Peter's long nails
2 Attachment(s)
Here are two photos of Peter in the 80s.
I THINK they are from a Swedish concert, but I'm not sure... They are from a copy of an article, so the quality is not that good. But check those nails... |
Cool!
Thanks Daniel. DO you have the whole article? Would be cool to read. By the way, I have an article from Record Collector about Peter, 1993 I think, pre-splinter group. I can post it if anyone wants to read it, it's quite good with at least one rare photo. /dino |
Dino - yeah, I'd love to see that article! :)

Same here :blob2:

Curious as well!
I'm also very curious; I missed that then...

WHen was that picture taken of Peter that was in Mick's book that came out in 1990?. I remember that his nails were even longer then for sure

Dino: I have a photo copy of the article, and it is from a Swedish blues magazine called Jefferson. It can be found on their web site:
www.jeffersonbluesmag.com ...but in Swedish, I'm afraid... It is an 8 pages long essay was written in 1994, so it is also pre-Splinter Group. It has not much new info, but at the time I learned a lot by reading it. :) It tells the whole story of Peter's life up to then. I could translate it into English, but that will take some time.. :o Regarding pictures, just these two are of interest .. the others are just well-known photos of Fleetwood Mac. Of particular interest is the writer's memories of his two Peter Green/Kolors concerts in Sweden. The first time, 18 June 1983 in Stockholm, Peter was in quite good shape, played good, but stood quite in the background on the stage. The vocal was a bit muted, and the band was not so tight all the time, but the concert was good! Peter told the press that he had had two great mental breakdowns in the past, and that he had been working at a graveyard in the time after Fleetwood Mac. The next time Peter and Kolors visited Sweden was the summer of 1984. Peter had changed his appearance.. with very long nails, which made it hard for him to play the guitar. The band was tight this time. The second guitarist played much of the solos, and Peter was much in the background. But the writer describes it as a magical concert that touched him more that any other concert. Peter would from time to time do fantastic songs (Need Your Love So Bad), then the next moment he would leave it to the others. Jeff Whittaker did the talking between numbers, but towards the end of the show he whispered something in Peter's ear. Peter then stepped up to the mike and said: "Hello Stockholm!" The audience went crazy. :] The article sais that "The Enemy Within" planned to do a Japan tour, but that Peter's illness stopped this. But don't know if that was the actual reason, as Peter's contribution to the album is not that big... The writer ends the article by saying that there have been rumours circulating about trying to get Peter back into the studio again ... this was in 1993-4...... And yes, I would love to see the Record Collector article and the photo!! :blob2: Daniel |
Yes,
I've seen that article. quite good. Here's another link, Swedish bluesband the Blue Pearls, a special "meeting peter green" page with some photos from concerts etc (in case anyone hasn't seen it): http://www.thebluepearls.com/green.htm /dino |

That site has some great memories from Bela of the band's gigs in Sweden; beautiful photos also. -Lis |
I have a video of Kolors from 1985 playing in Germany. It's just a short set, but they did "Loser Two Times," "In The Skies," "Black Magic Woman," "The Green Manalishi," and "Albatross," as well as two songs by others in the band. And, if I'm being honest, the show kinda sucked. I sent a copy to Mick Fleetwood, and his then manager, Dennis Dunstan, called me and we chatted about it. He said that Peter was really sick when that video was made and had no business being on stage.

BTW How was BB King? :blob1: |

Steve, are you sure the video isn't from Rockpalast, Hamburg. November 1982? That's the only one I've heard of by the Kolors band. I'd say the concerts from 1983 has Peter in quite good form, playing beautifully, but then from early '84 and on something happened, he hardly plays at all on the 1984-85 recordings... |

I have an audio bootleg recording of the Kolors band in 1982 in the Grugahalle in Essen (Germany), november 24 1982. So perhaps not Hamburg??? Tracklist: 1. Black Magic Woman 2. Flyin' Around 3. I'm A Loser two times 4. In The Skies 5. Crying won't bring you back 6. You Make Me Crazy 7. Green Manalishi 8. Albatross Peter Green : Vocals, lead guitar Mick Weaver : Organ, piano Spartacus R. : Vocals, bass guitar Godfrey McLean : Drums Jeff Whittaker : Congas, percussion Poor recoding quality, though. |

KOLORS (feat.) PETER GREENBAUM year: 1982 month: 12 day: 04 location: Markthalle Hamburg setlist: 01 Feelings (6'30'') 02 Black Magic Woman (5'20'') 03 Words That Bite (7'10'') 04 Loser Two Times (4'05'') 05 White Boy (5'00'') 06 In The Skies (7'40'') 07 Give Thanks (6'00'') 08 Cryin' Won't Bring You Back (6'40'') 09 Make It Right (6'40'') 10 The Green Manalishi (5'40'') 11 Albatros (6'15'') 12 Earth Games (5'00'') 13 Man Of The World (6'45'') Apparently there were two concerts within two weeks. I'm listening to the Essen concert right now and noticed there is a smooth overflow between Loser Two Times and In The Skies (no White Boy left out). So obvious two different shows. Just felt I had to let you know |

dino, steveMD, wouter and all, i didn't realize that any concert recordings of peter circa 82-85 were in circulation. maybe there are also some from earlier 78 - 81? would you all be willing to post some of the details, such as date, location, set lists of recordings you have or know of. probably this info would be easier to find in the forum if it were started as a new thread, separate from the 'long nails' thread. i'm thinking of audio recordings. i guess there is just the one (rockplast) video? best, zero |
1993 Record collector article
Hi!
I've put up the Record Collector article on a web page, as it is too big to include as attachment. follow this link: http://stp.ling.uu.se/~dino/greenpictures.html Quite good article. First got me interested in Green in fact. I missed a page I now notice. Will post the last page later if anyone wants it. /dino |

And thanks for posting!! |
Thanks very much for posting the article, Dino! :) Don't have time to read it right now but looking forward to checking it out this weekend.

I posted the missing page, so now you can read the whole thing, just follow the same link.

Great Dino! Thanks a lot!! :)

Just finished reading the article, Dino. Some great info in there! It lists the four tracks on the '67 demo that we'd been guessing about last year on the Pre-Rumours board. And the mention of tapes of Peter working out "Oh Well" with different lyrics - wow, wouldn't it be something if those tapes ever re-surfaced! Thanks again for uploading the article! :)
Now I wonder if anyone has the previous month's article about Green's pre-Mac days that is mentioned at the beginning of Dino's article?? |
