What's up with the ticket sales??
Ok, so i keep hearing about how the first two "Gold Dust" shows didn't sell well... That there were literally empty sections all over the place in both Cleveland and Grand Rapids... are people losing interest in seeing Stevie play live??
The "Two Voices" shows sold very well (with the exception of Mansfield where they were literally giving away tickets for free to fill up the venue)... but perhaps most of those sales or at least half of those sales were from Don/Eagles fans?? Maybe because she is not promoting a thing on this tour, people aren't interested in going to see her? |

I think besides....

Yeah, actually I'm sure it's the prices. Stevie's most expensive shows for me before were about $85 (that was TISL in Boston if I recall). Now she has raised that another $45 dollars, more than 50% which is a bit much if she's not promoting something and thus has little to no press.
|
Like I've been trying to say all along I think in general it is a mistake to tour with nothing to promote and having just saturated the market with a 2 year Fleetwood Mac tour.If she wanted to do this smaller venues of maybe 5,000 -7,000 seats would have been a good idea and with lower ticket prices.I even know some die hard fans who are sitting this one out which is not a good sign.I did not plan on going myself but with all the good reviews and the covers I 'll probably go if some really good seats come up for Concord before the show. She really does look great in the pictures posted on here and she seems to be having a good time unlike on TISL and alot of the SYW shows too.But if some of the people I would consider die hards that have not missed a tour in decades are not going this tiime out it does not bode well for ticket sales.

Yep, a combination of market saturation and ticket prices. She played Cleveland, for example, in 2001, 2003 and 2004 (with Fleetwood Mac and solo). I like BombaySapphire3's idea of doing smaller venues (e.g. House of Blues-type places) -- that would have been a great idea. Then I think she could have gotten away with these high ticket prices.
Honestly, I don't think people are willing to pay as much to see Stevie solo as with Fleetwood Mac, and these prices are just as high as SYW. |
All good points....
Also, summer is concert season - most people can only afford to attend a few shows at the most-especially if they have to travel. If I was a modest Stevie fan, I'd opt for seeing someone I've never seen before. But that's just me. |
That and the fact that the front row seats, GREAT seats are all reserved, can't get them until maybe the day of the show or pay broker or ebay prices. They just aren't releasing great seats right off the bat, and pisses people off like me! And then there's TicketB@#$%^&*(!
|
I haven't been to many concerts at all, but I remember paying $70 for a third or fourth row seat to a YANNI  concert back in 1997!! So when Stevie's tix were priced at $85-$125 at the Cleveland show, it honestly didn't seem that expensive. How much were the tickets at TISL? I'm curious to see how much more these were.
It probably would've been better if she had an album to promote or took a year off after SYW, but selfishly I'm glad she didn't. |

Not only that - but she is not playing anything but her same old set list, with the exception of Circle Dance and Rock and Roll. I think many people are loathe to shell out beaucoup bucks to see essentially the same songs or, to put it another way, pay $100 to see her do two covers.

She has done like 200 dates in the last couple of years and most people have already seen her at least once on tour recently. I am even considering not seeing this show just because my bank account is drained from the Vegas and SYW shows. She is doing two Florida dates. Under normal circumstances, I would go to both shows. But if I can't get great seats, I will pass because it is pretty much the same setlist as Vegas...
So, for me at least, the reason is hight ticket prices for crappy seats. I'm not going if I have to sit out on the lawn! I've been checking ticket master daily and I have not seen any Floor seats for the shows I want to go to. So it just isn't worth it unless I can get some decent seats. |
I also think these will be more isolated incidents, rather than a whole tour...There were quite a few trouble spots on the "Trouble in Shangri La Tour" in terms of ticket sales, even with a brand new album out, tv specials, and the whole thing. Her Cincinatti, Bristow, Raleigh, and Virginia Beach shows had very low sales in 2001..and most markets were not sold out...
I think as she starts to move out to the west coast the sales will pick up a lot too Chris |
If all of these shows are selling poorly, why doesn't she do smaller venues like Caesar's Palace, House of Blues, etc? She could even do intimate clubs. At least that way, her shows would "sell out" even if that only meant 3,000 tickets were sold.

Im a diehard and im stepping out
I consider myself a diehard fan. I am not going to these shows because of the set list. I saw the henley/nicks show in MA and that was enough. Shes had the same set for seven years. This set list is very disappointing. Woo hoo two covers, why do covers when she has so many gems she could pull out on her own.
ehhhh, she needs to do more rarities. |
It really would not matter what "rarities" she pulled out, some would complain. If she started doing "Alice" I would be complaining, if she started doing "Storms" you would probably complain Jimmy..

I don't understand how you can consider yourself to be a die-hard fan and skip an entire tour. Even if she played the same 10 songs over and over I would never miss an opportunity to see her live and be in her presence for even just a few hours. There is nothing like the feeling of having Stevie sing for me, it's like a high. Sure I'd like to see her mix it up a bit but hearing that voice is so special to me, beyond words. She's not going to be around forever. Ok maybe money is an issue but I make sacrifices for the love of Stevie my God!!

I agree and I would go if she came here. But, I probably will not fly across the country to see her on this leg because then it becomes do I want to spend probably $1,000 to hear her sing Rock and Roll - the song. That is a lot of money for one song good though it may be. |
I could be wrong, but I'm almost positive her highest ticket price is $75 here in North Carolina. Anyway, I'm such a retard that I would go to see her play the same stuff over and over. Stevie could get up and fart onstage, and I'd go.
