Dreams Remix - 128kbps

I got a promo copy of Deep Dish's new album today. A more concise version of the song at 4:43 appears on the actual album. I'm lovin' this version more and more with each listen.

I'm convinced that this song has already been serviced to clubs for play given that what we heard on The Essential Mix was a dub version of the song, probably culled from an advance vinyl promo release.

On the back of the CD, it lists the album's highlights. "Dreams" is listed first with the following description: "The cover of Fleetwood Mac's 'Dreams' features newly recorded vocals by Stevie Nicks."

I just posted the album version to my site:

Thanks so much for posting this, Daniel. This version is so much better than that BBC radio version. The background vocals are more prominent and sound fantastic.

The backups are hauntingly good in this mix...it's almost eerie!

Thanks a million for posting this, Daniel! :xoxo:

Loved the dub version we heard the other day, but the album version blows it out of the water.
And I have to admit that I'm loving Stevie's vocals on this, even more than her vocals on the original 'Rumours' version. As blasphemous as that is to admit.

Thanks Daniel! I also like this version much more than the previous one. The drums sound more up front, and yes, the background vocals are very haunting! I also love how it winds down with the acoustic guitar at the end! I think it will do very well.

CrystalVisions 06-23-2005 04:11 PM

Thank you so much, Daniel! :xoxo: It sounds great!

krrrby 06-23-2005 07:01 PM

I'm still going to keep the dubbed 8 minute one for ppl who still want that too until probably sometime sat night or sun when I update

Keith 06-23-2005 08:48 PM

wow...

house, disco, or whatever they call the music that is played in gay bars, this remix takes me back.. way back to when i discovered other men, and women, just like me.. when I would bump and grind on the dance floor... tryin' to capture my next one night stand.. you see.. i'm lovin' this dreams dance remix.. because when I was coming out and going to the only gay bar in town.. and wishing they would play some Stevie Nicks.. well, now they can.. I love the long version.. you know.. and to think she wrote this song in Sly Stone's fab room, and she knew it was good.. well,, it still is.. wow...thanks Daniel.. i'm on repeat, watching the game.. go Pistons.. the blue state team.. and loving' my Stevie.. with a disco beat..

life is good.. rock and roll makes it better...

SapphireSister 06-24-2005 11:53 AM

I finally downloaded this into my ipod last night (I actually have the 6 minute version) and listened to it 4 times straight on the way to work this morning. I am sooooo in love with this mix! I would love it if was actually released as a single and got some club play and even charted like POTU. I'm going to go insane when I hear it playing before she comes out!! :blob2: :blob2:

p.s. In the version I have she says something at the end but I can't understand. It's some new words and she's just talking. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

Alexbt 06-24-2005 03:49 PM

Well, that explains why it was being described as a 'cover' but not.

It also explains why it sorta sounded like her! (From what I could hear over the audience while at the Mansfield show, which reminds me--did anyone who went to that show think the volume was a little low? I was able to mention things to my friend at a normal volume during the Henley set--less over Stevie).

Alexbt 06-25-2005 11:24 AM

Upon listening, it's pretty scary to hear her singing that 'high'... I didn't know she still had it in her. It does sound like they did some digital altering to her voice, but I think it's all her singing, but using her head voice for once in many many years.

It still is a cover. Anyone who performs another artist's song -- lyrics or music -- is covering (or remaking) that song. The song is being promoted as 'Dreams' by Deep Dish featuring Stevie Nicks."

On the same note, using small parts of another artist's lyrics or music is called sampling.

mylittledemon 06-26-2005 07:09 PM

I will be buying this album just for this. A very cool modern take on this song...and Stevie's vocals sound terrific! Only thing it could have used is a nice, newer, electric version of Lindsey's guitar solo in the middle.

mylittledemon 07-04-2005 06:46 PM

I love the way Stevie says "in the stillness of remembering what you HAD" on the first verse
