Stevie's hairdos

I'm so bummed that I wasn't able to go to Atlantic City this week that I sat down to watch a few videos this afternoon (one of the perks of working at home ;) In the videos from the Dance and the beginning of the SYW tour, Stevie's bangs were brushed off to the side. I think she looked fabulous that way. Don't get me wrong--she's looking terrific now too. But I really think she looks much younger with them not down on her forehead. I'm curious what you all think.

Ok, I know--it's a silly thing, but it's almost the holiday weekend, and I just can't keep motivated to work this afternoon :]

It's not the first time I've seen this discussed so don't worry about being silly! I prefer her with bangs (as long as they're not almost curled under) but a lot of people agree with you.

I much rather see her with the bangs brushed off to the side. Her face looked too square with them straight across her forehead.

Bangs

I love the bangs down on her forehead, and altho I love her straight hair, my fav was probably the Belladonna cover, perm and beads, like the "Stop Draggin" video, and I also adore the Tusk Documentary video hair, when she is in the ballet class, when it is darker in the back, and pale just around her face...

For the "mature" stevie... there is nothing like "The Dance" hairstyle,
which lasted only one week (the week they filmed the show)
It had a nice strawberry blonde tint and it's just a perfect cut.

For the younger Stevie...Her hair was beautiful during the Rumours era.

For the "solo" Stevie...I always liked that short and curly Wild Heart hairstyle...same as the one from the "Divine" Stevie Nicks import Cd..and "Stand Back" Music Video...I think.

70's Stevie: Rhiannon Rosebud performance hair or Japan hair

80's Stevie: Bella Donna cover shoot

90's Stevie: Jay Leno Stand Back performance during Enchanted

00's Stevie: Vegas 5.14 performance

I much prefer Stevie with bangs than without. I don't care for the SYW hair at all. I think she looks much younger now. I think my favorite look is the hair she was sporting during the Timespace tour.

Agreed! The bangs have got to stay. When she wore her hair without them during SYW, her face looked elongated and a bit older. The bangs make her look younger and cute (no curling though - just done with a round brush).

those are my fav time also, love her hair in the "Bella Donna" HBO concert as well, i prefer her w/ bangs now over the no bangs, the only time i didn't care for her hair was the huge pin-cushion looking type buns she was wearing during the "Tusk" tour~ w/ the shape of her face & huge doe eyes, she can pull off many looks, i just hope she always keeps it long, i can't imagine her goin' short ala Reba MacIntrye~

I have hated Stevie's hair since 1999. Doesnt she get bored with pretty much the same old shiit all the time?

I know what you're saying. I am kinda bored with the same old look now, too. She has had the same hairstyle for over 5 years. It's time to move on. Don't get me wrong, she always looks beautiful, but she is too good to have the same old plain hairstyle after all this time. She is a legendary rock star who deserves something a little more glamorous, maybe.

My favorite Stevie hairstyle would have to be from the "Rooms On Fire" video, (which would be, to be exact, May 1989, is my guess). I thought it looked so good on her, with it all curly and all moussed up and to the side. And the red streaks really brought out her natural blond highlights. She looked awesome!

As someone with long, straight hair.... I gotta say... probably not. :wavey:

Mokona 06-30-2005 10:49 PM

I think we go through periods of changing up our hairstyles and then finally find the right one that works for us. I kept a bob style for a good portion of my life, and am just now growing it out a bit. Spending time on hair is a PIA, so once you find one you like, you tend to stick with it.

I am a big fan of the straight blonde no bangs hair. I really don't like the bangs now, but they are better then they were last year for the sheds tour. I really loved the side swept look that she had on the first few weeks of the SYW tour!

My favorite Stevie hair was the shaggy, poodle thing she had on the last half of the 1983 tour.

Is there a name for that poodle thing?

Um... a mullet?

I think she should try a longer version of the 'do Madonna was sportin' at Live8- where it's parted down the middle and cascades down in big ringlets. She could totally pull it off. My second choice would be to do a Mariah Carey thing- long bangs swept off to one side- almost like the SYW hair but parted on the side. Maybe even start wearing big barrets or pins or something.

I agree that it's time for Miss Thing to get a new attitude.

Worst hair (and outfit, for that matter): Big Love video

Best hair: People's "50 Most Beautiful People" in 1998. Those curls drive me nuts! :]

EveryDay video

I was so excited when I saw in the Everyday video that she had the waves, I was hoping they were making a comeback, but the straight hair stayed...I loved the wavy hair she had in those outtake session photos (was it the "Street Angel" era outtakes? WHY would she go with the crimped SA tour hair, when she could have done this?:

Stevie Wavy Outtake Photo

These are the outtake photos I am talking about, they are on SaraRhiannon's site...just gorgeous!

Bright blessings, Barbara

Yeah, I didn't like the crimp that was making the rounds on the talk shows. I think it was Jay Leno when she said she puts it into braids while wet and that was how it turned out. God sakes woman did you cut out the budget for the hairdresser? I'm glad that didn't last too long :distress:

eric51078 07-13-2005 02:33 PM

I loved her frizzed out her that she had during RAL. I like her hair now too...I think the reason she leaves it so long is the older you gets the less your hair grows...but I still think she looks great.

Crimped Do

Oh, Elizabeth, I saw that show, too..that was the heaviest crimping on hair I have ever seen, she must have put in 100 braids, wouldn't it have been easier and less time consuming (I braid my hair to keep it out of my face, but that is only TWO braids, not hundreds, LOL) to get the stylist or plug in the Caruso Molecular Hair Setter?
It was just amazing, all the promos, photos, outtakes, etc from that era, her hair was either nicely waved or curls (the SA posters, where she is against the wall, her hair is exquisitely curled!), but then for the tv spots, and tour shows, the crimp attack! Why oh Why? Ah well, as you said, it didn't last too long

I could swear I remember her saying it took like 4 hours to braid or something insane like that. Geesh! What a giant waste of time!

i like both ideas

.. but i also think she should put some lowlights in her hair as well... it's too blonde right now.. doesn't look completely natural to me..

I think she has extensions in now, and that is a cool idea, I would like to see some darker pieces put in, that would look very good on her!

Nothing is better than TUSK TOUR HAIR. Darker color....frizzzzzzz....up in a bun on the top of her head. OH YEAH.
