How big is your...

Birth Size?

I was 7 pounds 3 ounces, and 23 1/2 inches long. (My younger brother got to be the kid with all the body fat.)

So, how big were you at birth?

My mom kept a baby book. I'm not sure if that's mainly an American thing to do. (I know, I sound like an ignoramus -- "Do they have Christmas in France? Kerrist-mussss")

Are you messing here? I've never heard of a baby that long and that light.

I figured premature from the weight, but I've never heard of that kind of disparity between length & weight. Most people are surprised that I was so long & only 7 pounds, but your case sounds much more extreme. :wavey:

sara1998 06-29-2005 05:06 AM

I was 6lbs. 8 oz. and 20 in. long.

My Sara was born 11 weeks early and weighed 2lbs. 12oz. and was 15 3/4 in. long. I find it odd that Taken was 20 in. long, too!

GODDESS6 06-29-2005 06:02 AM

i was 5 & 1/2 lbs~

GateandGarden 06-29-2005 07:05 AM

I weighed 10 pounds!

Must've been a hint of my full-figuredness (just made up a word!) to come.

Violet 06-29-2005 07:46 AM

I was 6 lbs, born at 6 a.m. on 6/7/66  Missed being a 6/6/66 baby by 6 hours! No lie...

:) My daughter was born 9 weeks early and weighed 3lbs and 11oz and was 17 inches long. Now she's seven and nearly as tall as me! (5'1")

'Twas a scary, scary time, but all is great now.

Oh, and I weighed 6lbs and ??oz. Can't remember how long. I'm sure I was short.

skcin 06-29-2005 08:35 AM

I weighed 7 lbs 10 oz & was 21 inches long. I was also completely bald until I was almost 2. :)

GardenStateGirlie 06-29-2005 09:07 AM

8 lbs 7 oz. and 21" -- my mother had me c-section and ended up with some sort of infection afterwards. So, the nurses fed me with a bottle for the rest of the time I was in the hospital (apparently I didn't want to work for it). By the time they bought me home, I was 9 lbs

GypsySorcerer 06-29-2005 09:37 AM

I was 8 lbs. and 12 oz., and 20 inches long. I was a little butterball. :woohoo:

golddustwoman77 06-29-2005 09:43 AM

I was 7 lbs. and 13 oz. I was 21 1/2 in. long.

Livia 06-29-2005 09:48 AM

6 lbs. 13 oz. - 21 or 22 in. long - can't remember, I'd have to consult my baby book, w/ my birth announcement in it.

WildInTheWind 06-29-2005 09:54 AM

I was 6lbs 12 oz, 20 inches I believe.

The Tower 06-29-2005 10:26 AM

12 pounds, 2 ounces - 22 inches long.

My brother was even heavier than me... My mom is a big Norweigian Earth Mother.

LikeAWillow 06-29-2005 10:56 AM

I was 10 lbs and I think 22 inches long, add another butterball to the list :wavey:

I weighed...

9 lbs 2 oz...I was the second largest of my Mother's children in birth weight, Geary weighed 9 lbs 12 oz and Bill weighed 9 lbs 0 oz (I think Lesa said she weihed 7 lbs 8 oz and I do not know how much Chris weighed)

jannieC 06-29-2005 01:05 PM

I have no idea how long I was, but I know I was 2 lbs 3 oz. 6 and 1/2 weeks pre-mature. I'm pretty normal now, thankfully.

Finally, a big baby. I was beginning to think all Ledgies were itty-bitty Muppet babies.

Fat babies are the best, IMO. My brother was so fat when he was little the doctors had him on diet after diet. When he hit puberty he turned into a stick. He's been taller & thinner than I for years.

OOpps! a Freudian slip there on the topic. I was fully prepared to answer the question in regards to my manhood. *ahem*

But regarding the topic at hand, I was a premie baby...I weighed right at 4.5 lbs.

Considering how long you were as a baby, i'm surprised you're not taller. How much taller is he compared to you?

He's a few inches taller, and has been grey since he was twenty. I'm three years older.
My dad is 6' 3". Do they still do that thing where they double your height at a certain age to predict your adult height? I was going to be 6' 4". I'm not close. My pediatrician would say, "Don't worry, you're seventeen years old, you're still growing..." (I was not still growing.) I was the tallest & youngest in kindergarten, but haven't been the tallest since. (Except lying down. :D  - and no nose jokes, thank you.)

So, you got the dark hair, he got the height. You could be grey AND short (but you're just short ;) ) Not sure what they do in terms of determining height but I guess i'm about right. However, i'm taller than my mother and my dad isn't much taller than I am. Sasquatch  Lying down, eh? Is that before or after the slow leak? Your nose is big?

CreepingDeath 06-29-2005 02:00 PM

I was 7 lbs, 8 oz, and 19" long. :]

Actually, I was blond as a kid. I looked like Charlie in the original Wonka movie, hairstyle and all.

It was the Seventies. I'm just glad I never had a bowl cut or a curtain cut.
