that.. there's a lot of great music out there. |

Anything by Eminem/Salt 'N Pepa/Will Smith/D12 Wild Thing & Funky Cold Medina - Tone Loc Mama Said Knock You Out/Going Back To Cali/Big Ole Butt - L.L. Cool J Fight For For Your Right/Sabotage - Beastie Boys Baby Got Back - Sir Mix-A-Lot Almost anything by 2 Live Crew |
This is a simple one. -NONE can't stand any of it. Bad poetry over stolen "samples" Do ANY play any instruments at all? Don't like the messages in general, videos are even worse. (Nice treatment of women - great language- *add sarcasm here*) Heavy bass that only annoys everyone around them. But what do you expect from an old white guy? I can't stand the entire hip/hop rap "culture". Even DC's sampling of Stevie really annoys me. Write your OWN stuff. I find nothing redeeming about any of it. Find the entire genre tacky. Foul mouthed thugs who think money buys respect. I have an idea of where you can stick your "bling". In other words.....Don't really care for it.
|
I am not a big fan of rap, but I do love Rappers Delight. :] In fact, I "rapped" a verse of it for my daughter this weekend, and she said "can you do that again?!?!" I also like some of Salt 'n Pepa's stuff, "Let's talk about sex," for example.
I hate sitting at a red light in my car, with the windows up, and having someone in the next lane with the loud thumping bass and actually being able to hear the "lyrics." At least with the "older" rap you could understand most of the words. As much as I hate Britney Spears, I'd rather have my daughter like her music instead of rap. Carol |

That's not rap....it's BLONDIE. :] And she isn't siting on a car cursing while women's butts are shaking into the camera, with a peter gabriel "hook" being used as their own tune, and.....and......  . |

Hmmm...
Tupac Shakur's "The Way it is"--yes, he took Bruce Hornsby's track and rapped over it, but he did it for a specific reason--because Bruce's song is a classic about race relations, and Tupac wanted to bring it back while expressing his own take on race relations. Rappers aren't just lifting tracks because they can't think of original music, they're doing it because currently, it's the trendy thing to do in rap/hip-hop, and because sometimes they're either paying homage to the original artist or they want people to remember the message of the original song. "California Love"--Dr. Dre, etc. "Switch" by Will Smith (haha) "Hate it or Love it" by 50 Cent (although I don't care for most of his stuff) "Lose Yourself"--Eminem "It Takes Two"--Rob Bass (does NO ONE remember this one?! It takes me back to junior high, which was like, 15 years ago!!! And I still hear it on the radio sometimes!) "Get Busy" (can't remember the artist) "Baby Got Back"--Sir Mix-a-Lot There's more but I can't think of all of them right now. And I don't even consider myself to be a very big rap fan. |
