My "no Northwest dates" tantrum thread...

I AM PISSED. I can't help it. I know there are only a few Ledgeis here who will sympathize, but would it have killed Stevie to hit Portland and Seattle after Reno?????!!!!!!!!!!! A lot of artists neglect to come to the Northwest for whatever reason, but I can always count on Stevie and FM to not let me down...until now. I've checked Pollstar almost daily for these additions to the tour, and it looked promising in the beginning, but there have been no changes for a couple of weeks now! I just can't afford to travel to Reno or California right now, so I am officially in a Stevie tantrum! Every time she plays here, she talks about how her uncle lives in Tacoma, but I guess she's dissing him this time around too. I don't think I've ever had reason to rank on Stevie here in the past, but I just can't contain myself. Especially after reading everyone's accounts of how awesome this tour is!

:distress: :distress: :distress: :distress: :distress:

Thank you for reading my rant, if you still are. :woohoo:

She's not playing her own home town for the second straight year, so don't feel so bad.

Jennifer don't panic yet. Don said Stevie was going to do about 45 solo dates after the dates with Don. I have a feeling she will schedule more. She always hits Portland. I think she will go up through the northwest then maybe some more dates in the NE.

I hope she comes back to Detroit for her solo tour--sorry--is that being greedy??? :]

I think it may be too early to say she isn't coming. She may still come up there. If not, save up for her next Vegas stint. :D Or, send her a nastygram (not really).

That is indeed odd.

Thanks for the encouragement, everybody! I'll keep my fingers crossed...it's that darn Beauty And The Beast (and If Anyone Falls, if it returns) that is absolutely killing me!!!

Rant on. I grew up in Portland and was so bitter Stevie never used to stop there.
FM played on April 13, 1980. Stevie's ass wasn't in Portland again until the Tango tour.
Of course, I flew to Oakland to see a Mirage show, at 16. Boy was that a drama. But, no Wild Heart stop - she cancelled the show due to "illness" (read:hungover)and no Rock A Little stop. I was beside myself. No Mirror stop, no Timespace. I flew to LA to see a Timespace show.

So, I feel your pain.

Of course, now I live in LA, and once I moved here - 93 - I started seeing her all the time. I can pretty much fly anywhere I want to see them these days. If I want to go I just spend the damned money.
But from 1980 - 1987....Oh Lord.
Saw them in Portland and Seattle on both Tango and BTM. Of course, Stevie was a zombie at all of those shows. Other than that Timespace show(kind of Zombied out still), NOTHING until 94. Now I am making up for lost time. But I missed the WILD years. I still am annoyed about THAT.

I hope you get to see a show !!! :wavey:

Yes, if she doesn't come to your area, save up for Vegas...she has said she would love to go back toward the end of her tour and Vegas said she is "tentativly" scheduled to be there in the end of summer!!! So, don't get to upset too soon!!!! Have faith in our stevie

I can't believe she didn't come here on the RAL Tour!!! It was a long one! As was OSOTM. I am bummed too that I didn't see those tours, but I was too young! But it's obviously much worse when you actually know what you're missing. :) That sucks big donkey balls. Since I became a fan in 1995, though, I've never had to worry once about whether or not they/she would come here (in fact, I got 4 shows on the SYW Tour!), so I guess I'm a bit in shock.

It drove me NUTS. I wanted to go see a Wild Heart show so badly. And RAL. But, I was in college or HS, money was kind of scarce, and I swear to GOD, every date in Oakland or LA was either the night before a final exam or a night I was performing myself. Just wasn't meant to be. But, I did get to see a SOTM in Oakland in 82 that was full on "#%@$@^*#**88$*$*wawawa*@*@*"
From the very front, no less !

So at least there was that. And at that show she tossed me a rose from her mic stand. Made me very happy at 16. :woohoo:

GarboSpeaks! 06-21-2005 01:18 AM

I also wonder if she isn't taking a little break between dates and stuff. Maybe this part of the "tour" has to wrap up before other dates can be annoucned. Being as Summer is the high tour season, maybe certain parts of the US were pre-booked w/ other acts, and she needs to let that rest. Plus get her own rest. As it was, these Don dates and now solo dates, really came out of no where. There had been talk, and then WHAM, several dates. Stevie loves to tour, and loves her fans, she'll come see you asap. I'd venture September-ish.

LeighB04 06-21-2005 11:44 AM

Oh, rant on, baby!
For so many years, living in South Africa, no Stevie or Mac came to visit - despite the fact that almost every other huge star popped in - Rolling Stones, U2, Tina Turner, you name it. I had to come all the way to America to see them live!
Now I live in the Northwest, and would love to see Henley-Nicks, but only if she performs with some life in her again. The shows I've seen in the last couple of years were pretty boring (by 80's standards), and if she got closer to that, as she did in Vegas, I'd think the trip was worth it!

I feel for you. I can't see her either. She isn't coming anywhere close to St. Louis. Chicago was the closest and that is still like 6 hours away. :( I can't afford to travel and take off work, so I am bummed out it too.

I understand your pain, but be thankful you dont live in England. She MIGHT come to you, she is NEVER coming here!!

I hope you get a show, honestly!

My uncle heard from someone that Stevie is coming back to Worcester, MA to play at the paladium. I heard thats like a club but I have no idea if this info is true or not.

Oh my god, you guys! I know! Has she been over there since the OSOTM Tour??!!!

I'll just keep hoping that there's a second leg (that includes England! ;) )

desertangel 06-22-2005 01:11 AM

I'm in Portland, so I can jump on your bandwagon... however, I KNOW it could be much worse, we could be overseas. I feel SOOO bad for how those folks must feel. I have traveled to Concord and Las Vegas to see shows. And pretty much getting used to living in a "bus stop" town. Having grown up in SoCali where you've always been able to pick and chose who you were going to see on which weekend, it is tragic when a move makes your concert-going side of life slow down to about 2 m.p.h. It's the yin and yang, because there are certain other benefits to living in the Northwest, besides the rain... that's not necessarily a benefit in my book. ;)

Stevie was on the radio last Friday talking to our local DJ and she said that she has dates scheduled through either the beginning or end of September, at least, (I couldn't remember if it was the beginning or end because I had just walked into my room from work and she was on the radio and I was stunned) - so there are more dates, just don't know when or where yet, I'll bet she's coming to you soon! Hang on, okday dokay now here we go! :blob1:

Serendipity 06-22-2005 10:11 AM

I dont think that she's been here since 1989, apart with FM obviously. I was way too young to have seen her back then so it really sucks! Got to keep hoping and praying tho.....you never know!

SapphireSister 06-23-2005 05:59 PM

I'd move ;)

Same here - 16 years is a long damned time. Granted, it's a hell of a lot easier for me to drive to the nearest city that she IS coming to than for you to jet over to the U.S. on a plane. But it still sucks.

Serendipity 06-24-2005 10:20 AM

maybe I should move then...

:distress: :distress: :distress: :distress: :distress: I'll share a little story here. WHen Stevie plays Minneapolis on July 6, this will be the first time since OSOTM she's played here solo. Now granted she's been here with FM a few times since, but we here in the Great north have been waiting for a long time for an appearance by our girl. Welcome back to Minnesota Stevie, cant wait!!!
